There is a magic about this place where you makes wishes, pick crystals and flowers to add to the potting mix. After you write down your wishes, you ring the brass round bell pot and place your wishes in the bottom of the planter. You choose your flowers from the flower bar, as well as selecting your crystals. This weeks crystal is a moonstone. Zay, the young woman with wispy blue streaks, is our Zinkstown helper. How appropriate to have this beautiful young lady like her being our fairy helper. She is Zay and it is Zinkstown. A perfect blend of Z's. What a wonderful way to celebrate Spring, the season that the earth comes back to life after the dormant winter.

So much fun that I just had to take two of my friends back here to celebrate their birthdays. There was no doubt in my mind that this place was the perfect birthday present and time to spend with them. Memories. Pat myself on the back . . . they loved it and I think they will bring other friends back to have this experience also. Zinks Town is an art gallery that also specializes in the experience of creating a lasting magic memory with their "Succulent Bar". Creating the magic: You select a container& then select one or two plants from an extensive variety of succulents. Next step is creating a memory / desire that you place in the bottom of the container, followed by planting your succulent(s); then placing "wish" supporting Ingredients (mine were Lemon Grass, Hibiscus, Roselle, Chrysanthemum, Mallow Flower, and a couple I can't remember how to spell!); then you select magic crystals (mine were Black Lace Agate, Green Aventurine, & Lapis Lazuli); and finally you add decorations. Yep decorations. Important thing is to remember to select a container that will fit all that. I love it when a business creates opportunities to come away with more than satisfying your thirst, fixing your car, supplying you with groceries or cooking your dinner. I love it when you come away with a memory that will be with you longer than next week. A memory that you will share with friends . . . at least until their next birthday.

And the beauty of the gallery is the outstanding scope of material, medium and methodology. Alongside the anticipated paintings and jewelry, you'll find some work around here that both impresses and, well, sometimes confounds; who would think of that? Would that improve the look of my garden, or... ? But this is rare. For the most part, I found myself deeply enjoying this gallery, it's right above a froyo shop, so grab a cold treat and peruse.

Guru showed me the websites of several artists and helped me learn where to even begin. Not everything was sold through the Harwood center but they helped me to feel like I was in the loop. (I'm really not in any loop that I know of, but it is nice to feel like I'm in someone's loop.)

The storytellers, including Ramona King and Brenda Hollingworth, used the March "Water is Life" theme to share stories from around the world dramatically with song and music. The Glass Man shared a personal account of ways to conserve water and the necessity to be conscious of how important water is in our daily lives.

Didn't matter. I've lived in this city for the better part of 20 years, and this little adobe gem was a delight to discover. It's one of just a few structures in these parts that lives its history; you can feel the years inside and out. You can imagine a mercantile here, maybe a place where kids longed for a bite of candy or where, more than a century back, horses were hitched outside and people began the work of making this a neighborhood. The Tortuga Gallery has that history. It's just an old place with a comparatively tall ceiling for its era, and it bleeds New Mexico of old. From what I understand it's an event space, dedicated to the community. Plan your next yoga class here, or show off your best canvasses. It's a gorgeous, intimate, wonderful little spot in a neighborhood that will someday be the answer to downtown.

One of my favorite places in the world is The House on the Rock in Spring Green, WI. When I was at Tinkertown I felt like I was at a mini version of it. How cool to find out that Tinkertown was inspired by The House on the Rock! Tinkertown was created by artist Ross Ward. His wife keeps it running to honor his memory and to share his creations. Ross started creating figures out of wood in junior high school! I love the glass bottle walls. Bring some quarters or get them from the cashier for the many moving contraptions throughout the museum. There are hand painted inspirational signs throughout Tinkertown. There's a Western town. There are miniatures. There's an art car. It's filled with so much! I felt giddy at this place just like I did at House on the Rock. It's a place for all ages. Free parking out front.
