Throughout many shops and even in this one, there are many ceramics look like Delft blue, but they are not. They are some cheap imitations. The highlight of this souvenir shop were real Delft blue ceramics here. We've been to Delft and purchased a small dish there, but we were fortunate enough to find it here so that we didn't have to make another special trip back to Delft. Now, there are some more affordable souvenirs like any other stores in the area. Otherwise they won't make too much money off of the tourists. However, they have some nice things including very nice wooden clogs if you are into them. It's just that it wasn't my thing.

You stumble in and realise you have arrived in what seems to be a candy store for grown-ups. From limited edition prints, stunningly appliqued cushions, rainbow-coloured trousers, cups and saucers with hand-painted characters, quirky books, custom furniture and birdhouse lamps, every corner of the shop is filled with something of interest. Everything is for sale and every item has its own story to tell. Shop-owners Tjeerd and Joost are always on hand to tell you where each item comes from and what on earth the store's name means. Groos: an old Rotterdam slang word meaning proud. And that makes perfect sense, because this newly opened concept store is filled with items designed exclusively by designers from Rotterdam. And there's no crap being offered here, I can tell you. All you can see here is rather special and lovingly made. GROOS takes 'retail is detail' to an awesome new level. And there's more! Even with Corona times, they can go in with a few more restrictions. Also huge landing gear and a powerplant (engine) in the terminal. Even though this is outside security, it's worth stopping in. They have affordable model airplanes, key chains, clothing, all sorts of stuff. I actually shop here when I'm not traveling to get my KLM gear. I love their magnets and key chains - and have even purchased the "Orange Spirit" KLM 777 model here since that is what I flew over here on. They are steps from the train terminal and to the outside bus/taxi connections. I've talked to the associates here at length and they are very fun!
