Unfortunately, this review will be extremely disappointing. I feel obligated to share my opinion…read moreon behalf of this law firm, more precisely Matthew Skilling. Please also understand, due to the delicate matter at hand, I never would imagine an officer if the court would demonstrate unethical practice when a minor child within a custody case is at hand. Again, this is a child custody case being handled by his office, and I am unfortunately pro se as the defendant, more importantly this mother of this young child. I am the proud mother of 2 sons, my oldest representing our country in the United States Navy. Growing up, my parents were hard workers as they always gave my siblings and I the value of ethics and accountability, which truly outweigh any type of materialistic goods. My parents taught us the justice system, its value and fairness, more importantly to adhere to all laws we that may effect us through life. With this being said, as I continue to observe and witness Mr. Skilling blatantly disregard the most important fact of this case, being the best interest, and top priority being mental well being and wellness on behalf of my son involved. I am certain Mr. Skilling's ultimate goal is satisfaction for his client, who is the father/plaintiff of this current custody case. In Mr. Skilling's defense, I am sure his "choice" is to only go by what his client expresses. However, it is also his responsibility to ensure key factual information, instead of creating a case with the best interest being my son. I was fortunately granted a recent opportunity as the Honorable Judge was kind enough to issue a hearing on behalf of my motion for an emergency evaluation. Before the case was heard, of course we had the opportunity to hopefully mediate and resolve any possible solutions available. My sole reason I explained to Mr. Skilling was to simply place a best interest attorney to fairly represent my minor son, and I thought we agreed. To my dismay and disappointment, as the judge listened to our argument, Mr. Skilling went against our intention, and chose to argue and create a technically involving a date of service he "claimed" was sent via first class mail. Mysteriously, I did not receive any type of service until 2 days after my intent to answer and prove my case within the 30 day timeframe allowed by the court. Once again, my reasoning for specifically detailing this case is the unfortunate manner as Mr. Skilling ignored my request for a best interest attorney, and chose a flaw, which ultimately dismissed this case immediately. How can prove to my young son the same values my parents taught my siblings in I? My son now sits helplessly and has sadly expressed to me that he will never trust our justice system. He is seeing first hand himself that his voice, his well-being, his basis of seeing an equal justice system is based on the unethical practices being argued, instead of what is fair and equal. Our world is already fueled with negativity and uncertainty. My young son has already been shown and taught that our justice system is not fair. As I have taken this time to express my disappointment, please do not become another victim of Mr. Skilling ignoring morals and values just to make this a "win" for his client. This case is a loss for all, as the importance of the well-being of my young is ignored by the unethical practices of Mr. Skilling choses to practice.
