A hotel that not only included a swamp view but also a beach full of seagrass/seaweed and reeked of fish. All of the friendly hotel staff actually laughed and told us it was the worst time of the year to possibly go! Yes, the price was very good but I do not mind splurging for an experience. The vacation booked was not only my first flight but my first trip ever! I'm from Houston and if you know: You know the only beach nearby is Galveston. That's all i've ever known. Google pictures if you need a reference. So, you can only imagine my excitement at the thought of an all inclusive resort on a beach in Cancun. All I have ever wanted was to experience a pretty beach with clear water. I don't know about y'all but when I hear Cancun that's what I think of! To my surprise July & August are the nastiest times on the beach to visit. Guess when my 4 night trip was scheduled MONTHS in advance for? July!! I admit I should've done my research but I thought that was the whole point of using a travel advisor? To take the stress out of the endless searches. It is their job to be experts in the field of travel. Cheryl J. was pretty prompt in responding to my complaint email sent the day of my arrival. However, all that was offered was a change in hotel with an up-charge of course! Or a flight home the next day with no refund. (It was a family vacation so the point was to stick together and not separate. Otherwise I would have taken a hotel change in a heartbeat.) All in all, a lesson was well learned. I will never be using this company again and want to warn others from making the mistake I did in doing so.

Loved the condo he selected for us. Also, 2 years ago, Doug planned our trip to Scotland. Every airplane connection, every hotel, the train from London, everything went perfectly. I emailed them to discuss the situation and voice my extreme frustration and displeasure over the charge and their handling of the situation, and their performance as a whole. I told them that I would others know what had happened with Castaways Travel. They then took it upon themselves to contact the owner of the resort where we are members and lied to them, claiming I threatened them. All in an attempt to cause trouble for us. Castaways previously hosted an event there, so they use that as the excuse for contacting them. Although they are nice people, dealing with this company has been chaotic and stressful. They are very unprofessional. They refuse to take any accountability at all for their mistake. I would never recommend this company to anybody.
