Jen, the proprietor, has years of experience in Connecticut and worked for a popular salon down the road. She gives clients what they want, and when they're unsure, she offers practical suggestions. I needed my roots done or some way to blend it due to regrowth and no energy to fix it. I would have been ok with an off scalp application that blends the line with bleach or a semi darker dye. Instead, I was just basically looked at like nope, we only do highlights. When I asked the estimated wait time, I was told 15-20 minutes. 15 minutes passed. Then 30. Then 45. Two other customers, seated where we were, were greeted and seen - still no update. After a solid hour had passed, I asked when I might be seen. "Huh - forgot you were there." Immediate back turn, no apology or further interaction. I said "sorry, I didn't catch your response." Some quick exchanges between employees then "we can't help you, come back later." This is a business actively seeking walk-ins. We were clean, quiet and respectful. We sat in plain sight and were right in front of other customers. So what gives? Eliminating all other possibilities, it appears that us being an interracial couple was the problem. I get that we were walk-ins, but shouldn't some kind of update or notice come after the estimated time had passed, in quadruplicate? I have the distinct impression that we were not welcome and would never be served, backed up by our experience. If you like this kind of discrimination, disrespect and passive-aggressive treatment this is the place for you.
