Habesha brings true meaning to the saying, fingers before forks; hence soap and water being provided at the table to wash before eating. Using injera (Ethiopian flat bread) as either your plate or to pick up food. It's an odd experience when you've grown up using cutlery but it was fun and entertaining for our group of four. I wouldn't suggest bigger groups as it is a very small restaurant. Our waitress was very helpful and explained a bit about the Ethiopian customs and the popular favourites. The vegetable sambusa was a great start and surprisingly more tasty than the beef version. We also tried the siga wot (beef), ye beg alicha (lamb) and asa gulash (fish) which is where I was let down. Maybe my own fault for having preconceived ideas about what it would be like but I was unimpressed. It WAS tasty but not as amazing as I had hoped. The price was also high for the portion. It is cash only with BYO corkage of $4 per bottled wine and $2 per person for beer. Cons aside, we had a great night and enjoyed the overall experience. read more

A wonderful experience with divine food, spiced to perfection. Friendly, prompt service and reasonably priced. We'll be back.
Being a bit of a fussy eater and having never tried Ethiopian food I was pleasantly surprised. The menu was small and easy to choose from. Our table ordered a bit of everything and shared so I was able to try a range of different dishes. I was quite surprised at how spicy the food was after the waitress had said that most dishes were mild (I don't have the highest heat threshold but). I ended up trying the beef and vegetarian sumbusa starters, siga wot beef, alicha lamb, asa gulash seafood, difen miser wot (black lentils), key sir salata (Beetroot salad) & azfa salata (lentil salad). The best dishes that stood out to me were the two lentil dishes & the beef despite being quite spicy. The Beetroot salad wasn't too bad either (also weirdly spicy). Out of the starters my favourite was the beef but my friends liked the vegetarian one. So can't go wrong with either. Over all it was great, eating with your hands is an odd but fun experience in a restaurant, I wish they allowed us to wash our hands after eating as well as before. Make sure you order extra bread! But the price was reasonable and it's cash only. read more
