Last week, I found myself in a bit of a pickle when my car key broke. Bummer! It's been my one and only key for almost 10 years and I've always prided myself on never losing my keys. Update- 1 week after getting the truck MD inspected my front brakes started grinding. Goes to show their inspection isn't a real safety inspection. If an actual inspection and measurements on the pad were taken, why are my fronts almost metal to metal? I've religiously used them for vehicle inspections since I've moved here. Unfortunately this will be my last. Never have I been charged a reinspection fee for a vehicle that failed for something minor. When I commented that, Paul became very pompous and wanted to argue. I let them know this will be my last time doing business with them, his response "Okay that's fine" tells me everything I need to know. As a business owner myself, sometimes it's not about making a quick buck as it is making a customer. Guy motors has gotten very greedy, with time it will catch up with them. read more

A family member recommended Guy motors and I decided to try them out. My 2005 Ford diesel hadn't been running very well for some time and the fuel efficiency was horrible. The men at Guy motors replaced several parts on the engine and replaced a vacuum ump on my AC. After getting the truck back I couldn't have been happier, it started and ran stronger right off. Had been a regular customer here until recently. However recent events have guaranteed us to never go back. We have five vehicles that seem to always need something fixed so we were pretty much a dream customer in my eyes. Things started to deteriorate when we had to bring two of them back for corrective repairs. One for a wheel balance issue the other for a idiot light. The last few times we took our cars there the prices were inflated. The first few times we just blew off. The third and final I called and tried to discuss it with them so we could put the matter behind us and move forward. Skip was arrogant and basically had I don't care what you think attitude, which goes a long with his lack of eye contact and constantly having his back to you when your at the shop trying to do business. On top of that when we went to pick up the last vehicle we allowed them to touch, the person mowing their lawn blew grass over every single car in the parking lot, one which was a Corvette! I bring this to their attention and they said we know it's happening that's why we moved your car. So they knew it was happening and allowed 30-40 other cars to get grass and debree blown on them. Is that how you treat people's cars? Omg. Further they said oh it's just a Corvette nothing special, just another car. I tried to escalate this to Paul the manager whom had the same attitude. I called the owner Don whom said I have to go along with whatever they say. I allow them to run the store and I can't rub them the wrong way. For real! Talk about the tail wagging the dog. I have only the highest praise for Guy Motors. The A/C on my 10-year-old Mazda broke during a really hot summer day. I brought my car in on a Thursday, and while I waited, they diagnosed the problem in less than an hour. It was a complicated repair with some expensive parts, and because they were so busy, they weren't sure the repair could be done by Friday. Unfortunately, we had a big family driving vacation starting on Saturday. So they gave me a loaner car and a promise they would do their best. Not only did they find a way to complete the job and return our fully-repaired vehicle by Friday, but some legwork by Jody, Paul, and Skip in the two shops managed to save me $200 off the original quote by working different part sources. Rip-off. Over priced. I was referred and recommended to Mobil 1/Guy Motors by someone. My family members have also taken their vehicles there. I took my car in for a check engine light that kept coming on and off. Guy Motors charged me $150 just to tell me what was wrong with the car. Just to look at it! Just to plug their engine light code reader in for 5 minutes to give me a FALSE diagnostic! They told me I needed a new catalytic converter that would cost $900 and $300-$600 more for labor. WRONG! I needed new O2 sensors. They didn't mention one thing about O2 sensors. Once I replaced those for only $100, that check engine light has not come back on! Wouldn't give me a refund for the false diagnostic either. Insisted the light will come back on because the catalytic converter is "actually just not up to par." They admitted I didn't need a new one, that it just wasn't as efficient as it was when it was brand new, and still didn't refund me for the false diagnostic! My sister was not charged a diagnostic in the past when her car involved much more time to figure out what was wrong. Guy Motors will not be receiving business from my family or I ever again. read more

Last Friday, my 2004 Ford Explorer's ABS light and 4x4 light came on and I heard a whiny grinding noise which seemed to be coming from from the transfer case. I stopped in at Guy Motors Mobil 1 Shop in Mechanicsville to check grease in the transfer case and differentials and have my tires rotated, hoping for a miracle or an easy fix. Service was fabulous, the shop immaculate and inviting, the guys courteous , efficient and very knowledgeable. The news wasn't good, but as luck would have it, the manager from the adjoining shop, Guy Motors Repair Shop serendipitously stopped in. He conferred with the mechanics and approached me and asked if he could test drive the car to help diagnose the problem. The news was bad, and the grinding noise and clunking was getting worse by the minute. It was suggested that I drop the car off next door and was promised a diagnosis within the hour. I live in the neighborhood and was even given a ride home. Diagnosis, I felt could be difficult; a whiny bearing noise, a now clunking, grinding four wheel drive issue and visions of cost prohibitive repairs needed. I was very concerned. True to their word, they called me in a timely manner, as promised. The problem turned out to be worn out bearings in the front hub, and sensors causing the four wheel drive to try to engage with an attendant problem with the truck's computer. The estimate for repairs were very reasonable, and they were able to rush repairs so that I was able to have it that evening. My Explorer's computer reprogrammed, the new bearings and hub installed and back on the road in a matter of hours. One always worries when taking a car to a repair shop, that unnecessary repairs will be added or that costs will be astronomical. You need not worry here. These days, parts and shop time can add up quickly. It's fabulous to know, that if you have a problem, that it can be repaired locally by trained mechanics, using the latest diagnostic equipment, and you will be treated fairly and honestly. You can't go wrong here. My highest recommendation, simply, the BEST! Thank you. read more
