I've been using Myers Auto for over 30 years. Neal Jr and his crew are the best in the business. I have worked with 3 generations of Myers now. They never attempt to sell you more service than you need. I have gone in there thinking I needed several things and they would say "you really don't need all that right now". This business is DISHONEST AND FINANCIALLY PREDATORY- especially when it comes to women. Do not be fooled by the positive reviews you see here. To get an accurate understanding of how dishonest and predatory this business is particularly when it comes to women sort the reviews by looking at the lowest reviews. On Sunday, I had my vehicle towed to this shop. My AC had stopped working and after driving for sometime fumes started coming from the front of the car and liquids were dripping from the bottom of the car. When my car got brought in, I called and explained exactly that. They told me it would cost about $67 to do a diagnosis of the issue. The next day, Tim called me and said the issue is my radiator and I needed to replace the radiator. He told me the total cost would be $764. I told him I would call back because I wanted to get a second opinion. I wanted to get a second opinion because this past December I brought my car in to them because my AC/ heater was not working. Then I paid them over $600. Now six months later I was having the same issues. Because I couldn't move the car to another mechanic, I contacted a mobile mechanic. In my messages to the mobile mechanic I said the same thing that I told this business. My AC stopped working and the car started fuming. In the end, I could not coordinate a time with the mobile mechanic due to work, so I decided to go with Myers. The next day I called them to okay the service. Tim now quotes $849, instead of the $764 he originally told me. I explained to him that was not the price he quoted me before. I wrote the price down, but he lied and said it was what he told me. I negotiated the price to $813 because I just wanted my car fixed. I okayed the service after he assured me he did a diagnostic and the issues would be fixed. Of course, I'm thinking the AC would also be fixed. When they called me to say the car is ready. My sister goes to pick up the car and had me on facetime. The very first thing I asked her to do was to check the AC before paying. LO AND BEHOLD THE AC WAS NOT FIXED. When I brought this issue up. They lied that I never mentioned the issue with my AC. We are in the peak of the summer, Why would I not mention my AC not working??? Also, why would I mention it to the mobile mechanic (see my screenshots) and not mention it to Myers, the people who have my car and are fixing my car???? Instead of them admitting their error. They tried to charge me an additional $1000 to fix the AC talking about there is an issue with the AC compressor. So they wanted me to pay a total of $1800!!!! They are ridiculous. Of course I contested this. I called Neil Myers the owner to resolve the issue cordially. To my surprise he started yelling at me and threatening me that "he knows my type" and that if I don't pay in cash I will not get my car. It was so TRAUMATIZING. I never had a business owner speak to me like that, especially when it is THEIR ERROR. The way he spoke to me I was scared because like I said my younger sister was there alone. So I immediately left work to go there myself. Then Brandon (Myers??) got involved and again instead of rectifying the situation and admitting their error also lied that I never told them. So he called me stating the call is being recorded. Then it was clear he was trying to create a recording to cover themselves legally. He also tried to tell me that I needed to pay in cash or certified check before they release my car. I called them out that it is against the law if it was not previously disclosed to the customer. In the end, I paid $749, instead of $813 because Brandon said he would give me a "discount". I found it laughable that he thought that would be sufficient to rectify the fact that I paid $749 to "fix" a radiator that is sold on amazon for less than $99 and my AC is still not working. I don't recommend this business to anyone. Also by the way the positive reviews are doctored. As a first time customer they will harass you for days to leave a review, which I am assuming why so many people feel compelled to leave these 4 star reviews. I took my vehicle to Myers after having work done at two other auto repair shop. my vehicle was in really bad shape. I had used Myers years ago for minor repairs and was always treated well and was satisfied with their work, this time was totally different. When I took my vehicle in they did the diagnostic gave me the results and I gave them permission to make the repairs. my vehicle was there for more than a week when I picked my car up and drove approximately five miles my engine light came on and the car started backfiring and shut off I was able to get off the highway. I waited 10 to 15 minutes and the car finally started. once I got home, I called the shop they gave me every excuse in the book as to what was happening to the car. My vehicle was in and out of their service department for more than three months. to make a long story short, my vehicle