The best little honey store. Quality honey with the small town country store feel. Kind and polite service. Love it!

Alright, this is about to be my go-to spot every Salida visit I have!…read more I've never experienced so many different kinds of honey and to top it, I had the opportunity to taste test them! I felt like I was at a wine tasting, but for honey! I ended up buying some raw, unfiltered honey to help with my allergies being that it's derived from local Colorado bees and let me tell you, it's so delicious, you can taste the richness and care that went into it! Plus, the prices are excellent. I'll definitely be back!

Ironically, she's a 4th generation Honey producer. Why is it ironic? I was out! My mom gave me some honey and I couldn't get it soft! I even soaked it in hot water and attempted cooking it. The owner is such a wonderful lady. My shipment came so fast too! Packaged well and so delicious. I the card I received too. Such a personalized touch. I'm having the Honey Clover today with my tea! They offer an assortment variety from Honey butter to Specialty Honey to Creamed Honey to Honey comb and Honey sticks, and more! The website is beautifully laid out. She is in the process of updating inventory, please have patience. The website is: beekeepershoneyboutique.com Pricing is extremely reasonable! Did I mention she's a 4th generation Beekeeper? Whether you are in Salida or in Denver or elsewhere. Please check this wonderful business out! Colorado small businesses are important and needed. I'm a customer for life!

First off, I really dislike writing this review for a local, small town place in an area where my…read moreDH is from. I support small businesses, especially in small towns, but here we goooooo. The store is small, quaint, cozy, and right off the highway entering/leaving Alamosa. We generally purchase honey from a local market in Denver, forget the refined weird store stuff, right here in the valley is where we've found the best honey the last few times and decided to stop in a new place instead of buying off the street in La Jara. Anyhow, we walk in, never greeted, and head towards the small selection of honey that was available. The guy (manager) working that weekend must've rolled over to the wrong side of the bed in the middle of the night and fallen off because geez was he rude! We walked in and he coldly asked us if we were looking for honey - well, DUH, that's why were here I thought. We asked 2 questions while admiring the variety while he kept boxing up his shipment, not once coming over to help, so I stopped - it was no use, our questions seemed to pester him. They do offer a range of honey from seasonal honey, clover honey, huajillo honey, honeycomb etc, and I just wanted plain ol' honey, nothing fancy and some honeycomb. I asked which jar was the plain honey and he said they're the quart jars, I pointed to a quart jar and asked if this was it because it wasn't labeled and without looking over, he said, "well is that a quart?!?" Ok, jerk, I see it's a quart, but you can't walk 2 steps to help? Anyhow, we grab it and we walk the 2 steps to the register and my DH asks if the honey is made here, the guy says rudely, "the bees make the honey", well, we know that jerkwad, but he knew what my DH meant, so DH rephrased the question and asked if it was extracted here or elsewhere. Heck if we know, we were just curious - the bee colonies could be in the back yard or something. So finally, I throw in a remark and say "Ya know, we know it's Sunday, and although it's 10am, we all may still be sleepy, but could you just lighten up a bit ok?!?" I guess he realized he was being a total asshole and lightened up a bit by trying to show us his new salve recipe. By that time I just wanted to pay for my quart of plain honey and hit the road and not look back. Needless to say, I left behind the honeycomb because I no longer wanted to spend more money there and we definitely won't be back. Next time we'll just buy it from the gal that sells it off the road in La Jara. We always get a smile and a thank you when we leave. Oh, and I think the place needs a name change to Grumpa's Honey. Because that's who you'll get when you walk in the door.

Located on the corner of Main and Wall it is easy to get to from multiple parking areas. The sidewalk is large and is ramp accessible. This place is awesome! They pack a lot of stuff into two rooms. The front room is the fudge shop and I've heard them offer samples while I'm browsing. They have a huge mix of jam and honey on their shelves. You can find sweet flavors like chokecherry and about every version of jalapeno jam and honey out there. You will also find rustic themed mugs, hats and other souvenirs. It's a very homey and charming room. A ramp takes you to a back room that mostly contains a large assortment of purses, totes, jewlery and accessories. Though I pop in every year, I don't think I discovered how impressive the purse selection was until last year. I used to buy handmade bags at Off Broadway or other nearby places every year. However, I think this is my new go to for that and the last 2 years I have made those purchases here. The purses range from hand made to leather to native designs. The prices are the best on Main Street and I always hold off on my purchases until I pop in to compare. Last year I got a leather purse that was perfect for work and is soft enough for my preference. This year I found the coveted medium size bag, lol! I have many purses that are too big and many that are too small, this year was the just right purchase! The other items in this room are also reasonably priced. My husband got a hat that suites him nicely for $15, this year's purse is the cheapest yet at $21.99, you can get cute reusable grocery bags for $5 and plenty for your pre teen to choose from as well! Every time I come in, the same couple is working and they are very kind and patient and attentive. Service is great and selection is surprisingly awesome. I sort of feel like I'm in a Mary Poppins bag with all the various items that don't seem to belong in one place. It definitely has a personal touch to it and everyone I know likes coming here. Make sure you stop in at least once while passing through town. I'm pretty sure it won't be your last if you do!
