The dynamic duo, Louis Boston Vets and co-owners of a personal styling and clothing designing business, opened up habit not too long ago. the store is modern, funky, comfortable and artsy, and offers men's and women's clothing and accessories, as well as a small selection of home goods. Santorelli and Moore are aiming at bringing in somewhat obscure designers who currently have little to no exposure in the Boston area. Items sell for $40-$200. Very cool and up-to-date men's [and women's] line, which I hope they keep [most boutiques are dropping their men's lines]. Think fashionable, casual clothes that aren't trendy. A number of items have become my staples. Also, think inexpensive. The stock keeps changing, so stop by often and early. This place keeps the hard-to-find brands, too, so you won't see your twin walking around Boston. This place isn't just like all the "other" hip boutiques What sets Habit apart from anywhere else? The people who work there HELP you......and don't give 'tude............I didn't get any Pretty Women attitude...........well, not because they would think I am a call girl, but because I am not a size zero 6' model.......... That made me feel good....it made me want to spend money....and yeah nothing was under $50................but it was fine, they have lines like Klovis, Do and Bee, Paper Denim, Hudson, Iro, Sugar Lips and Ya....they even have candles and home good that would make awesome gift for your friend that is an "individual" or has everything.....definitely check this store out...... I just happened to wander in to Habit one day before Christmas and I was pleasantly surprised. While the store is small, it carries a nice variety of unique women's clothing and accessories at reasonable prices. They carry current trends with a twist and I have never seen anyone else in the clothing that I have purchased there over the past few months. I have also purchased quite a few birthday gifts at Habit, the earrings and scarves are fun for women of all ages. I really like that it is a neighborhood shop as well, it is nice to finally find a place with quality unique pieces without the crazy price tag. read more

I have to say, I had high expectations for Habit. I just wasn't... wowed. I don't know why I was surprised to find this, but it was much smaller than I was thinking. I did like the selection, and being the self-admitted type A freak that I am, I loved that it was laid out by color. I'll head back in here, but I think only if I'm looking for something special. Habit is a gem. The owners are incredible. They're helpful (without being overbearing), and honest, which is rare. I've been to the store numerous times, and it seems like those girls never have an "off" day. Just today we stopped by, and not only did the owner let us bring our dog in, she had treats for her! The selection is fantastic, especially considering the size of the place. I've never gone in without finding something. There's a wonderful mix of pieces, ranging from the shockingly inexpensive (denim petticoat for $45- what?!), to must have splurge items. The sale rack is always full of great steals. They also have a constant influx of new items. I can't say enough about the Shara Porter bags/wallets that they carry- vintage pieces that have been restored and have adorable prints. read more

I'm still living on a student budget, so boutiques really aren't my thing, but this store still lures me in for the occasional peruse. The set up is a little cramped, with what seems to be little organization, but that makes coming across something great in the middle of a rack a little more exciting. Prices are decent i guess for the brands you'd be buying. The salespeople are never pushy, but seem to be ready and able to help at a moment's notice. The big draw to this boutique is the sale rack in the back of the store. Thats where you'll find me with my fingers crossed hoping to score a cute item for 50% off. I feel like I should also make a comparison to KuDeTa since these two stores are the only ones of their kind in Southie, but located within a few blocks of each other on E. Broadway. I like the set up and selection of jewelry at KuDeTa better, but the clothing itself, as well as the pricing is much better at Habit. read more

I'm not sure how I've managed to not review Habit yet, as I've been shopping there since it opened but here goes... Pam and Leila are just the loveliest. Every visit to Habit is wonderful thanks to their keen eye for great styles and affordable price points. After the first few purchases their they both had a great idea of what I look for and always have a few suggestions every time I come in. It is now the first (and often last) place I go to shop for any occasion and where I go to lust after next season's style and weather! To top it all off, I can count on never running into the "she's wearing my dress!!" problem because they do such a great job selecting small batches of lots fo styles to keep folks happy. This is an awesome neighborhood shop. Its very small and has up to date fashion and trends. The staff is very friendly, but not over the top. Some boutiques are a bit too much and staff won't leave you alone until you buy something. They are just right here... The prices range from high to low. Nothing is cheap but not everything is extremely over priced. Styles change often, so you have to keep checking in.. Definatly worth stopping by! read more

