When I was younger I stayed in a lot of cheap chain hotels that had many problems. But at least they had room for a desk with seat, a chair to relax in, space to move from one spot to another, and warm showers.
This hotel gave me the single worst hotel room I have ever stayed in. The bed takes up about ¾ of the room, leaving a 2-3-foot perimeter around the 3 sides that do not abut a wall--and no, I am not exaggerating--2 feet on each side, and 3 feet where the door swings in. There is no room for a chair to sit in, and so there is no chair in the room. In one corner they crammed in a small, low-slung "desk" that my legs didn't fit beneath, and the "chair" is a footrest about 18 inches high that blocked any passage around the edge of the bed, not that there was anyplace to go if you got through. I put my suitcase between the bed and outer wall, and it barely fit. And then there is the shower, which has two settings: cold, and ice cold. Every day when I complained, the desk clerk told me that cold is warm, up is down, black is white, and it never changed. I stopped complaining after a few days and simply accepted the fact that George Orwell's Catalan days are still alive and well in the H 10 I stayed in.
I had the bad timing to visit Barcelona during the titanic, oppressive heat wave of 2026. After a walk through the surrounding neighborhoods in the sweltering heat, it would have been nice to go back to a hotel room that had a chair to sit in. I'm sure that if I'd complained to the desk clerk, he'd have explained to me that there was, indeed, a wonderful, comfortable chair in the room. He would have been referring to the toilet seat, which is, like the rest of the room, designed for a Hobbit and not a grown man.
The hotel does have a nice breakfast spread and terrace on the roof where you can buy a drink, but if you're looking for a hotel with a room that provides even basic comforts, stay elsewhere. I wish I had. read more
