I've already seen him once since my ordeal at The Orthopedic Group. They did an x-ray and did a short evaluation of my finger after a lengthy consultation about what I had to endure prior. I go for a MRI to determine whether something more serious and severe is going on with my finger. My new doctor thinks it might be a fluid situation possibly. But he wants to make sure by means of the MRI imaging. This is what I've been needing and hoping and praying for. I just feel like the orthopedic group or at least the doctor I had didn't care about me and my way of life or occupation. It felt like a hurry up and get him out of here thing looking back on it. Not much care or thoroughness was taken because I was paying out of pocket instead of insurance. The orthopedic doctor I'm seeing now has done two prior surgeries on the same left hand and he did a very good job. That's why I've decided to go back to him. Also because I just finally got my Medicare insurance started this Feb 2026. I only went to the orthopedic group because of payment plans, biggest mistake of my life to say the least. In addition to this post I have to say that I truly am not trying to put down the orthopedic group. It's the fact that I had a really bad experience there. Many other people love that place but for me it was not good. Dr. Glenzer was my doctor at the orthopedic group and his personality just seemed a bit more in a hurry rather than get it right. At least for me, that's my take on him. I do wish all that go there the very best of luck however. My new and former doctor is very thorough and listens to my concerns very carefully. He's done carpal tunnel surgery and trigger thumb surgery for me which were very successful. He also did a steroid shot injection back years ago on my right thumb which did wonders. The only other thing I might say about the orthopedic group is that after Dr. Glenzer had agreed to do a free incision surgery but I was billed afterwards a small amount. They also required me to pay for the office visit the day of the free surgery. This feels like , pay us for screwing up your finger with a botched needle procedure. Totally unacceptable!!! If it had gone successfully I would have had no problem but the second procedure needle surgery was just bad ! I feel very let down by that establishment personally. Good luck to you if you choose to go to the orthopedic group establishment practice. After my MRI results it's been determined by my new orthopedic doctor that I have lots of scar tissue. My question to the Orthopedic Group is why wasn't the scar tissue removed at the time of the follow up free surgery? I also have some fluid buildup! I'm very angry about how Dr. Glenzer took care or not of me and the surgery. It felt like I was not a priority or a concern. He agreed to do the following up surgery after all my pain and frustrations. Now I'm getting billing statements from the orthopedic group. I have a voicemail saved of his call to me telling me that he wanted to make things right with me and agreeing to do the follow up surgery for free. I was also charged an office fee the day I went there for the follow up surgery. As a guitarist that depends on my fingers to make income this is just not acceptable. Total disregard and respect to me and my profession is what I'm feeling. I now have to go through some grueling physical therapy to try and get back to some sort of normal. My new orthopedic doctor says he could go back into the surgery process to remove scar tissue buildup and possible fluid but he wants that to be a last option. I for one will never go back to the orthopedic group for anything. The whole experience with them and Dr Glenzer has been nothing short of a nightmare for me.

I was not impressed at all with the acupuncture portion of my appt. The Dr. had no priority on…read morekeeping on schedule. As I was sitting waiting for him, he continued to chat about unrelated stories with the patient he had finished with. When I finally was called to come to his room, I asked how long this would take. He said 20 minutes so I stayed with that understanding. I expected to get the full back done, but his question was vague when asked what's the area bothering me. I mentioned just recently my back had sent me to the ER but also mentioned that my prior provider would put a TENS unit on my lower back while doing acupuncture on my full back to include neck and shoulders since those are all areas of chronic pain. He proceeded to only put needles, maybe 6-8 of them in the lower back, and behind my knees. He left the room and said 20 minutes I'll be back. Some of the needles hurt bad when he inserted and I never had that with my Florida provider. The table was deficient with the horseshoe pad because it had no Velcro to keep the pad in place. It kept sliding and the hard plastic under would cause discomfort. Maybe he needs to lay down and let me hook him up. Anyhow, 32 minutes later he comes in and that is over 50% more time than he stated so that made my next appt late. He didn't care and I bet he just conversated with someone else without keeping on schedule with me. I won't be going back. No apology was offered. I had to punch the wall hoping to get his attention to get in there. Rip off from insurance. I wish they could not pay him for his shortfalls...

The Orthopedic Group, Fairhope, Alabama The following chain…read moreof events that follows is from personal experience I had visited this group of orthopedic doctors on one other occasion. My experience had been good in that my appointment was kept on time and I was in and out in a timely manor. My second visit was at the recommendation of my regular orthopedic doctor. Again, I was in and out in a timely manor. From there, all seems to have gone down hill. I was scheduled for surgery on my left thumb on March 21 2019 at 1:00 pm. I was given written instructions to follow prior to surgery. According to the instructions I was to have nothing to eat or drink after 12 am on Wednesday night. I was to be at the out-patient facility at 11:30 on Thursday morning. All of these things were followed, even though industry standards suggest that there should be no food or drink only 6 hours prior to surgery. When I arrived at 11:30 there were 2 other patients already there and a 4th came in shortly after. At approximately 2:00 pm a nurse came to the door and called the third person back to be prepped. She told me it would not be much longer. When I was finally taken back for surgery prep, I ask the nurse why we were all there at the same time. I was told that it was just in case someone didn't show up. I specifically ask here if that meant that the doctors time was valuable and our time as patients wasn't. Her reply was, that pretty much sums it up!!! I finally went in for the procedure at approximately 3:30 and was I was back in the room in about an hour. The doctor did come by and tell me that the procedure was a little more extensive than he thought it was going to be and that was the reason it took a little longer than he thought. I left the facility to go home with a prescription for pain meds in hand a little before 5 pm. I arrived the the drug store to fill prescriptions, to be informed that the doctor failed to sign the prescription. This was a prescription with narcotics, so his signature was REQUIRED! I call his office only to get the on call nurse who called him and came back on the phone with me to tell me there was nothing she could do but to phone something else, but it would not be as strong. (As it ended up, the phoned in prescription was only about half as effective as the original would have been). Lets recap so far...No food or drink for 15 hours and 30 minutes prior to surgery, note the 6 hour industry standard, and arrive 4 hours prior to surgery,(for doctors convenience). I was sent home with a prescription that I could not have filled, not even a phone call from the doctor with an apology, nor any offer to call one of his colleagues in the local area to have them write a prescription for adequate pain relief. All this combined shows little of no compassion or concerns for his patients well being. I guess his attitude was that since he was not the one in pain, it really didn't matter. I went for a follow up visit today, 4/4/19. Stitches removed and all seem fine, however even after a week, there was no apology for failing to sign the prescription from the week before. Which just reinforces my theory about no compassion for his patient. I would think long and hard before going back to The Orthopedic Group for any procedure.
