We have been coming here for 30+ years when my beloved in-laws owned/ lived in our condo and we visited EVERY year. Nothing... has changed!!! I miss old world lovely natural shops like this with old natural slightly crusty sometimes but real, shop owners. New York City was like that too- - it was that old ethnic multicultural graciously enthusiastic/ laughing- chatty shop owner that made shopping/ doing errands Saturday mornings such fun! EVERY shop was different, every chat- conversation new, genuine, with heart, gusto and meaningful. Those owners truly loved and enjoyed their customers..... and we loved them back. Same owner STILL here! And continues despite his sore hands back muscles to do excellent QUALITY work especially on the beautiful vintage shoes I bought my husband years ago at our favorite consignment shop in Edina, Mn. He also repairs my beautiful handbags ( some couture ) and luggage as well. If complex, take time/ give slow detailed gracious thorough instructions. The owner LOVES my husband's shoes...workmanship materials too expensive to use today. We take very very good care of our aging beautiful clothing and shoes bought in the 80's, 90's early 2000+. We are MOST careful where we get them cleaned repaired altered. Sarasota has really fine folk that still work hard in their small businesses - - I try to highlight these rare owners in my reviews, many are located still in their tiny Gulf Gate shopping area stores- - one of my favorite places. I have two pairs of shoes in for repair. When I went to pick them up, the store was closed until Monday 10/15 and then posted until 10/21. Probably meant 10/22 and now "Closed until further notice." Classic, he did a fantastic job on reheeling my favorite shoes, so I took my boots for a polish!

Didn't even get inside the store. The man was so rude on the phone when I asked him how long the turnaround time would be on a repair as I needed the shoes back within five days. Forget the content but the tone of voice was enough to give my business to someone else. I'm sure the quality of repair for simple repairs is the same everywhere but the difference is customer service. I feel that's what makes the difference between the best and the worst business.
