We had the banquet and it was superb. Great care was paid to even the slightest items, the papadams were light and not oily, the rice fluffy & moist, the naans delicious. Entree was tandoori chicken, lamb cutlets and steamed fish. The cutlets were probably the stand out but it was a close call. They were cooked in a fresh yoghurt sauce with spice and melted in the mouth. Main was a selection of 4 curries. Not a morsel was left. I cannot tell you what was best as they were all incredible. Dessert was a selection of Indian ice cream. This is the best Indian I have had and I have had Indian all around the world. So impressed that this quality is available in Newcastle Should mention the staff, they were friendly and very helpful. Would recommend this restaurant unreservedly.

The price of the dishes were actually 10% extra compared with the menu, which they explained that they had already justified by having a sign sticked on the window. But the thing is the sign was facing inwards to the restaurant and we were not notified before we ordered, which means there is no way we will know. Menu says plain rice per person is 3 dollars. However got charged by 16 dollars for 2 people, as I asked for refill and they were charging 4 dollars for plain rice per person instead. This ofcourse wasn't notified in the beginning as well. Will never ever go back. Sapphire is much cheaper and nicer than this. Stingy and tricky owner with poor morals.

We have had two take away meals since and this dish was not the same one. A few chunks of ordinary chicken swimming in a sea of commercial-tasting sauce. While it's all available for selection in the hot cabinets, it's clearly fresh & recently prepared. I've since been back twice, and each time I've really enjoyed my food... a lot. There's a wonderfully large desert cabinet, full of temptations. So far I've resisted, but it wasn't easy. There are a few minor improvements that could be made here, like coat hooks in the ladies bathroom (a surprisingly important feature), and they need to keep their sauces in the fridge to stop them from exploding. Overall I'd rate this Indian food more highly than any I've had in Brisbane. Friendly service too.

Anyway, the reason I was unhappy with service was I had ordered water and my entire time there, even after asking a second time for water, it never was brought to me. The butter chicken my friend had was actually Bette Ethan the masala and the naan bread was also quite good. As well as the rice.
