Found my Hairdresser…read more Virginia. This place is beautiful, easy to park, easy to wait in. All the things that make an independent salon preferable. Then there are the people. Locals walked in throughout my experience. Hellos and catch up stories flew. The best was the hair cut. In lvl my years, I've never experienced a more professional one hour appointment. The stylists are a man down, with the owner out on convalescent leave. Phones were answered, questions from people popping in and some appointments coming in at wrong times. Through it all, I felt cared for and not rushed. Will try the nail services at some point. Fantastic place to support local.

I went to this place asking for a nice, simple professional trim & the girl that did my hair-I…read moredon't think she ever even went to school to learn how to cut hair. I asked her to do 'face framing' in the front & there's a certain method I've seen other professionals-I think the term they used was 'texturise'. I've seen them use a scissor & a comb & cut the hair on a downward angle. One made the scissors bounce off the hair which gave my hair natural curl in the front. The style I was really looking for is called 'the flip'-the look that made Farrah Fawcett of Charlie's Angels famous. She did something in the front. It wasn't like other hairdressers did & I don't think it was right. Plus I asked her to use the hairdryer & curling brush bc I wanted cascading long curls because I have long hair. I figured she knew what I was talking about & that she knew what she was doing. Boy, was I wrong!! My hair got really frizzy at the top near my scalp( because she wasn't holding the hairdryer right)-YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO POINT THE HAIRDRYER TOWARD THE WET HAIR THATS ON THE CURLING BRUSH ON A DOWNWARD ANGLE ABOUT 6 INCHES AWAY FROM THE HAIR; NOT PRESSING THE HOT HAIRDRYER RIGHT UP AGAINST TGE HAIR!!!! At the time, I was looking down at my phone & when I looked up, I was like,"OH, No! Stop!" For one she was about to burn up my hair! #2, I was shocked that I had to show her how to properly use a hairdryer without doing damage. I heard on a YouTube video about 'how to get healthy hair' that you should point the hairdryer downward. Not holding it close to the hair & waving it is-to me-just common sense, which I guess she lacked. Right away she thought I didn't want heat. I DID want heat, but I wanted you to hold it away from my hair & wave it at the same time. Needless to say, I guess I'll have to continue my search elsewhere. Here's a pic of my hair after It was done perfectly by Sierra at the JCPenney Salon at the Coubtryside Mall in Clearwater, Fl. I showed this to her thinking this would help her. I will say she washed my hair nicely & did half decent(not perfect) job on my eyebrows.
