Before heading out of Ghent, we made a pit stop for ice cream at Cremerie Gérard.
We dropped in on a Saturday afternoon (around 12:45pm) and there was a small queue. Most people were grabbing takeout. The one worker manning the till was oddly flustered and annoyed when our Dutch friends tried to pay with card. He complained about being charged using a foreign card (when it wasn't) so we told him to just charge the extra €0,50 to use it.
There were a dozen flavours available (including three sorbet options).
- Single scoop (€2,00) - our friend went with the strawberry.
- Double scoop (€4,00) - we picked the pistachio (€0,20 extra) and lemon meringue yoghurt. The ice cream had a good texture and consistency. Lemon meringue was tangy.
Worth a stop if you're looking for ice cream. 3.5 stars. read more
