From the tree shaded courtyard to the intimate classrooms El Nopal creates a learning environment…read morethat is a pleasure to experience. My wife and I did just that for five weeks, three hours per day and five days a week this Spring. No we did not become fluent. However we did learn enough of the "right information" from our very capable linguistic instructors that we can confidenly comunicate on a retail level, read most tourist information in Spanish and my wife can comunicate quite well on social and business levels. (She did have several years of latin in her background.) Our instructors were fun and patient with our struggle to speak the words we were trying to find in newly acquired vocabulary and trying to articulate them into a challenging sentence structure. Bottom line is we are going to have to continue the educational process so maybe we'll see you at El Nopal on a sunny spring La Paz day.

We found El Nopal's website two days before leaving on our trip to Baja, through The Fives on the…read moreFly blog site. I took that family's advice and emailed Juan at El Nopal, letting him know that we were going to be in La Paz for four days and that we were hoping to have our two kids (ages 7 & 9) take beginning Spanish classes. He wrote back quickly, giving me class times that worked for us, including the first one at 9 am the morning after we were to arrive in La Paz. Our kids had Juan as a teacher the first day, and they had a great time and learned how to pronounce the Spanish alphabet, how to answer a few questions, and took a homework assignment with them for their next class. We enjoyed sitting in the pretty courtyard under a mango tree and grape vine, talking with Juan's wife, Marta, and a variety of expats who arrived for their class. For the second class, our boys had two classmates their age and a new teacher. They loved this class as well, and played with the other kids afterwards while we talked with more expats. If we were staying longer we definitely would have signed up for more classes! When we drove back through La Paz a week later on our way back to the airport, my older son asked if we had signed them up for another class before we flew home. He was very disappointed when I said there was not enough time. I should mention that when I first told him that they were going to take Spanish lessons he whined about having to "go to school" during his vacation. I highly recommend El Nopal, Juan and Marta, and the community they have created for anyone of any age! Their prices are very reasonable and you will find excellent language instruction together with a super friendly atmosphere.

I wish I had left this review sooner! I would recommend this surf school to anyone going to Cabo…read moreand looking for an adventure. This company is family owned and run. Francisco is patient, positive, and encouraging! Prior to going to line up, I was not able to stand up on a surfboard. I was able to stand up on my board several times during our lesson. I would recommend going to line up over the other surf schools the hotels advertise that cost more and are less authentic. Sandra provides photos at an extra cost which are well worth it. My husband and I had a great time!

All around terrible experience…read more We booked 2 days in advance. Went to the (non bilingual) shop paid 75 each for board rentals and transportation to the spot. We showed up today, the children running the "surf school" if that's what you want to call it.. are very very un helpful. After we picked our boards, which were full of pressure dents. My fiancé as well as 4 other people jumped into a small suv. There was absolutely no social distancing aspect. As well as all of the widows being broken and unable to roll down. I mind you the child driving is no older than 15. We finally get to the surf spot, which was covered in trash. We Have to unload gear our selfs. Finally make it out to the water. We both catch a couple waves and decide to come in for a break. Un announced to me this "locals spot" is full of rocks and coral. My fiancé and I both were scratched up trying to come in. After coming in and realizing the tide was going out, exposing rocks everywhere. This was never announced and we were never informed. At that point ( about 30 mins in) we told the child I'd be wanting my money back and he called his papa. In which I spoke too and communicated everything above. The other group that crammed into the suv with us was a son and mother. The son Also Went in and came directly back to shore. I paid 75$ usd each for both of us but the owner tried offering us the full school, for 150$ each.. Come to find out the other son and mother We're only quoted and paid 125$ for the full lessons. 25$ differnece?? Odd. They were Hispanic though I'm just a gringo. ‍ I'm sure the owner will come on here and try to say I am a inefficient surfer. That's not the case. This place is dangerous and the company needs some Management and or parental figures. The only reason they even got one star is solely because they refunded us the money. But the time is lost. I would have gone Literally anywhere else. To spend my day instead of wasting it with "Cabo Surf School Lineup"
