Jim offered to mail my tax's in as a service he offered. I signed and cut a check for taxs owes and thought, boy that was easy. In May I followed up as I had not receive my stage refund, or homeowners credit, Jim assured me my tax's were mailed just unprocessed, in September I checked my filing status still I filed so I followed up a second time. He asked if the IRS had processed my check they had not, he said don't worry it's filed contact me if you get a letter from the IRS. In December still marked as not filed, a friend noted that meant I couldn't even file electronically for 2022....my anxiety spiked, i made a copy of my tax's previously "mailed" and refilled them, and a new check including now a 400$ late and penalty fee. In February, I received a notice from the IRS they processed the copy I mailed in, had cashed my check but an error in my tax's meant that I had under paid by another 400$. In total at this point I'm 800 in penalties/fines. I called Jim, emailed copies of the IRS letters and crickets it's been 3 weeks and 4 follow ups :(

As I write this, I never did receive an explanation for the way we were suddenly being treated after 20 years. But Dan (who had his insurance with my wife's ins agy) did find time to try to pull his insurance to another agent in the midst of it all, having still never found the time to ever reach out to me directly. TERRIBLE and unprofessional way to end a 20-year relationship.
