They straight-up robbed me. I paid $150 upfront for repairs to be done on my 12-string. It's about six months later and zero work has been done and the company is denying that I paid upfront, saying it's not their policy to take payments up front. Well, I don't really care if it's your policy or not, that's what happened. So, to get my guitar back, I need to pay them AGAIN, SIX MONTHS AFTER THE FACT. This is nothing but fraud. They excuse it saying they don't have a full-time tech. That's fine, but if you don't have adequate staff, DON'T TAKE NEW BUSINESS. I need my guitar fixed, and I need it done for free. This is absurd and insulting and if I need to contact someone to investigate, I will. read more

In life you don't know what you don't know. I seek advice and professionalism from businesses to support my decisions. Guitar Center has extremely Poor consulting on products. We bought a Mic and they didn't suggest a microphone cable so we had to drive back. The cable they sold us doesn't work for our Sony MHC-V71 which requires a Mic Aux port. This cable they sold has Rean connections. Poor sales people always will lead you in the wrong direction. Learn to ask questions to help your customer who needs advice accurately every time. Train your employees to help your customers who come in ignorant to the music industry. Many arrogant employees who believe customers are professionals. Time to clean house GC. I am thoroughly impressed with the guys at the Maple Grove Guitar Center. I stopped in twice this week to learn about renting lighting for a house party (side note-$35 for a high quality LED uplighting package is an amazing deal!) I stopped in once to learn about rentals, and a second time on the day of my event to pick everything up. All of the guys I worked with were incredibly helpful in getting me set up and teaching me how to use all of the lights. read more

I'm the sound tech for a local country artist who rented two extra speakers and stands from Maple Grove to supplement the existing PA for an outdoor show. She was told they had QSC K12.2 speakers available so she rented them and stands over the phone. At the show upon starting to set the rental gear up, we discovered the speakers were the older K12 models. The stands that came with were basically trashed with broken knobs and no safety pins. Wound up using screw drivers as safety pins to be able to mount the speakers. She called the store from the event to tell them what was wrong and even took a video of the broken parts. Upon returning the gear, she was told that no one told her they had K12.2 models, even though two different store employees did. Despite all these problems, they refused to issue any sort of partial refund. Needless to say, we will never again do any business with a store who misrepresents rental gear, sends out broken speaker stands to the public, and then won't make any adjustment for the problems they caused. read more

I brought in my guitar today for a truss rod adjustment, and he knew exactly what to do. He was quick to fix it, all the while explaining some of the finer things about fixing the guitar, his career fixing guitars, and also some of the mechanics of the guitar. We purchased a piano at this store and we also browse this location frequently. They offer knowledgeable, yet low pressure salespeople and a broad selection of instruments. They delivered our piano in a timely and courteous manner and they took great care in setting up the instrument. In addition to their vast selection in the store, they can quickly order anything you need (even left-handed guitars, etc.). Even though GC is a "big box" store I used to enjoy the place and make an occasional substantial purchase. We used to receive very helpful service. The past 2-3 times I have been in the Maple Grove location it hasn't been that busy, and no one has even asked if I needed help. Today I walked in with a gift card and a pocket full of cash. I was there for close to two hours clearly trying out equipment and not one staff member even approached me. It's customer service, folks. Customers expect some acknowledgement. Yah these guys are great. They just started offering lessons and they're all great guys. But by far their guitar tech Johnny is the best. He's worked on all of my guitars and I trust him. The only store I might like better is the Edina store because they have a better selection of guitars but as far as service goes this place is the best. read more

