That such a service and amazing dinner could be received at such prices from a modest country restaurant was impressive. We were served baby calamari and salad, delicious local wine, homemade bread and briefly chatted to the owner who made us feel like we were houseguests. Most recommended if you are in the area!

The area surrounding this guest house has so much character and there are tons of picnic tables surrounding the area within a beautiful garden. This was a perfect little stopover for our long road trip we were taking from Italy back to the Netherlands. The people who were greeting us were also very kind and friendly and welcoming. Just a point to note, their main office closes at 11 PM so if you arrive after 11, you won't be able to check into your room. Other than that we had a very relaxing night here

They don't…read moreadvertise on any of the major sites for hotels but this is not exactly a hotel but more like 2 small apartment buildings with rooms = apartments to rent for various short stays. The hosts are a wonderful family that own the farm, vineyards, the guest house, the country store and the cafe that goes along with them. The houses are much better maintained then I was seeing here in the States and clean like one wouldn't believe. We needed a crib for our 10 months old daughter and even though it's a bit unusual request Frau Martina and her husband have accommodated this request. Overall I can't say any more praises to the place though some of the requirements are a bit more unusual for those coming from the States.

Anyway..I have to get to best thing about this hotel...an indoor swimming pool !!! are you kdding????..and a really nice one !!!! ..so when I was told of this, I had to ask twice about he pool and had the lovely/accommodating/charming reception girl show me. This the main reason I am writing this review for a hotel. Upon viewing the indoor pool I decided on the spot to extend my stay in Montbeliard, VERY close to the AMAZING PEUGEOT MUSEUM..and host to the worlds CHRISTMAS MARKET. I must go experience this...supposedly there is nothing like it. NOT common in France, spacious rooms..but this hotel had large rooms with bathrooms you would have at the Four Seasons. The staffs treats everybody as though there were royalty....even an orange is deliverd on a beautiful plate on a doily. Any need/request is immediately addressed. As soon as you walk into this hotel, the color pallete and interior design makes it so inviting. Again, the French couldn't do enough for their guests. I am going to have to myth bust the bad rap that the French often get. After spending an extended length of time in this country...I have NOT one complaint. They are a sterling example of great hospitality and pleasing all visitors and doing everything to make them happy. See ya at Christmas time !!!

Front desk attentive, friendly (brought me a glass of wine while I was waiting in the lobby, sold me postage, had maps and advice galore). Colmar is a beautiful little city with a beautiful little train station. We spent about an hour…read morethere before a train ride to Strasbourg, and while I would not recommend arriving that early with small children (we were walking from our hotel and didn't want to get caught in the rain), it was an attractive place to pass some time. The exterior was storybook lovely, with a long red brick facade and a prominent clocktower with a green shingled roof. There were a lot of trees fronting the entrance that were decorated for Christmas. My three-year-old and I took a walk around the promenade out front, and it was pretty scenic. There's nothing to do inside the station but wait, so plan to get in and get out if possible. The walk to or from old town is only about fifteen minutes. It makes sense to take the train to Colmar, and worth admiring the train station while you're there.

This is definitely not…read morea large station compared to Basel (massive) or Strasbourg (large) but it's bigger than some of the stations we stopped at on the way here. Easy to navigate with good signage, lifts, escalator. There is a bus stop outside and a taxi stand. We walked the three blocks to our AirBNB. Colmar has one of the larger Marchés de Noël (aka Christmas markets) complete with a massive Ferris wheel. They want you to feel welcome and at home, and everything about the bed & breakfast works together to create a comforting, one-of-a-kind experience. The rooms and the views from Ratsstuble are second to none. Not only did our room give us the feeling that we were at a spa, but the view looking into the valley from our patio was so great. We spent a lot of time sitting on the balcony just looking out and enjoying how quiet everything was. The breakfast was very good - wonderful selection of fresh pastries, fruit, meats, and cheeses. Not to mention fresh coffee and eggs anyway you would like them prepared. We also really enjoyed the fully stocked fridge and mini-bar. It was nice to be able to walk right down the hall and grab a beer to enjoy in your room our out on the patio. The location is great - secluded but not too far from everything. There are 4 or 5 restaurants and a couple of bakeries right at the bottom of the hill, and you have access to a swimming pool as well that is a 5 minute walk away. Can't wait to return and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing retreat.