What can I say? Frequenting Habit has become a bit of a habit for me. The selection of boutiques in South Boston is slim, and Habit is a welcome shop. I can always find something to wear in there for any occasion, although the price range does run the gamut. I have found dresses in there that I have absolutely loved for $45, and then pulled a t-shirt off the rack that was over $100...but I think that's what makes this store great. The owners aren't pretentious, and don't stock the store with your standard couture labels. Instead they find cool, new designers suitable for a trendy, but casual clientele. My favorite part about this store is that the owners are honest. I have seen women try things on that haven't exactly been flattering, and instead of lying in an effort to get them to buy something, the owners give their opinions, and better suggestions. All in all, Habit is a great place to shop. The store is small, but the racks are well-stocked, and it's definitely worth a visit. read more

This has become my go-to shopping store. The owners, Pam and Leila, are extremely sweet and helpful, and once you've shopped there once or twice, they will remember you and your tastes. I find their merchandise to be a nice mix of price points...some things are on the pricier side, but there are great finds in the $50-75 range as well. I recently had to go to a wedding...I bought the dress elsewhere, but brought it to the store to get suggestions for shoes, hose, etc. to complete the outfit. I still hadn't finished shopping by the day of the wedding, but was able to find both a kick-ass necklace that I got tons of complements on AND a vintage clutch that went perfectly with my dress at Habit. Pam and Leila also offer personal shopping services, so if you want some help cleaning out your closet and finding some new looks, they can help with that as well. They have a great eye and have helped me find some fun pieces I never would have picked out for myself. read more

I needed a dress for a wedding but wasn't quite sure of what I was looking for, I was going to leave until the girls asked what I was looking for and before I knew it dresses were pulled from the back and I was staring at the perfect dress!!! Wow! Talk about bend over backwards! This was my first stop on the search for the Perfect Thing to wear to the wedding this past weekend. Let's just say she pulled out all the cutest things in the shop (and a couple were still in boxes), and I did leave with my new favorite summer dress, but I just wasn't quite finding the Perfect Thing to wear to the wedding. So you know what? She pointed me in the direction of a couple of other places in Southie, and even mentioned some restaurants to try out! Can you beat that? I love it! I checked out Habit because I heard about their limited time designer consignment sale. Although the place is tiny, I did not feel exposed and awkward when I walked in (happens a lot in other boutiques). There were plenty of other customers in there, and the owner was friendly, laid-back, and helpful. She chatted about the neighborhood and other cool shops and events in the area. The merch was well edited and there were a few bargain boxes of cute $10 tees. I liked the concept of selling some second-hand designer pieces with new items, bringing a nice variety to the clothes. There was also a small selection of jewelry and purses. Getting there was easy...I drove and parked in the Rite Aid lot across the street. read more

Walking Broadway in Southie on a beautiful sunny day, we almost walked past this lovely shop but I stopped in to have a look. One lovely lady was there, was very helpful and friendly, I asked for advice on some earrings and she was on the money with her suggestion which I bought there and then! We don't visit the area often but I would definitely go back. Nice bright shop, lots of nice cheerful coloured clothing, prices are good, well worth a visit if you're in the area. We all rush to the big name stores but local smaller shops are every bit as good and often have the very thing you're looking for. I'll be back! read more

I stopped by this store today. A friend of mine really likes this place so I stopped by to see if I could find her a birthday gift. I happen to park next to a car with two girls seated in the car talking. I arrived around 4pm and the stores lights were off and there was a note on the door that stated "be back in 10". The store is open until 7:30pm Mon-Fri so says the sign. So I browsed through a few of the other stores nearby. Checked back in 15mins and they were still closed. Ugh. Frustrating. I wandered around for a little longer, but then decided to abort mission, as they were still closed when I checked back a second time. When I returned to my car the same two girls were still in the car next to me but one got out of the car and walked away. As I pulled around and out of the parking lot to leave I could see the store lights were on so I parked again and went inside. SAME GIRL that was in the car was now behind the counter. So let me get this straight...She closed the store to sit in a car and talk to her friend while customers wait around to shop??? Ridiculous. The store has some really cute items but they need employees who can keep the store open during ALL business hours. read more

I like Habit. I usually find a few cute things that I am interested in and wind up buying something, though I should say that I've only been a few times. The price point is reasonable. They carry mostly synthetic fabrics, which is good for me since I'm allergic to wool. The owners seem very nice, though I'm not sure they always give me or my friend, who adores the shop, the best opinion on how the clothes look on. read more

I love this place. Leila and Pam are great, super friendly and they really make an effort to know their customers. They have a unique and fun sense of style. The best part about shopping here? You won't see yourself walking down the street! They also offer a closet consultation service where they will go through all your clothes, try to come up with different outfit options and they will recommend what to ditch too.
