Go elsewhere!!! I have had zero issues with H&R Block in the past, unfortunately Michele Lombardi in the Smithfield office changed that! Refund is delayed by 2+ months because of her incompetence. Called for her assistance after receiving letter from IRS and she couldn't have been more rude. She actually screamed at me on the phone, even though she was paid for a service that left us with a big headache and a delayed refund. Unprofessional doesn't even begin to describe her, and based on the Google/ Yelp reviews I've now seen, this is nothing new. There's plenty of other offices to pick from, avoid this one! read more

I stopped by the Smithfield H&R Block with last year's tax return. I showed my return to Michelle Lombardi and asked what it would cost to file. As a retiree my return was exactly the same. They advertise that you will know in advance what it will cost. She gave me a price. I made an appointment for a few days later and went back. After Michelle Lombardi had electronically filed my tax return, she ended up charging me well over a hundred dollars more than the price she quoted me. I'm sure I was not the first person she cheated. Beware of H&R Block, and this con artist. read more

Michele Lombardi was extremely rude and unprofessional at my appointment this morning. After checking in, she greeted me with a, "Can I help you?" that sounded like she was annoyed with me. During our quick meeting she huffed at me for having questions, did not give me an answer or listen past my first question, and dismissed me with frustration. She said that there isn't anyone that can give me tax advice. I asked if I should take my questions instead to a cpa, a finance advisor, or a tax lawyer and she said that there is no professional that would help me with my taxes. I walked out only 5 minutes into our appointment feeling insulted. I went to the meeting for questions and for help filing a state tax form but I didn't even bother asking about the filing because she acted disgusted with me upon arrival. For the record, I arrived in professional attire with a few papers with me. I opened my business 9 years ago and have done my taxes on my own up until now when I needed clarification. When I got home I called turbotax's helpline. For free they answered all of my questions with ease and in 10 minutes. Most of my questions were about how to categorize atypical expenses for my small business (items damaged in mail, travel that included business and vacation, etc.) read more

Quick, knowledgeable & friendly service every year easy accessibility and clean location

This place is great - those I interacted with were very kind! They also accept walk-ins which is very convenient and during busy tax season, they're open until 9pm Monday - Friday. The person helping me was incredibly helpful - while completing my taxes, he also taught me what kinds of things to keep track of so next year, I can improve my chances of getting a better tax return! I walked out with peace of mind and a lot of exciting new charts to make 2014's return more organized. I was at the end of having my return prepared. She was asking me for my money. I realized she hadnt given me the child tax credit I had coming. I asked for it. She got defensive. "You never told me you had a child" She ended up giving it to me but not before she raised the price of my return 2x. First she said its an extra form and therefore and extra $45. When i agreed to that she raised the price again, this time an extra $135. I felt like i was buying a used car. read more
