Dec. 13, 2021 My financial advisor recommended GiFt CPAS to…read moreme in about 2016. I needed someone to prepare my personal taxes and give me tax advice. I have investments, and an out of state property from which I recieve dividends, and I no longer felt comfortable doing my own returns. The accountant to whom I was assigned was Shawn B. Shawn seemed to struggle with what forms had to be filed from an estate the first two years, and there have been errors on my returns at least three of the four years he did my taxes. One of these errors resulted in my PA tax return being witheld, and it took over 6 months for him to resolve this by working with PA officials. I never felt like a valued client, and emails and calls were replied to intermittently, if at all. Now, this year, I have questions about my recent marriage and the sale of my home, and I did not receive a return email from Shawn, despite requesting that he contact me "ASAP". After a week, I contacted the office through their general email mailbox requesting a different accountant based upon the aforementioned issues. It has been over a week since I sent THAT email, and there has been no reply to that either. *EDIT* - The day after posting this review I received an email from the company apologizing for the tardy response with an excuse about being out of town at the end of last week. (The email had been sent seven days earlier.) This does not change my feelings, however. When I asked, last year, how much it would cost to add my then fiance to my tax return, Shawn quoted me the same amount as for my complicated return (over $400 for a 1040!) Perhaps, if you are the owner of a business who will require thousands of dollars of tax work annually, they will be more responsive. If, however, you are an individual seeking tax preparation and tax advise, I do not recommend Gift CPAs. I rated them 3 stars because they have always acted professionally IN PERSON, and their online portal for document exchange is nice. (1 additional star for each) after waffling over whether to rate them lower. In the end, I chose to err on the side that benefits them. These two positives do not overcome a complete lack of timely communication when needed, and for this reason, I will be changing to a different CPA or accounting firm. Should you choose to do business with them, I STRONGLY suggest that you make your communication needs a part of any contract you sign. Thank you for reading this very long review!

Avoid this place…read more They are expensive, they don't get it right, and their customer service is non-existent. My elderly parents used Gift and Associates to prepare their taxes for the past several years. Each time there were mistakes. Gift and Associates charged $365 to prepare taxes--expensive don't you think? Gift and Associates takes an iron-fisted approach to customer service, demanding that the client fill out a form correctly and send it in by a certain date, only to later bill the client when they (Gift and Associates) fail to complete the taxes by the filing date. Here are several specific examples of reasons to avoid this company. In 2011, Gift and Associates messed up the Pennsylvania 1000 tax rebate form and the client had to take it back to them and have it corrected. In 2010, they charged an additional $250 to prepare form 709--a gift declaration. This is a simple form which did not require special handling and should not have involved extra expense. When I called to complain I encountered their take-it-or-leave-it attitude toward their customers.
