While her reason was valid, (she fell pregnant and planned to start her maternity leave at 34 weeks, and my wedding would have put her at 35-36) I felt the way in which she has handled the situation to be unprofessional. She left all the leg work in finding a replacement artist to me, as she had already booked up her assistant that day with another wedding, (but was very quick to tell me she was taking bookings up to 34 weeks, you know, for my "summer makeup needs.") Finding another MUA has quickly become a very difficult task, as my wedding is over a holiday weekend and I'm currently residing overseas; hence why I booked her so far in advance! When I emailed her to express my frustration and explain the difficulty I would have finding a replacement, she suggested I go to a mall makeup counter to have my bridal makeup done. While I appreciate that sometimes beauty professionals have to cancel due to forces outside of their control, they should be willing to make their backup artist available, especially to brides! Brittany has very much left me high and dry, scrambling to find a replacement whose work I'm happy with. This is not something I would wish on any bride!
