I did receive one text apologizing and that she had been in court for a few days but would be free in the afternoon and would call right away. No call was received. A followup call and message left 2 and 3 days later went unanswered. Cleary she is unfamiliar with the word professional and client service. Happy that I experienced her pathetic communication skills prior to handing over her fee. If you are that busy Maria hire some help don't just leave potential clients hanging in the air. I don't know how you are still in business with that kind of service.

In my case (ODSP), the rate was capped at $130/hour. ​The Issues: ​Predatory Billing: Before performing any work, she required a $1,000 payment via e-transfer. She never provided a written retainer or a signed contract outlining the scope of work, which is a standard professional requirement. ​No Results: I was seeking help with a license reinstatement. After paying her, I received no legal documents or proof of work. In the end, I resolved the issue myself with one phone call to the insurance provider, as confirmed by an email from Allstate Insurance on Jan 9, 2026. ​Refusal to Refund: Despite doing zero work, she refused a refund and produced an "interim invoice" after the fact, labeling the $1,000 as a "consultation." Based on JusticeNet rates, an $885+HST consultation would require nearly 8 hours of time, which never happened. ​Professional Record: Prospective clients should be aware that this lawyer has a public record with the Law Society of Ontario (Case 2023 ONLSTH 117) regarding professional conduct. ​I have filed a formal fraud dispute with my bank and am in the process of a Law Society complaint.
