I brought a pair of ladies shoes in for heels. They charged me $19.80 in advance. Upon picking them up and returning home I looked at the heels. They are Super Tap PLASTIC heels. I feel that I was grossly overcharged for this and will not be returning there for any future repairs. As a side note, you can purchase several pair of these types of heels (Super Taps) on Amazon for a fraction of the cost. You can repair them yourself. I have only dealt with the alteration side of this business. Very pricey; it started out at one price, and the next time I went in, they charged me another. The man who works there also tried to charge me more than the lady quoted me. The last time I was there, the woman asked me to pay up front before the work was done. It always took two weeks for work to get done. I went to Irene Fashion on Bee Ridge, better prices, more efficient, and quicker turnaround. 4 days for the same job that took 2 weeks at Smile. read more

I have been going to this shop for years for both shoe repair and alterations. They consistently do a good job with both kinds of repairs and do not overcharge like some of the alterations places in our area. I recently asked if the wife (Lee?) could rush alterations on a couple of things because I needed them for a business trip and she was able to do that for me. I was very appreciative that she could do that because I know they're super busy and it usually takes quite a bit longer to get my alterations back. Highly recommended this place! read more

Absolutely horrible. Complete scam! I dropped off my shoes to have my zippers replaced, the male owner heard me tell the woman "these are my favorite work shoes" so when he came up to speak to me he was so focused on upselling and replacing the soles of my shoes. I told him right now I just want the zippers replaced. That was $30/ $15 each. Next day he told me they were ready. I went to pick them up - same zippers. He didn't replace anything, he said he just tightened the zipper ? Then said "you didn't want to spend any money here" well that's not true because I did spend $30 there, I just didn't want this guy ripping off the soles of these shoes when they didn't need it! Very unhappy. Took my sons shoes to be cleaned, shines and resoled. Suede shoes were in same condition. Heel was repaired but shoes were not shined and the soles were not cleaned and stained. Ruined another pair. Would not recommend! read more

I had them make a belt for me as I had just a buckle. They used the cheapest, worst leather you could get. Punched the holes too big for the piece that is supposed to keep it in. Didn't add anything to keep the belt in place once towards the end at least a rubber piece or anything to keep it together. Not worth $60 for a belt. I brought this belt in on November 7th and finally get to pick it up today. He forgot my size and had to resize me. Misplaced the material for my belt and also they couldn't find my belt once here. Terrible service and they charge top dollar. 60$ and it's too big. read more

Smile Shoe Repair is incredible! Craftsmanship and Customer Service is over the top. I had a somewhat weird request for a re-sole on my shoes. They literally scoured the globe looking for the right sole, all the time keeping me updated and texting me photos of what they were finding. Honestly, the quality of work was not worth the price. I had a few things altered very simply and some shoes fixed. One of the items wasn't even correctly done when I got there and they fixed it in store with a simple stitch that took 1 minute and it still cost $15. Another item's stitch is already coming undone. I wonder how come they named this place (Smile Shoe Repair)?! They should change it into (Grumpy Shoe Repair) because as you step in there you will face a frowning guy (Doo) who wouldn't smile or greet you and he talks to you in a language that gonna leave you thinking he is cleaning up your shoes just because he wasn't lucky enough to get another decent job! I brought him a pair of shoes last week for cleaning up and repair. He asked me really an overpriced charge and a week to have it done because he doesn't have the materials for the cleaning yet!! I accepted because I was expecting to get a good job at that price. However, I went back after a week to find out that the shoes weren't cleaned at all and he didn't repair it!! He told me he needs another day or otherwise, I can have it back as it is (Attached photos). I asked him at least to repair it, so he sewed it quickly with a white thread and said this is the closest color of threads he has! I asked him to take the thread off and decided to repair it at another place to overcome the hassle. Never be fooled by those unprofessional guys, the lady will put a nice upfront to rip you off eventually an overpriced charge for a shitty service! read more

My first experience with them was great. But then I dropped off a pair of sandals a week ago, they were promised on Monday (a holiday) so I drove the 20 minutes away from my house to pick them up today. The sandals weren't ready because they didn't have the elastic needed - something they knew. No one called me, giving me the chance to take them elsewhere. I travel a lot for work and my wardrobe is important. I'm leaving on an early flight tomorrow and my shoes won't be repaired. Not a huge problem considering the world in which we live, but it stinks for my situation. Unless I can count on someone to call when they are delayed or can't accomplish what they've promised ... it's hard to continue using them. So frustrating! read more
