I showed the state what I was given by Jonah and the state refunded me back all fees. By the time Jonah decided to get back with me via email, it was several weeks and I sorted out the mess with the state myself. You hire a professional accountant for protection. If it wasn't rectified, were going to owe an extra $10K in taxes. We started the process with him eight months before the pandemic below and the IRS was moving slow enough as they typically do. After the pandemic began, what started as a slow, arduous process suddenly turned into a full IRS lockdown on responsiveness. After several denial letters from the IRS, we just recently got our request approved. Furthermore, he also was successful in abating a $1200 penalty that we were going to have to pay because we filed our S-Corp request late. All in all, Ben never gave up on persisting to get our request approved even though it took many more hours than it normally would have. Thank you Ben!

We used Liberty for several years, and were always satisfied. Unfortunately, that changed last…read moreyear. The person who prepped our return missed clicking a single checkbox, which led to an important form not being filed. This created problems not only with our return, but with the stimulus payments later in the year. The owner was able to quickly assess what went wrong, which was great. Everything that followed was less great. Due to the pandemic, we were unable to get anyone on the phone at the IRS to help answer a simple question to help us determine how to handle the issue. The owner was resistant to contacting the IRS for us to get the question answered (for a month) until I brought up the fact that dealing with mistakes on the returns is an advertised service and we were only having issues because his employee screwed up. After that email I had an answer in an hour and a half. I was disappointed, because the owner is generally a nice guy, and I shouldn't have had to throw the service guarantee in his face to get the help I needed. We've switched to using a tax service that has dedicated staff rather than new people every tax season, so we have well educated and experienced people to work with rather than someone who got a crash course in taxes two months ago. These businesses serve a purpose, there's simply a lot of room for error if you don't have a simple return, and having experienced staff is better for that.
