I regret choosing this company five years ago and really wish I had done more research beforehand. I paid $2,400 for a hot water heater at the time, which I now realize was crazy. The unit is still under warranty and has been confirmed by the manufacturer as needing replacement. However, I've learned that I'm required to use Gillece for the warranty replacement, not because the manufacturer requires it, but because Gillece installed a specific Rheem tank model that other local companies cannot get a replacement for under the warranty. The warranty only covers the cost of the tank itself- not the labor. When I called Gillece to ask about next steps, I was told there would be a $65 fee just to have a technician come out to confirm replacement is needed, even though the manufacturer has already confirmed it. I was also unable to get any sort of labor estimate over the phone. And I looked back at my invoice from the first tank and it doesn't give any price breakdown of tank vs labor. Based on what I've since learned, the labor cost is likely to be substantial. Local companies have quoted far less for full installation than what I originally paid here (five years ago!). At this point, I guess I'm going to not use the warranty at all because I don't want to deal with this company again. I KNOW I would pay more for just the labor than I would for the tank plus labor with other local companies. I encourage anyone considering this company to get multiple quotes. read more

Back in 2019 I had some pluming done thru them. A $99 unclog drain service in the end cost me $37k and job still was not completed properly. My local boro had to step in and fix the problem. This company scams people. They pay people to give 5-star reviews by discounting service. Just a heads up. We called them about an HVAC issue, and Ron decided to walk through our house "to see if anything else needed fixing". He then sold us a new water heater and a major plumbing repair to the tune of 24k. During the repair, the servicement cracked a water main which started pouring water through our walls and floor the next day. We called them as soon as we found it, and they first denied any responsibility for the issue and then still have not come out to fix the problem (even though "their work is under warranty for a year"). We've had to hire a separate plumber to come out and fix the issue. Absolute garbage service, would absolutely not recommend anyone use them. read more

Our generator is older and needed service. Gillece sent out a younger man to service it. He said it is too old to work on, needs a control board which he could not find online to order. Stressed us as he told us to look on eBay for the board. Told us we need a new generator at a cost of $16,000!!!! Ended up doing a bunch of unnecessary repairs then charged over $25,000 for maybe $5000 worth of work that didn't need done in the first place and never fixed the plug. They pulled the meter without getting the necessary paperwork from the power company. They hot tapped a new service to the house illegally and never had an inspection done on the new work. Claimed there was a gas leak and replaced a bunch of lines which was also B.S. They won't return my calls or give me any reason why the work needed done in the first place. The original tech said our drain was bowed and clogged, so it needed to be replaced. Then, a series of different plumbers came out and created a new drain line for less than 1/2 of my sink/toilet/shower drains. So, either the old drain is fine, and I was charged an exorbitant amount for nothing, or 1/2 my drains are still going through the old damaged line. The worst part, they won't call me back to discuss this. They also damaged my concrete sidewalk with the excavator. Just a terrible experience. Don't call Gillece. read more

He then tried to upsell me a 200-amp service for an outrageous $16,000--a job that typically costs $2,000-$4,000 elsewhere. Save your money and avoid this company! I've never written such a bad review before. This company was a nightmare. If you're clueless to HVAC, they will take advantage of you. Here's my saga -- TLDR: They killed my heat for over a week through thanksgiving, repeatedly told me my situation was not an emergency (other calls were I guess) and despite asking for management to simply call and discuss the mess they left me in they never called once. I had to call every day. If I didn't I'd probably still be sitting here without any communication. Lastly, I trusted them (my fault) to charge fair prices; I needed a new contactor. I looked it up later. It's a $8.50 part and they charged me $800. I did the math, let's assume 1hr for travel and install (took the dude 15 min to install it)...I paid $790/hr to install. But I guess that's not enough payment to even warrant a phone call...I wouldn't welcome these jackals into my home ever again. The story: Heat wasn't not working right but it was mildly there, I called Gillece and they "rewired" my smart thermostat hoping that would fix it (expensive). It didn't but I wasn't home to test and the wife didn't notice before he left. I called again and got them back in, the found the contactor was shot and said it was $800 to fix. The heat was working at this point, since the contactor was stuck on and AC was running with the heat. Installer killed the board when he installed the contactor. Heat now was officially dead and they suggested a new board at my expense. I cannot prove the board was not damaged before this mess considering my initial issue so I'm at their mercy to replace and get it running -- they said it'd be here in a day.... Next day I called and no board. We're now in 20 degree weather with no heat. Thanksgiving came, I let it go. Friday I called and they said they had other emergencies. Apparently leaving me with no heat does not constitute an emergency. Saturday I called, same response, promised to come Monday.....called Monday ohhh well the tech is too busy we'll get you Tuesday. They literally left me over a week without heat on a board they fried. No one called me, management never responded, dispatcher was my only contact. I tried several times to get a technical manager on the phone and I was told they were too busy. To say they screwed me over is an understatement. All around horrible to work with, I've never been so screwed over by a contractor in my life. Several thousand dollars later I got what I needed, a week too late. See above for price gouging numbers. Had someone just called me and had an honest conversation it would've helped immensely. I was offered no call, no help, and expected to pay in full for their exorbitant pricing despite the mess they left me in. What choice did I have? I later learned from talking to others that Gillece is known for insanely high prices. Apparently there was an article in the paper years ago about this very thing. Wish I knew that, not sure why they have good reviews on google maps. Check the BBB, it's garbage. Never again. read more

