This is an HEB review/recipe share. I plan sharing a weekly review of HEB labled products and how I used them in a recipe. HEB is a Texas icon. Not only is it a great grocery store but it has taken charge in helping Texans when we are suffering through our worst natural disasters. HEB was first on dealing with COVID before our government would even acknowledge the pandemic. HEB mitigated as much of the disaster the big freeze, Hurricane Harvey and here lately the massive flooding that took so many lives in the Hill Country over the 4th of July weekend brought on every one in Texas. Being the great icon that they are it's hard to find fault with them. But sometimes HEB catches a lot of flack because they produce a lot of products that are already produced by other companies. In some cases the products they produce are better and in some cases not so much. I was recently on their app doing my curbside shopping and I wanted to have Blue Bell ice cream. On the app there was not a lot of selection as far as different Blue Bell ice cream flavors. I was specific in my search that I only wanted Blue Bell but when the choices came up it was a lot of HEB Creamy Creations which is a wonderful product, but I wanted Blue Bell. The Blue Bell that I found available was your basic flavors; vanilla, chocolate, rocky road, butter pecan, and I believe there was a cookie dough one as well. But the creamy creations offerings where immense. So they do tilt the playing field a little bit. It could have been all the Blue Bell ice cream that was available at that particular store were just those basics. Seriously, I should have shopped the app while I was at the store. I think I may do that next time. Just to compare what they have on the app as compared to what is actually available. But so many of the products that HEB does make is quality and they kind of, to the point, make you forget about the original label that you fell in love with in the first place. So, that's why I decided to start this little blog/review. Today I am starting with a lunch recipe that I make for myself, I usually use the pole and line caught tuna under the HEB label. But today I am using the HEB canned chicken breast. What you do is you take a can of chicken breast and you drain it well, mix it with two tablespoons of HEB jalapeno cream cheese and one big tablespoon of Daisy cottage cheese and then mix it together until blended thoroughly. Add couple of handfuls of salad greens, then put it in the refrigerator overnight. You can have it with toast, which is the way I like to have it. I like H-E-B's cranberry and pistachio bread. This gives you protein from the chicken and the cottage cheese. Then you have some good fat through the cream cheese and the jalapeno helps raise the metabolism. Then of course he have two handfuls of salad greens which is always good for you. It is a cool refreshing low calorie meal that's high in protein and very filling. Try it with the toast or without the toast however you want to enjoy it! read more

H-E-B has become more concerned with completing pick up orders rather than creating a safe and efficient environment for people who are shopping for themselves. I practically got run over by multiple employee with their large baskets. People that shop online can stick to their list which means less impulse buying. Because now I'm fighting to get down aisles with rude employees who are concerned with filling their enormous pick up/delivery order that I now abandon the aisles before I make my impulse purchase selection . Sounds like a backwards business model. read more

The people in here are very judgemental. I've been coming here for the last year and have had a problem until the last 2 months. If you work with animals or do anything outside that leaves marks, they'll assume you're homeless. If you go up to customer service because your vision is low and ask for help the lady there will be condescending and turn you down. If this wasn't the closest place to get my prescriptions, I wouldn't come here at all. read more

This review is for the HEB Laser Car Wash only. When I was visiting this area last July, I gased up my car and had an option to get a discounted car wash. Now, I am not a fan of 99% of those gas station washes since they are the one's equipped with plastic rollers that scratch the heck out of someone's car paint. No thanks. Happily, this particular facility has a laser automated system that was a reasonable rate with the gas discount option. There was no line to get in. Signs outside easily explain the process. Keep windows rolled up. Hands and body parts inside as well. You know we live in a society where that has to be publicly stated, because that one apple in the barrel wasn't told, bless their hearts. High tech water & soap tracks move over the car, pressurized to remove all those naughty stuck on bugs and road goop. A proper wind blow out moves 95% of the any remaining water off the car, a polish rinse for a few extra dollars is a great investment. It tends to bead the water off in the drying process much faster, while keeping the paint shiny and happy, and giving your vehicle a small protective coat against corrective elements, like bird poop and acid rain. My only sadness, where are these car washes in my Dallas hometown?? I have heard that HEB is trying to crack into our local DFW Mertoplex grocery industry. Perhaps in the coming months, we will be blessed with these cost effective car washes. Love these HEB great, quick, solid washes. read more

