I recently bought a gift there for a gift exchange party that I went to and the gift (a build your own solar powered robot) was a big hit. This is the kind of store where you do not necessarily go in looking for something in particular, but just go to look around in to find something cool. It is hard to walk out with just one thing both because they have cool products and because it is also pretty cheap.

Easily accessible from Amsterdam by train or bus...there is everything here from Kiosks, restaurants, bars and even a Nespresso store! Of course there is an Albert Heijn as well. I actually come here from Amsterdam to do some shopping sometimes. Just a quick 12 minute train ride....lots of fun vibes to be in an airport PRE-security. Another big plus are free bathrooms. Access to 12 or more train platforms underground so you can go anywhere in The Netherlands from here. Usually the first thing you see when leaving the airport and arriving to Amsterdam.

We took a taxi to the Anne Frank house and walked the few blocks to a starting point. It was a chilly, rainy November day but we had umbrellas, rain gear and determination! The neighborhoods are utterly charming, canals throughout, bordered by colorful houses, skinny sidewalks with bikes and cars squeezed in somehow. It so reminded us of Venice! Everything is so photogenic it's easy to burn through your phone's storage here! Shops and restaurants abound throughout. Would've loved to have more time to check them out but my wife did find some beautiful scarves in one. Walking the 9 Streets has been described as one of the great walks of Europe. A must see when in Amsterdam!

And when I walked in and saw the piles of Turkish carpets sitting around, I knew. We had found the place. The owner is very friendly and helpful (and also an excellent salesperson, so don't say I didn't warn you!). In addition to the gorgeous carpets he has lovely lamps, dishes and jewelry, all Turkish style. As I said we walked all over Amsterdam and Haarlem and did not find another shop like this.