I usually review food but my recent experience with Gillece warrants a review as well. I had water damage from a sink, which ruined the vanity and also the ceiling drywall below it. So I called Gillece out, and the guy who showed up barely listened to a word I said. Spent little time truly investigating the source of the leak, and wrote off any comments or insight I had as the homeowner. He clearly wanted to get in and out as quickly as possible. I told him the shower had a rattling noise and he said it was just loose screws inside the handle fixture, meanwhile pipes in the whole house shook. He said the sink was broke at the valve, meanwhile after I myself was investigating parts of the sink did I find the leak myself. Terrible, terrible customer service and attitude. That wasn't even the worst part... I get the invoice and he quotes me nearly $2,200 to simply replace the faucet and valves. That is insulting. The sad thing is people who don't know any better would call them and just pay that. I found another company to come out and for $980, they fixed the sink, valves AND fix and repair the drywall, AND replace the whole vanity. And that price even includes the price of the new vanity! I truly hope people see this review and pass on Gillece. They should be reported to the BBB for their gross estimates and taking advantage of people. Shame on you. read more

Was confirmed for the morning window 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. Called at 1:30 p.m. to be told that no one is available today. This is EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL, and a waste of my time. He was very patient explaining to me their was no problem with my plumbing and told me reasons for there not being a problem. He gave me his card and wrote his cellphone number on the back to text him if I saw any problem with the water rising from the sewage drain. I contacted company to get the 5 outlet special plus I need to get 2 lights done in the back of home. The appointment was set for Saturday morning, however company called and said that their technician was not able to come until the afternoon. Afternoon came and company called and said they couldn't get someone out until the next morning. Company then called again early that morning and said that the technician called off and another technician couldn't come until that afternoon. Technician arrived, and I asked for a total price for the service and technician stated they had to go out to van to get price. Technician never came back and left. I called the company and told them what happened and they stated that the technician had an emergency and they would not be able to get someone else to come out until next month. I told them this was very bad customer service and the girl on the phone just giggled and said well you feel how you feel. THEY ARE NOT INSURANCE FRIENDLY! THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF IF YOU ARE YOUNG AND AN ELDERLY. We called them because they are 24/7. We had water leak into basement and furnace. They sent someone out same day. We met Ron "the manager". He was very determined to "show you the deals" and "let me show you our deal book". He stated it after every sentenced while trying to explain what our "problems" were. At that point we should have known they are a money hungry company. We needed things fixed. For a price. They overcharged for the work being done and are known to rip people off. It's all over the news. (Mind you we found out after they had already started working and taking things out- but again we did need our furnace fixed. We had Geno and David service our stuff. Ron claimed we had gas "leaking" but allowed us to stay overnight with a "leak" gas. We called PeopleGas that same day after we had signed papers and they said we didn't have any gas leak or else we should have been evacuated. Also warning us about Gillece. Mentioning gas readers can be faked and set (which they showed me how it was done) so it can make a ticking noise , which Ron had done. We were stuck with the work being done. They knew we had water damaged and home owners but refused to cooperate and send our insurance an invoice of the work being done because they know they overcharged and overpriced. Could not break down the work being done including the price. They (Lauren- who is in charge of the paperwork) avoided all phone calls from both my insurance company and myself. What I learned... 1. First I will say that the 2 stars I am giving are for the install crew. They were fabulous. Kind. Prompt. Worked hard. Went above and beyond. If it weren't for them, there wouldn't be any stars. Gillece is not an HVAC repair company as they advertise. They are straight up sales people who pray on those in a tough moment. Obviously if you are calling for help with a problem, you're likely in a stressful situation. Especially when it involves AC or your furnace. They use this to your advantage, come at you with a lot of options, push things on you that you don't need and make it sound really great and next thing you know you are spending tons of money for items that weren't broken to begin with. Like I said, GREAT sales people. NOT SERVICE ORIENTED. They don't want to help you, they just want as much money out of you as possible. The person they send to your house isn't even a technician! He or she will be a straight up salesperson. Just wait and see because when you do agree to work being done, sales person does a few things and then disappears while a crew does the work. My salesperson completely LIED to me about what I was buying. And after it was installed and I realized the model did not match what I was verbally told I would be getting, I called them. They sent another salesperson to my house who then said "I wish there was a recording so I knew exactly what he said." Indicating I was lying about how the product was presented to me. It has taken me a year to give this review, as I do not like to provide negative reviews. I feel very strongly that this company is nothing but a scam. I called Gillece about a backup in my sewer line in my older home. After many hours of analysis, it was determined that there was a collaped pipe that would need to be repaired, at a very substantial price. The technician came to repair the broken pipe that was causing a backup in my house. He was leaving as I returned home for work and I asked him to stay while I checked the area. This picture was taken AFTER he had made a repair and I did a test flush upstairs. I had asked for pictures of the broken pipe - he couldn't produce those. I asked to see the broken pipe itself then went to change my clothes while he talked to another technician - he left without another word, without showing me the broken pipe, while I was still inside the house. On top of the repair NOT fixing the back-up, the concrete work was the sloppiest I have ever seen - even getting splattered concrete on my walls. TWO calls to the company after he left produced NO answers. The dispatcher finally called me the next day to schedule another technician to come back. I asked to speak with someone that could tell me what happened yesterday, and that I was not planning on using them if the answer was not satisfactory. I received that call two days later, but was just told there must be a SECOND broken pipe and they could come back and look again. Their estimate for the repair was $10,000 - 18,000, depending on how much line would need to be repaired. Needless to say, I found a more reputable plumber, who found a solution to my issue (a belly in the pipe) at a cost of just $1,800. A year later, I have had no issues with the line. Not a good start. Have an issue with our drain not draining, its getting backed up and we cannot use that much water cause it is overflowing. My Husband decided to call them to see what time today, just for them to tell us they are not coming today they will be there tomorrow. Not Happy!!