was at Myers for a total of three or four months, I paid over two thousand dollars and my vehicle still is not running. The last thing I had replaced was my fuel pump. At the present time every light on my panel is on. I am eighty one years old living on a fixed incom, this has been very frustrating and I wouldn't recommend Myers to my family or friend as a matter of fact I wouldn't wish them on my worst enemy. Horrible service. Some places just give you a vibe and this is one. They printed a receipt for $670.40 worth of charges then said the total cost will be $1100. Called and said for a explanation and the man said " I'm not talking to him nice enough and hung up the phone". This after they had my car for over a week and didn't fix the problem. Go here and you will be paying for incompetent people to guess at what the problem is and charge you for them "fixing" the wrong thing. Only an older white man would think it appropriate to tell a black customer to watch their tone because they asked for an itemized receipt and details. The owners excuse is that Tim has an emergency and he's the only one that can answer a question. So if Tim doesn't return to work then what??? Update: the owner just TEXTED my phone upping the charge to $1300 because of the review i left on Google. He also told me I can only talk to their black employee Tim and I need Jesus. Text attached. Funny how the price continues to increase but they specifically said they can't do anything without Tim. Beware. Update 4/27- Tim John told us the owner doesn't find us trustworthy so we must pay by cash. The car is also inoperable which we figured they would mess with once they sent a text upping the charge for the negative review. A hit dog will always holler. Had a loose battery terminal. They said my battery was bad although I had it tested and it was good. I told them to go ahead and change it. Fast track a few weeks later I go to give my wife a jump start...lo and behold. It's the same battery. I know because I installed it two years ago and I damaged the positive terminal by rigging it with a nail and the nail was sitting on top of the battery this morning. Told them about it. From the customer service (Heather & Tim, and others), to the mechanics, and the entire operation from management is great. They are honest and will NOT do anything that they think you do not need. They assess your vehicle and will call you to tell you things you need and these you do not. I asked to "weatherization" my car, not knowing anything that is included. Edit: The owner said they were going to make things right but now I can't get in contact with him. I was hoping for a resolution but they don't care about customers at all and will tell you what you want to hear. I will never go back here and suggest you avoid this place also. Dropped my car off for inspection at Myer's since I bought the car from a Virginia dealership. The body was in perfect condition and when I got the car back, there was a fresh scratch and dent on the driver's side of my new car that was not there 6 hours prior when the car was dropped off. They denied any wrong doing but the paint was still freshly chipped along with the dent. They have a good deal and do good inspections but this is out of lIne. They owe me about $500 for auto repair that I will never see so maybe this review can warn others before they dent your car up also. read more

I DO NOT recommend going here. I came here to get a MD inspection on my new car and after they were finished my car had scratches on it. They claim they didn't see anything on the cameras. The guy even said he could see how the man could've done it. But I can't prove it! Like what? And said it was nothing they could do! Bad business. It went from we can wash it to see if it comes out to we can't do nothing. Which is crazy! I know for a fact them scratches were not there! Bad experience! There fuel station had a $15 minimum.... they may want to look into laws. Because $10 is the most they can require. Google it. Hopefully they change it before I take the unprofessional business practice to proper authority's. Then i try to get fuel and use my fuel rewards points and then find out the pump is faulty... that's no problem because stuff happens and breaks. But the personnel would not honor the price I was going to pay with my 10 cents off When I tried to go to another pump. So I lost the 10 cents off and didnt get a gallon of fuel. Not happy with the so called service I received this week! Paid over $200 this week and I still have the same issue. I might as well have gone to the dealership, which I now have to go there anyway. I would definitely not recommend this place! Dana I was only at your shop one time and I was not told that it needed to be reset, so I'm not sure who told you that incorrect information. The person who worked on my vehicle said he thought it was working again when it was not. So again my one visit was a waste of time and money. I was only called back by someone at your shop the next day after you saw my initial review on yelp. I was told I could bring my vehicle back again to see if they could find the problem but my response was I only had the one day to leave my vehicle there and did not have time to bring it back