I had an unnerving experience here. On one occasion, I and 1 other patron were in this establishment; I have done business here in the past. On this particular visit, the only other patron was engaged in conversation about guns and ammo. After about 15 minutes, the proprietor gave his attention to me, the only other patron did not make a purchase, at least not while I was there. I concluded my business in short time. On another visit, I was granted entry (door buzzer). Instead, I was the only patron. It appeared that only the proprietor, his assistant and me were the only people inside of the establishment. The proprietor appeared to be doing paperwork to the left of me. To the right of me was the assistant who appeared to be wiping down the counter and various other things, like the telephone and such. Not wanting to intrude, I sat on a stool while getting no attention. After approximately 3 or 4 minutes, I got up to leave. To exit the door had to be buzzed. About 4 steps to the door, the buzzer immediately sounded to allow me to exit. Not one single word was spoken between us. I used this establishment for FFL services, not anymore. Freestate range is a short distance away and the cost of transfer is slightly cheaper and services professional and polite. read more

It's good. The team that work there are chill and relax. I even purchased my first pistol from there. Plus, they take Apple Pay. The only issue is they can be on the high side with some of their prices. I said SOME. I am really surprised to see negative reviews online about this shop. I am also surprised to read that some people felt uncomfortable with Mr. Bob or believed him to be racist. As a black woman I'll say this- Mr. Bob made my first handgun purchase a breeze! He is very knowledgeable when it comes to firearms and was eager to answer questions throughout the purchase. Good place, helpful staff. Who called anyone here racist is full of it. Sure it's small, but warehouses put me off, I like individualized attention. I don't know that I'd make a special trip, but it's a place I like to visit when I'm in the area. Definitely worth a visit. If you are nearby, they do special orders. read more

This place is pretty far from the city and definitely not worth the drive. They have a lot of firearms and interesting things to look at if you're a hunting enthusiast like taxidermy and a variety of targets. The place is pretty small, and everything is crammed in there so if you're claustrophobic, then maybe not the best place to visit. We were considering selling an almost new winchester shotgun and had been to a few places to get prices. They offered us $175, which is CRAZY LOW and by far the lowest offer we received. No thanks! We also looked at some of their other firearms for sale and on average, their prices are MUCH HIGHER than other comparable pawn shops, gun stores, and even bass pro considering many of the guns here are not brand new. We did however pick up some ammo for a decent price. The service is not friendly or informative, so just know what you want before stopping in. read more

Grew up in the area. Was looking for a good carbine, called around to a bunch of stores and the price I received at the gun shop was about average or 5$ more. Service was okay both times I went to look and purchase the gun. Was in and out in 15 minutes. Small and older looking place, but I Kinda like it. Ammo is decently priced. Hahaha, I like how this place is appropriately named "Gun Shop." I was searching for the place I bought my Glock 34, and I knew it was in Essex. Haha I like how there was literally NO effort in thinking up a creative store name. But I really don't care what the **** my gun store is named. I digress, per usual. The price for my Glock 34 Gen 4 was FANTASTIC. I don't remember the exact price, but I have shopped around LITERALLY 6-8 stores in the Maryland area for this exact model. I have been searching for MONTHS. I even considered joining the Glock Shooting Society specifically for the discount. I swear the price was like 100-150$ (ish?) lower than ALL other stores (I did NOT end up joining the GSS so I did NOT have a discount). Yes, I am anal about pricing, specifically for large purchases. This is a small shop, with locals frequently sitting around and chatting. They are decently friendly. (Again, per my other reviews, I really don't care how friendly the staff is. I just want a good price.) This store is in a not-so-classy town, with parking being moderately difficult. The store is well-stocked, but very small and not-so-clean. (Is there no door nob? Lol.) But HONESTLY? I don't give a ****. It's simply PERFECT for my purposes. It's beyond that. I love good prices. (I'll drive anywhere!) Been here a few times, usually to buy ammo and sometimes just to browse. The staff is always polite and very helpful. They are eager to let you hold the weapons and can answer any question you have. They also have a large stock of used rifles and shotguns. My only gripe is that they primarily stock used firearms, but they can get you whatever you want. Been there a few times, overpriced and staff is completely rude. Especially the older gentlemen there. Horrible experience, look elsewhere. Would not recommend to my worst enemy. Great selection , and service is fine enough. However I bought a gun with a adjustable stock, and the stock was pinned on the one I bought. The model display gun was not pinned, and I was not told about the pinned stock at all. I call the shop about it and they gave me a very crass " not our problem attitude".. I was told " usually when people come in here, they know about the guns they are looking at." No help what so ever, and they were even a bit demeaning .. Most likely wont be coming back read more

Buyer beware I purchased a gun from from these people they over charged and held gun for 6 days instead of the standard 3 days lost my paperwork and could not find firearm as well. Treated me like criminal and as well as lying to me. Had messed up the NICS transfer paperwork by having the information wrong causing the FBI NICS application to be to denied. They held gun at their shop the whole time and they charged me a 20% restocking fee totaling $60 on gun that they could not sell me because of their mistake well as $10 fee for application. If i were you I would never buy anything from this place. read more
