Filthy with rude staff and overpriced junk. It has been driven into the ground over the last 4 years. It used to be good.

Great assortment of items at very reasonable prices -- especially home repair and furniture.

The last two times I have visited over several months, he has either talked down to me or been immensely rude. A few months ago, I had a large item I needed to set aside while continuing to shop. I asked the woman at the register what to do with it, and she specifically told me to place it behind the register desk. I did exactly what she instructed. When I went to pay, this male employee demanded to know why my item was behind the counter. I told him the other employee had told me to put it there. He got visibly angry, pointed at the "Employees Only" sign, and lectured me loudly about how I should "never" go behind the counter, despite the fact that an employee told me to. I explained that to him, and he still shook his head, pointed at me, and basically yelled that under NO circumstances should I have gone back there. There was a line behind me, and he embarrassed me enough that I avoided the store for months afterward. Today I finally went back with a friend. We saw a large rolled-up rug and asked if we could unroll it to check the condition. You would think we asked him to donate a kidney. He got irritated immediately and insisted the rug was "fine" and did not need to be unrolled. I asked again and he said it wasn't necessary. I told him it was. Given the condition of many items in that store, often worn, dirty, stained, or smelly, it was not unreasonable to check for damage or odors on an oversized rug. He eventually said he would ask in the back, disappeared for a few minutes, and when I followed up, he just shrugged at me. That was his response. Really? Are we five years old?? Fortunately, the women in the back gave us permission to unroll it as long as we rolled it back up afterward, which we readily agreed to. Honestly, after two separate visits months apart, I have come to the conclusion that this man is just consistently rude. If he is that unhappy, maybe customer service is not the right job for him. And if he is that easily angered, he should not be taking it out on customers who are just trying to shop politely.

As a bonus, I didn't spot anyone shopping in pajamas this time! The only downside was the driving behavior in and around the parking lot. Several drivers were inconsiderate, both in the lot and on the way out, which made the experience a bit less pleasant. Other than that, it was an easy and efficient stop.

Scheduling was…read moreextremely inconsistent due to an AI-generated system that was left largely without proper managerial review, resulting in chaotic and unreliable shift patterns that made stability outside of work difficult. Employees were also given work phones while being paid unlivable wages, and the attendance point system felt heavily restrictive and unfairly enforced, creating constant pressure and instability. Communication from management was poor, with unclear expectations and little follow-through. Coaches were frequently rude or dismissive, and there was little to no recognition or appreciation for hard work, even when employees consistently went above and beyond. Concerns raised by staff were often ignored or minimized, including serious interpersonal issues between coworkers, which were not handled appropriately. Overall, the environment reflected poor working conditions, low accountability, and little support for employees. I do not support this company based on my experience working here and neither should you. Shop at Kroger.
