Bottom line up front. We paid $1,343 on November 13th 2021 for a gate. We currently have a broken gate and that was up for about 3 weeks. With an agreement to refund in full 3 weeks ago with being ghosted ever since he agreed to refund there money. Attached are pictures of the agreement to refund and pictures from a certified welder about the poor weld job. Read below for more. We originally went with Gulf Coast Gate as Chris was very easy to get ahold of and it seemed like they had a good product. We got a design, a quote and paid for the gate. Eventually the gate shipped and when it arrived it was completely busted up. Multiple welds were broken off and the powder coating was absolutely horrible with multiple spots not even covered. I called Chris and he agreed to send another one and said it would ship by January 7th. January 7th came and went and I never heard from him. I tried contacting him via phone, email and text with no response for a very long time all while he had my money that I paid in full. I eventually heard from him weeks later and the gate finally shipped way after it was supposed to. The gate arrived and was installed. No less than 3 weeks later, the gate was found completely ripped off. A closer look and numerous welds just broke off. There was no real penetration on the welds. I showed this to another welder and he said that they were horrible welds and a really crappy job. When I called Chris he claimed someone must have hit it with a car because there was no way a small amount of wind did that. We had no more than 25 mph winds the night it broke. We have a camera near the gate that confirms no one hit it. When I looked closer at the metal used, I realized the metal was literally the cheapest and thinest metal you could possibly use (make sure you ask what type of alluminum and thickness of alluminum they will use. I should have confirmed). The cheapness of the product was confirmed when a 30 plus year welder refused to redo the gate because the material was too crappy and would never last. After a long drawn out conversation that took over a week due to him no longer responding Chris finally agreed in writing to refund our money (pic of his message agreeing to refund attached). That was on April 19th 2022. He said he would put a check in the mail. It has been almost a month and we still have not received our money back. I have tried calling him, emailing him, and texting him multiple times with no response. He is completely ignoring me and still has the money he agreed to refund in writing. This is the worst business I have ever worked with. Do not give them business. You will end up regretting it like me and now I am 7 months into this, out about $1,400 dollars plus the cost to get another gate made. I have also reported this to the BBB to hopefully ensure he will never get an accreditation. I plan on following up with my lawyer so he cannot steal from anyone else. read more

I have no idea how these folks are still in business. They don't respond to any form of communications and no one takes the effort to get back to you. Tried to discuss a large project with them and their response was to completely ignore our multiple inquiries. What a terrible way to run a business. Don't waste your time with them. If they are actually still in business, they won't be in the very near future. read more

