I cannot begin to tell you the number of times I have "settled" for a haircut or flat out grew my hair longer just to avoid having another bad experience. That is, until I sat in Georgina's chair and got the hands-down best stylist experience I have ever had. From the skills to the space and insistence on you leaving satisfied, your strands are safe in her hands. The Space Within a cozy business plaza just across from the theater on Newberry, Georgina's personal chair sits nestled inside a very clean, well-decorated shared space. The concept at this location is less "sea of cookie-cutter chairs, all side-by-side" and more "private, comfortable areas to just chat and relax". It is so private, in fact, that I do not see the faces of any other stylists who also work their magic while visiting, nor other patrons getting styled. Perhaps people-watchers like the communal approach, but I love this isolation. Getting your hair done is even more relaxing when other noise and chatter are gone, plus if you have been going to the same expert for years you are likely to want to catch up with them. The Service Let me start by saying I have not just gone "to the same place for years." I have been seeing the same PERSON for years (roughly 3 years I believe). Apart from her skills, which I will go into soon, Georgina is a genuinely thoughtful, patient person. She never fails to offer amenities for those who like a beverage or coffee to make their experience even more of a value, so keep that in mind if you are thinking of paying her a visit. For me, even before she took on her own space, it was clear she had incredible "chair-side manner" with her visitors. Effortless conversation if you are the type, but I imagine even those who are not chatty would feel comfortable relaxing quietly while getting spruced up. The Styles Did I mention the double crowns and cowlick? Having had such troublesome experiences with chains and other alternatives, I asked a friend who styled hair if she would take me on. Her response (approximately): "I honestly am not as strong at men's cuts as Georgina. She's a rockstar and you should seriously book her." I did just that, and she was not wrong. I sat down, expressed my woes of the past: lop-sided, off-kilter, unruly, etc. Georgina heard me and, in a flash, turned those fears into a clean, slick, downright fly-AF haircut I was proud to walk away sporting. I even managed to convince my girlfriend to see her and she was extremely attached to an out-of-town stylist -- and she loved her 'do too! Final Thoughts At the risk of making Georgina too busy to ever see me again, I encourage anyone looking for a long-term, careful stylist to book her ASAP. Her work speaks for itself in pictures, but as someone looking to just get a decent haircut against the odds of my genetic traits, I am telling you she can make magic happen.

I asked for a trim/cut to remove the dead ends and keep long layers, I informed her I had curly frizzy hair and usually my stylist will cut it after the blowdry. She stated she preferred to cut it wet and informed me she would touch it up after the blowdry, which was fine with me. When it came to the blowdry, it was clear she was not skilled with proper technique to blow out thick curly hair. It took about 30 minutes just for one section when finally another stylist noticed and asked if she wanted help. The other stylist asked what product was in my hair and stated that probably wasn't the right product to use and offered her blow dryer. The other stylist did a section that turned out just fine. My stylist continued on with the rest of my hair, at points I had to inform her the blow dryer was burning my scalp. The end result was a frizzy mess and it was clear I was not happy with the outcome, while her and the other stylist kept trying to normalize it by saying "Oh some people's hair just resists the blow dry" "it's looking so good!" etc. I truly didn't appreciate these comments as I have obviously gotten several blowouts and know my hair can definitely be blown out frizz-free. She also did not touch up the haircut at the end as she previously said she would and I was left with choppy layers that I will have to get fixed. The most disappointing part is that I tried to contact the salon owner three times to have this fixed with literally no response.

If you are a senior, like me, but don't want to look like one with a bad hair style, Rose is the stylist for you. I could tell right away that she would be able to help me with my "bad hair day" issues. This beautiful vintage Salon was very bright with plenty of big windows, beautiful hard wood floors and nice decor. The receptionists were very friendly. I can certainly recommend this Salon, whether you are young or elderly, I know first-hand that Rose would listen to any concerns you might have, or new styles that you would like to try. But yesterday was the worst and most poorly done hair cut I have ever received. I walked in to the Supercuts by Publix off 34th and sat down for a trim, wash, and dry. Selena (the woman who cut my hair, she had a shave on her lower hair line and had her hair up in a messy bun, I believe that was her name, I called this morning to double check as well) asked me what I wanted. I told her I have been growing my hair out for my upcoming wedding. I told her I want to cut off the dead ends but to take as little off as possible and do a straight across cut, pretty basic. I then gathered a few pieces around the front of my hair and said that they normally cut these shorter to frame my face. Also it was apparent that was the case because those were the only pieces that were at a different length than the rest of my hair. She said ok and got to cutting. She told me she'd cut off no more than an inch and if that'd be ok, I said great! She trimmed my hair and asked me how it looked, I said great. *At this point she had cut it straight across and left it long as I asked. She then started to frame my face (from what I believed at the time with the pieces I had specifically showed her) and didn't say another word or ask me any more questions until the end. She showed me my hair and she had angled my entire hair. I told her that's not what I had asked for to which she responded with a "tip" to help me better communicate to my next stylist. I notified her I have come to this specific Supercuts several times and gotten the same hair cut, giving the same explanation, and never had any issues. She apologized and chalked it up to a "miscommunication". She then gave me a discount and I went on my way extremely sad and upset. When I got home I brushed out my hair. The cut she had attempted to do (even though that's not what not what I wanted) was done HORRIBLY. My hair looks two different lengths with the front being very short and the back being longer (not blended at all). Not to mention, while "blending" she also missed so many pieces of hair around my head when cutting and I now have long hair where she attempted to cut it short and visa versa. Also, in addition to this cut, I left with damp hair although I had asked for a blow dry. I am extremely disappointed and upset because this now has ruined my engagement photos and my soon to be wedding photos, something I've looked forward to my entire life and something I've been trying to grow my hair out for two years now to which she took away in less than an hour. Now not only is that gone but I have to pay extra money to have my hair re-cut/fixed (to which they'll have to cut it even shorter because of how uneven she made it) and to buy vitamins/supplements to help it grow. Not to mention the extensions I'll now need for my engagement photos and possibly my wedding photos. I'm at a loss and I know writing this won't take back what happened to me yesterday, but it needed to be said and shared. Of course this will be my lessened learned to going to supercuts to someone I do not know nor trust. It just stinks because I've never ever had an issue like this with them before, and of course this happens close to my wedding.
