I was very much aware that Sarasota used other on-line auction platforms, but they were linked and my bid was shown as highest. I've been bidding in on-line auctions well over 25 years. And, I've always been told that if there are two identical bids of the same amount, as on-line absentee bids, the first and earliest bid is the bid taken. Because, if bidding platforms are linked any identical bid after the first would not be accepted because it would have already been outbid. That second bidder would have to bid higher than the highest bid of the first bidder to have their bid register and the earlier bidder would have gotten an outbid notice. Which I didn't and haven't. Ever. I bid $100 absentee long before the item went to hammer. The bid, at that time, was $60. Once the item closed, you could see the bid increments go up, during live bidding on the item, from $60 up to my $100, which was the selling price. I won, right? Not so says the auction house. Their excuse? All absentee bids are thrown in a hat, so to speak, and the other bidder - that bid $100 absentee after I did (which can be verified) - was taken as the $100 bid. So I would have had to bid $110 to get the item. What?!? Why wasn't their bid "outbid" as mine was already there. There followed extensive word salad explanations of their bid taking methods that boiled down, really, to they took that later, second, $100 bid and there wasn't crap I could do about it. And, to even further be insulted...I filed a complaint with Invaluable. Who took their side with an explanation that made no more sense than the one the auction house gave. And, because I won an item for $70 that I told them they could keep because I wasn't wasting a dime at their auction after the way they treated my bidding the winning amount first, they filed a complaint with Invaluable who downgraded my status. After having a 100% pay through on 240 items for tens of thousands against an auction house with a 3.2 Yelp rating. Over a $70 item I refused to pay for after being slapped by the auction house over a winning bid. Yes, let the bidder beware with Sarasota Estate Auction!

The man behind the counter was super nice, but it was a bit of a bummer seeing how much of the good stuff felt overpriced. I hope people come in and buy, but a lot of it seems like it's been sitting there for a long time, and what's the point of that? The whole idea of antiques is keeping things out of landfills and giving them a second home.

Delivery was delayed as Ashley said they received only one mattress and had to wait for the second. Once delivery was made it became immediately evident that one mattress was thicker than the other. I was tempted to refuse delivery, but was told by their delivery person that these mattresses, which were shipped rolled up in a box, take up to 24 hours to fully expand. Well, "full expansion" never occurred and one mattress remains thicker than the other. Ashley did nothing until we filed a dispute with the finance company. Ultimately, they have sent a technician to the house twice, and have confirmed, on both inspections, that the mattresses are different heights. Ashley insists that they meet specification and will not correct. This leaves one side of a king size bed higher than the other. Our recommendation is to not buy from Ashley as their quality is questionable, and their customer support is non-existent. Should you elect to proceed with a purchase, please inspect thoroughly on delivery and refuse immediately if there are any problems/defects; otherwise getting your purchase corrected will be very difficult, if at all.

The store seems especially curated with vintage mid century modern, rattan, academic, and funky pieces. Might I add that everything is in amazing condition and of solid wood construction. The best part is everything is very reasonably priced. I met one of the owners Alex, and he was nothing short of kind and forthcoming. I will definitely be stopping by in the future to look for more pieces for my home. Do know that the store is only open Thursday through Saturday from 11-3 but they do offer appointments to view the store on other days of the week.