Chris talks a good game initially. He was overly eager to visit and talk with me about a community gate project--until he found out that it was a job too small to retain his interest. When that happened, Chris virtually disappeared from the face of the earth. He failed miserably to follow through with a firm commitment to provide a written estimate and timeline; he stopped answering my calls; he failed to return four call-back requests. Chris disappeared. If it were possible to give a negative rating, I would. DO NOT do business with Chris at Gulf Coast Gate & Fence. We paid $15,000 for 2 gates, 1 keypad, etc. we've had nothing but trouble with them. Can't get Chris to return a call. We finally called another company to come and look at the gates. We discovered that Chris bypassed a safety feature (that keeps gate from closing on a vehicle). These cost $250 (x 2) to replace and came as part of the gate mechanism but they weren't installed nor were they left with us. We can't get Chris to return a call or send us the safety part! We also discovered they installed our gates wrong. Chris talks a good talk but there's ZERO response or service after he's paid and he doesn't know what he's doing. He told us 15 days ago he was sending a part and still no part. And no response from Chris. Nothing but problems and now we have 2 gates that don't work. Chris originally installed a double electronic gate for us 2 years ago and did a great job. From first visit to see what we wanted, to design, fabrication, installation, everything was on time and looked and worked just like it was supposed to. When we have had questions or adjustments he has taken care of it quicker than we expected. Since then we've got custom fencing fabricated and installed. I contacted Gulf Coast Gate and Fence to fabricate an 18-foot gate. The gate was to be manufactured in 2 pieces due to its cumbersome size. Chris worked with me on the design, for the outcome illusion upon completion to be one solid gate. All I needed to do is contact a welder to fab the 2 gates together upon arrival. Gulf Coast continuously communicated with me during the build out phase and sent pictures of every milestone. It took a while to be fabricated but I would rather have quality craftmanship. And man was it! To our surprise, the very large 2-piece gate arrived in perfect condition all the way from Alabama to Texas. Larger than life and just as magnificent as Chris and Brian described. We waited a very long time to purchase a driveway gate and I am over the moon in love with this gate. When my welder arrived to fab the gates together, he even commented on the exceptional workmanship and paint job Gulf Coast provided. The gate is black and as slick and shinny as the body of a car. Utterly outstanding. I would highly recommend to anyone in the market for gates to contact this company. Thank you, Brian and Chris, for all that you do. You are a very talented team. Found these guys searching for a gate fabricator for my project. Their designs looked good and their prices were fair. I did read a couple bad reviews but there were also a few good reviews. I assumed the poor reviews were the exception and pulled the trigger and ordered a 16' double swing gate and a 4' matching pedestrian gate. The website stated 14 days from order to delivery. I live in remote N.California so I figured an extra week or so to arrive. When the gate didn't arrive I tried to call and email Chris several times. Very hard to get ahold of. When I did talk to him he was very nice,explained why the gate wasn't ready and assured me a delivery date. I ordered in mid July and didn't receive until after Labor Day. My summer project was now my fall project with shorter days,possible rain and temperature drops. The gate design was good but the quality of the welds and finish were terrible. Several cold welds and just poor craftsmanship. The "industrial" finish was terrible. Massive scratches when it arrived(shipping condition was poor)and during installation the gate easily scratched more. I will repaint the gate in summer of 2019. After many attempts to contact them I finally got ahold of Brian. Again,very nice and sympathetic to my situation but ineffective. While trying communicate how unhappy I was with the product and service,Brian finally emailed back offering $400 refund. Seeing as how returning the gate was impossible and the awful experience I had with their company I emailed back saying that $400 seemed a little low. This project involved gate and 200 ' of fence. I had to wait for the gate to arrive before I could install the fencing so it turned into long days working well into the dark on several weekends to complete. While trying to work with Gulf Coast Gate to achieve a satisfactory solution I assured them I wouldn't write a bad review,I just wanted to complete the project and consider it a lesson learned. I try to support small mom and pop businesses as much as possible. This time it bit me in the ass. Anyway,when Brian didn't return my final email regarding some sort of refund I decided to write this as a warning. I should've considered the poor reviews I had read but live and learn. I would not ever consider using these guys again. Poor performance, poor quality and poor communication is a bad combination and not how a business should be run. This is now Feb.2019, 6 months after my last communication with them so I'm quite certain they blew me off and have no intention of making this right. read more

They did a great job installing a beautiful gate. Working well. When we've had questions, Chris has been immediately responsive. Also rebuilt a long wooden fence and did an excellent job on that as well. Highly recommend! read more

Update: We have received paint and all parts that we need to finish installation of our gate.

I ordered my gate package on April 20th 2017 and Chris said it would be delivered in 18 days. I paid the $3500.00 up front as requested and after dozens of phone calls and e-mails the gate sides were delivered on busted pallets 90 days later missing the hinges, openers,controls,wiring, posts,exit wand, key pad and stand, batteries and instructions. Repeated phone calls and e-mails have gone unanswered. BEWARE DO NOT USE THIS SUPPLIER. YOU WON'T GET WHAT YOU PAID FOR!!!! read more

We were looking to have a custom gate for our driveway made and my husband found this company on the internet. At first, the process seemed like just who we wanted to deal with. Chris was very good about answering our questions and responding back to us. We were hopeful. We paid for and ordered our custom 15 foot aluminum driveway gate in July 2018. Chris told us it would take 4 weeks and then would be shipped. We weren't in a huge hurry to get the gate, but after 4 weeks I emailed him asking how the gate was coming along. He said it would be ready to ship the next week, mid week. I told him great..just let me know when it is shipped, how its shipped and tracking info so I could watch for it. The next two weeks came and went. I tried calling and emailing him. Finally got a response...family issues and weather issues. I get that. But then he finally told me the gate was picked up but couldn't supply with with tracking info. When I finally did get information, it showed as being shipped the beginning of October. The gate finally arrived on October 17th. It was dark out and my husband had to help the driver unload the gate from the truck. It was upright on three very heavy pallets wrapped in black plastic. The next morning when I unwrapped it, i noticed damage to the end of the gate. I emailed Chris right away and sent pictures. I should have called the shipping company myself, but didn't. The hinges were not with the gate and he told me three times that he had sent me paint for touch up...still have not seen that. I asked where my opener package was and he said it was shipped, but it wasn't. I finally received that. Bottom line is the shipping company denied the claim and I am left with a gate that is completely bent on the end. It will now be up to us to rent a truck and take it to a facility to be repaired and repainted. Chris has not answered our phone calls or emails since December. Do not deal with this company...he ran our credit card the minute I gave it to him and after that the service really sucked. read more
