My experience with Ashley Montenegro was extremely negative -- she was demanding, rude, aggressive, and downright threatening. I was referred to her as a minor's counsel and told it would be around $2,000 and the "fastest, best option." When I finally spoke with her, she informed me it would actually be a minimum $5,000 retainer, could take 6-8 months, and might end up costing $10-15k. I told her clearly that I could not afford that and did not want to proceed. I never signed a contract, only had two brief email exchanges and one short phone conversation, and even my attorney informed her we would not be using her. We would be working on an agreement with my daughter's mom through our own lawyers. Despite that, I suddenly received a bill for about $350 for "services" she never performed. Things only got worse. She began calling me repeatedly, demanding payment, insisting she was my attorney (which she was not), and saying I had to use her. A month later, I received another outrageous bill for over $1,200 with bogus charges like "reviewing emails" and "placing calls." She then started threatening to take this to the judge, attach it to my child support, and force me to pay through the court. Completely unacceptable and beyond unprofessional. It is clear her only priority is padding her own pockets, not helping families or children. Please reconsider before hiring her -- there are far better, more ethical attorneys out there who will actually have your best interests in mind.

He sounded good over the phone and during the initial visit. Since that time I honestly believe that he represented the interests of my ex more than mine. I was in a huge battle for more time with my children yet my ex saw dollar signs by cutting my time with them by 75%. Never argued for me. Then came community property. Again the wife seeing dollar signs wanted half of my car, she had a car that was in her dads name that she bought during our divorce, I couldn't pay her off out of pocket which would cause me to sell my car and left without transportation to see my kids as well as get around town because she also wanted half the motorcycle I had. I gladly made the offer to give her the motorcycle and I keep my car. The ex didn't agree and Mr. Dewitt simply says, "She's entitled to half." No negotiation whatsoever. Other community property came down to the list we agreed on, even though, I told him that certain things got lined out that were agreed on already. Mr. Dewitts answer was that was the list that was going to be used. Spousal support Mr. Dewitt never tried to negotiate in my best interest and boiled it down to that we were in a long term marriage and I would have to pay for the rest of my life or until my ex was remarried or passed away. Yet other men I speak to in the same situations were able to negotiate the time there spousal support would come to end. I am not defaming or slandering the man. Perhaps he is a great person but I would never retain or recommend him to anyone I know. Yes it has been 5 years since my divorce and old wounds from it keep coming to bite me in the rear. I simply had to tell him that I no longer needed his services as they were not beneficial to me. I simply had to represent myself instead of pay his outrageous hourly rate along with being charged for every bit of correspondence in my case. I am not bitter as I have remarried and was able to build after being left with nothing. All Thanks be to God. Mr. Dewitt just to keep this review valid I had to respond. Had to micromanage their process for them and they were overall pretty terrible. I need to review my trust and make changes soon and I would 100% never even bother to call her to do the work even if she offered it for free. I'd steer clear.
