When I realized where I was staying, I felt like a complete idiot - this is on the main tourist (mostly pedestrian) road with all the restaurants on it by the Boulevard St. Michel. But it worked out really well. There's an elevator (tiny, but it did the trick). There's air conditioning - so you can shut your window and not listen to all that night life (windows are surprisingly soundproof). You are just a block from the (not very well marked) elevator direct to the RER B (which will take you to and from the Charles de Gaulle airport - buy your ticket the day before in case the ticket machine conveniently located in the RER is broken, as it was when I was there) and steps from the famous Theatre de la Huchette and bookstore Gibert Jeune, should you wish to buy a cheap map or tourist guide. Yes, the room is tiny and the wifi painfully slow. But you're in the middle of Paris, literally two minutes from the Boul'Mich, Shakespeare and Company, and the view of Notre Dame. The hotel never closes, so if you're out til all hours, it doesn't matter. The staff is friendly. And you'll have plenty of nearby choices for where to eat. read more
