We are still somewhat new to the area, and I suddenly found myself in need of a gel pedi. After a quick trusty Yelping of close highest rated salons, I landed here at QOD, highly rated with happy pedi customer reviews and less than a mile away! Pros: [[HIGHLIGHT]]They greeted me and took me immediately as a walk in--yay! Though they are primarily Spanish speaking and I am sadly not, there was no issue with language barrier for getting what I want. I feel well understood.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They sat me and quickly found a good gel color match. Everything that makes a pretty gel pedi look is possible. But... Cons: No posh massage chairs or designated pedi area at all. The technician will place a plastic non electric tub of water under the manicure desk and work with your feet placed to her chair under the table. It 's a no frills not particularly indulgent gel pedi. She briefly utilized a regular manual foot file/emory board to soften feet a little, but I totally miss the efficient electric files I'm used to! Note: NO SHADE on QOD and my nice nail tech Carolina is meant by these comments! End result is adequate and the price is commensurate for West Kendall Miami. However, since I only get a gel pedi every couple of months or so, I really prefer more of a special "spa" experience. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It wasn't particularly enjoyable or relaxing at all. And no chit chat, since I don't speak enough Spanish.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They do get the job done and "nailed the look" (haha), but I prefer a particular experience: foot massage, special comfy chairs, electric jacuzzi foot tubs, etc. I'm very willing to pay more for the experience! If you are into the look of your pedicure only, then it's fine. Still, I paid over $50 for a no frills gel pedi. Next month I may try a Groupon for a new place, until I find a match for me. I'm so happy I found this place! I called the salon on Thursday morning, and they immediately fit me in into a same day appointment! My hairdresser was Marlene, she is wonderful ! I went into salon with nothing in mind, just wanting to get rid of all the split ends at the end of my hair. Marlene does dry cut on me , which takes a lot of skills. The reason why I gave a 4 Star instead of 5 is because Marlene is very rough, but you know what they said ... " no pain no gain" lol. My hair was almost 6 in shorter after the cut. I booked an appointment online for color, partial highlights, hair cut and blow dry. The online booking price was $165. When all was said and done I went to the register and was told $260. I didn't even get my hair cut so I couldn't understand why I was being charged so much more. I asked why it was so much more and was told that it depends on the the amount of product needed, amount of foil used.... My hair length is about 2-3 inches past my shoulders, not long at all. I have very thin hair. I have no clue where the upcharge came from. I ended up with color, partial highlights, blow dry and flat iron for $260. And to top it off I hate the highlights. I asked for dimension for my brunette hair. I specifically said I didn't want blonde highlights. They look streaky. Now I have to spend more money to have it corrected somewhere else. I first came to the salon back in June when Kristine took care of me. She was very patient and attentive and listened to my concerns about my haircare and answers the questions I had about my haircut. Truthfully, I was a walk in and had no clue what I even wanted done to my hair after a year in the pandemic. She took such great care of me that I did not hesitate to make a follow up appointment with her. I saw her again today to do a full balayage service and am completely blown away by the miracle she performed on my head!!! I had no issues being seen at my appointment time and she made sure I was completely on board with the color process before she started and even told me drawbacks of the bleaching I had asked for which I greatly appreciated. I visited this place for the first time today. My appointment was at 11am and I was seen at the exact time. I was scheduled with Cindy. I had like 3 different colors on my hair when I went in. I explained that I wanted to look and feel younger. I wanted my long hair cut short, but short enough to still be able to pick up my hair in a pony tail. She dyed my hair dark brown and added highlights (she let me choose the color of highlights and said her professional suggestions). They came out gorgeous. The total came out to $295 (it was a lot for me)...but she did do a miracle to my hair (she even put treatment on my hair)...so it was worth it. Cindy was so kind and welcoming over the phone. I'm back with an update after having spent the entire day at this salon. For starters, I showed Yoana a photo two weeks ago and mentioned a detail about a streak of natural grey hair that I wanted to keep. When Zayonara saw me this morning, she knew exactly who I was and exactly what I wanted, right down to the detail of the streak! (Boom! Points!) As the morning progressed, not once was I left alone; everyone is so friendly. (More points!!) I developed a headache and Yoana went to the bakery next door, brought me pastries and a soda to drink. (Is this real life? POINTS!) Now, to the business of the update for this review: My hair appointment. One word. ZAYONARA. As long as you: don't have black hair and want to go platinum in one day, have patience and have about 8 hours to sacrifice to the Countess of Color, get in line for an experience with this artist. I let her at it. Told her to just go and allowed her to be as creative as she wanted to be. I am speechless, still. She truly executed. I have not stopped looking in the mirror, because every time I look at my hair, I see a spectrum of different colors blending together perfectly. The cut was exactly what I wanted, as well. If I could rate my experience with Marlene the hairstylist a "0", I totally would! I got home about 2 hours ago and saw the back of my head for the first time and cried. When I first arrived, she greeted me and asked me to show her pictures of what I wanted. I showed her pictures of medium to long bobs and she said that we could totally do that but that the front of my hair wasn't long enough to get the full effect of the angled bob. I appreciated her honesty. I've had my hair cut with her once before and never had an issue. So she cut my hair dry and then took me to the shampoo station to wash my hair to then blow dry and style it. During the blow drying/styling process she asked me a couple of times "do you like it?" I said yes because I was facing the mirror and could only see the front of my hair. Not once did Marlene, spin the chair around or gave me a mirror to look at the back of my head. Not once! When she asked twice if I was happy I got a bad feeling. I knew the back of my head was going to be a disaster. I'm including pictures of my haircut. I'm distraught and have some events coming up and I don't know how to fix this. I may have to get extensions put in to even out this mess. I don't want to go any shorter. I'm so disappointed. My family members are telling me to call the salon but I'm not a confrontational person but this is just unacceptable. I went QOD Miller after seeing a picture of someone who had hair like me and she talked about JoVi and how good she was specially doing Balayage which was what I wanted. Jovi did an amazing job is not easy to do a balayage on black previously dye hair ( box dyed) and she was able to take me from black to blonde in a day without damaging my hair. You see so many people doing beautiful balayage but always is from blonde to blonde which is easy but Jovi took my from black to blonde now that is real work.