there again since I do not live in that area and have a day job. They received me very late , they were about to close . I had to leave my car there and the lady in the office helped me to find a rental car arranged . They got back to me the day after by noon and car was already fixed and ready by the evening of next day . Originally, I went to Mr. Tire in Waldorf, MD at the Mall Circle location to get an oil change and have the back rear right tire checked because it was making a grinding noise, so I asked about having the brakes inspected too. 2 hours later I am told I don't need brakes (which is fine) but that no one heard the sound I was talking about. So all they did was an oil change in the time I was waiting there. Moreover Kevin, the man working at the front counter was incredibly unhelpful and outright rude to me as I asked about the condition of the car. His customer service was appalling- perhaps if I were a man I would have been treated with more respect and dignity. Rolling his eyes and nodding his head as I asked, "did anyone take the car out to hear the noise." Making me feel as though I was hearing things and completely crazy for suggesting such a thing. His response to me was drive the car around for a while and bring it back and drop it off when I hear the noise. Then when he asked for payment he said, "which type of payment?" To which I responded, "debit." Kevin's response, "that doesn't help me any, which type?" Not offering further clarification that he was looking for the brand of card. So I left, hopped in my car and promptly heard the grinding noise I was talking about as I drove away from the store. I will never EVER go back there and I recommend everyone head to Myers Auto Service instead. So I reached out on Nextdoor for recommendations from neighbors. People unanimously said they LOVED Myers. Everyone said the staff were incredibly helpful, honest, and treated folks with dignity and respect. I 100% agree with the recommendation to come to Myers. As soon as I walked in Tim was attentive, courteous, knew exactly what I had explained over the phone and remembered which problems my car was having. I had to wait in the store while I was there and Russel came and checked-in with me frequently telling me exactly what was wrong, that I was not crazy there was definitely a noise and what they were working on and doing to fix it. I cannot recommend them enough. James was also so kind, wonderful, and you can tell each person truly cares about each of their customers and their needs. The only reason they don't get 5 stars is because I ended up paying a for a misdiagnosed issue (mistakes happen), resulting in a double charge when the real issue was discovered. That was only for one of my vehicles though, and the car runs like a champ now. PLUS, the price of the double tap was still way cheaper than going to the dealership. But what's not to like about this place? Friendly/professional/knowledgeable service, quick turnaround, close proximity, and timely updates are what keep me coming back. A nice local facility to avoid the high expense of dealership service center work ... sort of. The front staff is informed, polite, and best of all, is willing to listen to the vehicle symptoms AND your possible interpretation of problem (if you seem 'with it'.) This alone can save a lot of time for the mechanic, if he already knows certain items are recently replaced or known good. The overall work was done correctly and very quickly (distributor/timing adjustment), within a day. Cons: To get picky, there were oily handprints all over the door frame and hood/fender. A quick clean-up and re-waxing took care of it, but for the price, I'd expect a more tidy finish. The price structure is a bit high, but that's what you pay for convenience. The parts mark-up is about 250%, and with AutoZone across the street, trans/delivery charges shouldn't even be considered. The $99.00 evaluation fee is within fair market rates, but should be included in the labor charge if the work is performed. For now, it's separate, and so you get in effect a $99.00 surcharge. YES, I would use Myers Auto again in a pinch, if I couldn't do the work myself at home. They are a time and effort saver, and the cost should consider the reduced stress on you. A courtesy that should be added is a shuttle service to get you home if the repair is expected to take more than 1 day...but that would be in BMW/Mini/MB/Lexus service level quality. I was in today to get my vehicle inspected. It was about 95 degrees outside and I had my 3 month old son with me. Because of this, they were very quick and also allowed me to wait inside in the air conditioning so my son wouldn't be too hot. I was asked several times if I needed anything, or if I would like some water. They also provided me with a place to privately breastfeed my son, which meant so much to me. As a young and new mother it is difficult to go out and do things because my son is on a feeding and nap schedule. I was so pleased that the employees working today accommodated me so well. They fixed the problem and gave me a quote for a ton of other stuff I knew I need but have been neglecting as I decide whether or not to keep the car. And late evening pickup was VERY convenient.
