I purchased the Peace of Mind protection plan in 2018 when I sold a home to make sure I didn't miss any taxes or exemptions. File then a few years later get an income tax notice from the State of California showing I owed tax. I take my paperwork to the local office (a different one than the Gahanna location) and they refile it. Then last fall I get another notice from the state of ohio saying my W-2 used the wrong information to enter income tax. I take paperwork to the Gahanna location and they file a claim. The claim comes back denied with the reasons listed as "not covered". Not sure why I bought the peace of mind, the mistake was H&R Block entering the information. Will never use them again. read more

Just finished up filing the tax returns with HR Block and it was very quicky and smooth. I was missing a form and they were able to access the form from the irs very quickly. There was no issue of the fees either, just like they advertised to me. The binder was very helpful as well so that I can keep my tax forms for safekeeping in the future. My refund will be deposited into my bank account very soon and they did not charge me any extra fees at all. Very nice helper as well and I will return next year most definitely. Nice parking spots as well. read more

We've been using H&R Block for many years. Yes, it's pricey, but it's convenient. For our 2013 taxes, we had Sandra Woods do them, as we've had her do them previously. For a federal 1040A, state, and city tax return, we were charged $166. However, and this is HUGE, Sandra informed us that there was a $20 fee for live checks to be mailed to our home, and that it had bee in affect for many years. AND SO, FOR WHO KNOWS HOW MANY YEARS, WE'D BEEN PAYING $20 TO HAVE A CHECK MAILED TO US!! Never once was that communicated to us. NEVER. I can remember asking for details about their arbitration agreements, as I like to understand what I'm signing, but I am absolutely positive that the $20 fee was never disclosed. If it had been, we certainly wouldn't have been stupid enough to tell them "Sure, go ahead and mail the live check. It seems perfectly reasonable to pay $20 for it!" Just unbelievable. read more

My husband and I are very pleased with Charles Arnold. We've been going to him since approximately 2008. He is very accurate. We have never had an error with him. He is very knowledgeable and professional and explains everything to assure that we understand what is going on with our taxes. He takes his time. You never are rushed. You can ask any amount of questions and he is never inconvenienced. We have never gone to anyone else because he is simply the best. My husband and I always get the Peace of mind. We don't mind paying the extra money. It gives you assurance that if you ever get audited, H&R Block will take care of everything. You won't have to worry about it. Thank Goodness we never have had to go through that. They also offer an Emerald card which you can get a partial advance of your tax return should you need one. The lobby always has coffee available and is kept clean. Bottled Water is always offered to you. I'm not sure if the front desk is filled on a part time or volunteer basis because we have never seen the same person twice and there isn't a name plate to let you know who they are. The front desk personnel tend lack customer service and be a bit un friendly. Don't let that stop you. Appointments are a must. read more

For the second year in a row I received a notice from department of taxation that the H & R block rep screwed up my taxes and this time that I owed an additional $1600! I called H&R Block 800 number and was treated like dirt on their shoe and that I would have to go into Gahanna office at a specific date and time. I work and cannot continue to be inconvenienced by someone's screw up! I fixed it myself with dept of taxation and called Gahanna office and asked what they were going to do about it. I paid over $400 for them to screw up my taxes AGAIN! I will never go back! After several conversations with them (at their convenience of course) I am convinced what a scam the entire outfit is. read more

Highly recommend NOT using this office. Set up an appointment, a week in advance. Show up 10 mins early for my appointment and present the completely unprofessional receptionist with my online confirmation for my appointment. He doesn't acknowledge it, tells me if he has a cancellation he might be able to get me in. I asked him what my online reservation meant and he said nothing. Didn't even try to work with me or give me options to fix it. read more
