Run away fast from any of the 6 H&R Block offices this CPA owns. Watkinsville, Greensboro, Madison, Eatonton, Tomson, or Sandersville. I had been a customer of H&R Block in a different state for 12 years and the CPA there was the best I ever had at that point. First year back home to Oconee and we decided to use Ruth based on the reviews and years of experience. I never met anyone from the office that entire year (chalked up to Covid). They only completed my taxes on time because I called every day asking for them. I had never had to leave my taxes without a completed return before that. Next year we gave them the benefit of the doubt because of covid conditions the previous year. Big mistake #2. Again, no personal meetings, no communication;, would not answer phone, emails, texts. They applied for an extension on my taxes without asking or notifying me. I learned they had done so when I got a notice from the IRS granting the extension. In 44 years of filing taxes, this was the only time my returns were ever late. And there was no reason given for why they were not done on time except that there were a lot of people ahead of me (nobody said that when my data was dropped off). I found another CPA for last year but when the IRS questioned my 2020 return and I asked for the help that I had previously paid for, over many years, with H&R Block Protection: again, I got no communication until almost the IRS deadline. Then they said they would answer the IRS but would not confirm that they had done so until weeks later. When I got the next letter from IRS they quit all forms of communication with me. I tried my best to be calm and professional in all my request, but I never had any professionalism returned relative to responsiveness or timing.