I was really disappointed with my visit a couple of days ago. I came in with a bass that I purchased used online from Guitar Center (in Austin). It was listed as "excellent" condition, but when I received it, it wasn't sending a strong consistent signal. I tried it on a couple amps before bringing it in before bringing it to this store. "B" offered to help me. After trying it on several amps, he sent me to Johnny who was doing repairs. Johnny said it was likely the preamp part of the guitar and that I should be reimbursed. I went back to B and told him that. I was bummed because I had put a lot of time and effort into this bass that was listed as excellent condition. B said the other store must have made a mistake or that sometimes air pressure in planes can cause preamp problems during flight/shipping. B offered to help me look for a replacement online, but there weren't any. I asked him if there are any deals we can make happen considering my unfortunate circumstances through another Guitar Center (them not being accurate in calling it "excellent" condition). I asked if we could work out a deal, hoping I could get a floor model version of the same bass or something like that since the cost isn't much higher than what I paid. He told me he'd check and came back saying there was one just like it in the back and that he'd even throw in strings as a courtesy for the inconvenience. He brought the new guitar to the counter and started scanning the box and receipts then informed me the total was $75 for the guitar upgrade and complimentary strings. I was pretty upset because I assumed B was being kind in offering a trade up for the inconvenience. I still feel that that was being communicated. Regardless, I asked for my money back because I wasn't interested in spending another dime at Guitar Center considering my experience. I do think B was trying his best to be kind here, but the false advertising through a separate Guitar Center online and the miscommunication by B left me feeling quite disappointed with my experience at this store. read more

I was on tour and accidentally left a part of my cymbal stand in the store while I purchased some miscellaneous hardware stuff. Realized that I left it there later that day to far away to go back. I called with a long shot of having them ship the piece to a venue a couple days away. To my surprise Andrew, the manager, was totally cool about it and took care of it for me. Some people talk poorly about corporate owned music shops but that was pretty cool and totally unnecessary. Thanks dudes! read more

Fail to ship my $400 equipment to my house which they claim it will be deliver to my house, pay extra for shipping.....call them and was told they will call back which never did, item end up at the store which if I knew it was going to be sent to the store I would of told them to ship it to the one near my house. Now I have to drive 45min to pick it up and 45min back home. read more

First off one of the pricks said that the epiphone was made in America lol.ok ...first clue that i should have stayed away ... But needed a guitar.... Then the person said well you have to spend more money to get a decent sounding guitar.... Hmmmm i played a rouge for years as a teen and that thing took a beatin... i spend a little more and out the door the thing wont work ... So i return it .... Then once again here we go.... well if ya spend more money ... The guy said .. So i bought it and low and behold .... Another pice of junk .... Humm more money more problems .... Guitar center is a pretty nice place. Very nice selection they have a great range of guitars here. One problem though on my experience the person who was helping me knew very little about guitars. I told him I was looking for a seagull s6 original not with a dreadnought finish as that was what I was holding. He said "oh it may be here let me go look on my computer and I'll be right back" well a half hour later at least! I see him messing around talking with his staff then he noticed me looking at him. Then he runs to the computer and checks. Then he comes back and says "it's here" he grabs the guitar I just played and handed it to me?!?! I just gave up I'm not mean but I would have purchased that guitar if he would have just told me he didn't have one without a dreadnought finish. Maybe he had an off day idk but I just came home and purchased one off eBay. I guess thanks for letting me play it at your store in your very nice sound controlled rooms! One more thing does it bother anyone else that they sell you the guitar that is in the show room where other people play on it? read more

I wanted to get my guitar setup & was lied too multiple times. All I wanted to do was guitar my guitar setup like I've done for the past 8 years there. I was told on at least 6 occaissions everytime I brought my guitar tech there on the weekend that the guitar was off on vacation & will be back next weekend. So everytime I brought in the next weekend I heard he was still off on vacations?? So after the 3rd time I called first, do you have a guitar tech in today and the sales guys ansert was yes. So I drove down and sure as shit I was told he's on holidays??? I said I was I told hes in! They said it must have been a mistake. So I came in the next weekend and was told the same thing. So I asked why do you lie to people if you don't have a guitar tech when I call before and when I get there you don't???? His response was I don't think that was the case? I said really! So now your calling me a liar??? I siad I have no time for your bullshit and told him off and said I've bought a lot of stuff out of here over the years and this will be the last time you'll lie to me or basically call me a liar!!
