And my Persian mother in law ( who has slowly stirred fessenjan down to a thick black-purple paste) agrees! This is my mother in law's fessenjan. Mazeh's is a dead ringer for this. So if you like your fessennjan mouth puckeringly sour, this is the place. I'm attaching a photo of my mother in law's fessenjan. Mazeh's looks and tastes like hers. And that's as high a compliment as I can give to any dish. Oh, and everything else is fantastic. The kebab were all perfect. The tadig. The tea. The desserts. I don't know what it was - the beautiful lighting and decor, indoor/outdoor feel with the windows wide open on a warm night, the delicious smells wafting in the air, or that all the people inside seemed to be having such a good time conversing and dining - pure enjoyment! We were seated and I tried all my favorites: eggplant appetizer - delicious. Kebab koubideh - wonderful. Ghormeh sabzi stew - just perfect. The variety and quantity of Persian dishes on this menu was unlike anything I've seen at any Persian restaurant here in the States. Friendly service with the owner stopping by to make sure we had everything we needed. I only wish I could have come back a second time before leaving Paris.