It's your typical grocery store. This one in particular is a little beat down. It's about a two minute drive from my house and right next to the gym I usually go to. It has all the stuff you need and of course they have low prices. It's a very small grocery store, the restrooms are questionable. The employees are nice and pleasant. read more

Definitely one of the HEBs of all time. Easy access to the gas and the inside was well organized with lots of vegan inventory plus the usual stuff. Staff was friendly as well. read more

Pretty good grocery store. Not great for gourmet. And your in Texas so they may very well not have ever heard of any of the ingredients your looking for if you cook gourmet. They have a good selection of fish. I am told that their fish counter consistently loses money though - so who knows how long it will stay at its present level. The produce is pretty good - but if your looking for super fresh go to a mexican or chinese grocer. Same thing if your looking for Galangal, coconut milk, etc... When I asked about what varieties of Coconut milk they had I was informed that they did not know if they carried it nor what its for. The staff also was not familiar with the use of Lemon grass for anything culinary. But, all in all - as long as you have no questions and your looking for very standard stuff - this is a pretty good place to shop. read more

This location is clean and well stocked as long as you're looking for everyday items. This location does not have a large variety of organic items, specially organic produce. I'm okay shopping here as long as I'm looking for everyday ingredients. But if I'm looking for specialty items I'm out of luck. Produce is fresh but limited, and the bakery has delicious breads and pastries. The employees are friendly, but sometimes the lines to check out are so very long. read more

The bakery is good, specifically the pan dulce and bite-size cinnamon rolls. Pretty basic, generic food selection, bunch of packaged junk like any other grocery store. Biggest complaint are the highschool aged girls they hire as cashiers because most of the time you'll get one that's too "busy" flirting with the guy bagging the groceries, yelling in your face because they're yelling at their co-worker 2 registers over about whatever, and they basically just mumble have a nice day, or nothing, as they're already turning away. In other words, they're not trained to give friendly customer service, it's a regular thing here, and it's annoying. Also, last time my dad went here there was a fight in the parking lot, so-called "parents" with gang tats throwing punches while their poor kids were screaming and trying to pull them apart...not HEB's fault, but still their security did nothing, cops were called by another bystander, didn't show. read more

The employees at this HEB are so helpful! I had a coupon for an item that I forgot to grab and I had two different employees ask me if they could get it for me. I said it was fine but they insisted. I purchased a rotisserie chicken and got Mac n cheese, vegetables and a 6 pack of water for free! The store is small and easy to navigate with a selection of organic vegetables and fruits. If you have any trouble finding something, just an one of the friendly employees! read more

Probably the worst HEB in the whole chain. Constantly discontinuing healthy products. Virtually no deli department to speak of.

Not only does this HEB have a poor management team, but the cashier's do not engage ANY conversation and come off as unfriendly. Especially if you are trying to purchase tobacco products or alcohol or medicine that requires you to be 18+. I am 24, I buy a pack of Dutch masters at minimum every week. And now HEB has gone off on a whole power trip telling me to remove my sunglasses or leave the store because they will not sell to me. Isn't there a reason your height, hair color, etc. are all listed on your ID card? Their response was that they needed to know it was me and not someone else, like the person behind me. The person behind me was a different height, color, weight. I was baffled at how arrogant and unethical their response was. They told me to "go write a review about it and have a nice day". So here I am. This HEB is the most unpleasant HEB I've experienced and I'm upset because it is very close to my house. I will be back to see who the unit director is and to give him a call about Evelyn's horrible leadership and customer service even after 13 years with the company. She is making HEB look very bad, as well as the petty cashier who looks to be a man but name is Lisa. read more
