She had just finished with a client earlier than expected and somehow made room for me without hesitation. The salon itself is clean, modern, and airy--comfortable in a way that puts you at ease without trying too hard. But it was Lauren's presence that made the real difference. From the start, she was warm and easy to talk to, and she genuinely welcomed my questions about her life, her business, and her travels. Our conversation was effortless, and being able to shift my focus onto someone so kind and grounded was exactly the kind of happy distraction I didn't know I needed. There were a few people who came in while I was there, hoping for walk-ins, and Lauren treated every one of them with kindness--even while making it clear, without words, that she was fully present with me. She held eye contact, stayed grounded, and somehow made me feel seen the whole time. To be honest, I had a pretty bad haircut experiences a few months prior, and I came in that morning carrying a lot of anxiety. But Lauren's calm, down-to-earth vibe put me at ease in a way I didn't expect. She didn't overdo it--she was just authentically herself. That alone made a huge impact. And yes--my hair looked amazing. I only wish I had asked for styling tips so I could recreate the magic at home. When I left, I felt like a different version of myself--lighter, calmer, more myself. Lauren even recommended a nearby spot where I could work remotely, and her suggestion was perfect. Every piece of that day unfolded better because of her. I live in New Orleans, but I'm genuinely considering making the hour drive just to have Lauren cut my hair again (next time, with an appointment). I made my appointment with Jake. We did money shot of ash blonde (close to grey) and I decided to cut my hair a nice medium length. My hair would reach my hips and I had an old balayage (1 year ago). He used the medium length to still have some of the old balayage and guide for making a great money shot that framed my face nicely. The experience was amazing. He was friendly, we talked about travel and places to eat/drink around the area. He gave me water bottle when I asked and he even lent me a charger for my phone. He is very skilled and tries to achieve what you want. The price was perfect! I wish I can come but I'm not from around here. If not I would do my follow up with him. read more

They were able to accommodate my short fused appointment. My stylist was friendly and it was easy to converse with him. He mad sense of the bits and pieces I offered up as the description for what I wanted to walk out with. I usually go home and "fix" what other stylists didn't get quite right. My hair is perfect this time, I am unbelievably happy with my refreshed style. While he was blowing me out I realized he had not combed/brushed over my ears, not even once. That was HUGE for me! Jake is worth the 90 minute drive EVERY single time. He's colored my hair half a dozen times and each time he blows my mind. The first time I went to Jake, I had no idea what I wanted - I just knew I needed something different. Since that day, I've given him the freedom to try something different every time. As a secondary teacher, I fully admit I wait too long between sessions (it's impossible to find a substitute sometimes). However, he takes the sporadically grey hot mess hair I bring him, decides what he think will look amazing, and he goes for it. It always leaves me completely speechless. And my teenage son won't let anyone else cut his hair. If you want someone who can perform wonders on your hair (and make you laugh so hard you hurt), Jake is perfect for you. I went to this salon recently and in looking at some of these reviews I thought I would share my experience as it was mixed. The salon itself is cute, but on the eclectic side & while the stylists are quite talented in their color & cuts they lack luster in their attitude towards welcoming new clients. It feels like more of a place that has established its clientele and not really looking for new ones. I am not sure how you could grow a business, but maybe they are doing so well that they have forgotten the little details in welcoming new clients. read more

I had scheduled an appointment for last Saturday August 8th, at 11. I arrived there 5 minutes early, and walked in and the two hair dressers that were currently with their customers, just gave me a blank look and looked away from me, without saying hello. I sat there, right in front of them on the couch for 10 minutes, still without being greeted whatsoever. Finally, at 10 minutes past my appointment, I spoke up and said I had an appointment at 11. One of the female hairdressers said that the person that was supposed to do my hair had a flat tire and would be a few minutes late. I completely understand that having a flat tire is a great inconvenience so I decided to wait a few more minutes. I waited 30 minutes past my appointment, again without being notified on how much longer it would be. I finally decided to leave, and left my number at the desk so the hairdresser could call me to reschedule. Of course, I never received a call to reschedule or even an apology. So basically, I drove out of my way to visit this well reviewed salon, wasted 30 minutes of my time sitting there, and drove back home. The hairdressers were extremely rude as soon as I walked in. The slightest thing they could have done is to greet me and check me in. If they would have done that, I would have known immediately that my hairdresser was going to be late, and I wouldn't have wasted my time, but instead, I would have been glad to reschedule. After my experience last weekend, I would not recommend this salon to anyone. The attitude that I received as soon as I walked in, was completely negative and rude, and the fact that I sat there for 30 minutes giving them the benefit of the doubt, and still have not received a phone call or apology is completely unprofessional. If someone does not have the ability to say hello to me when I walk into their business, then I would never trust them to touch my hair. read more

A salon in Gulfport ruined my hair, or so I thought. I made an emergency appointment here and Cassie saved it! I have long hair and have been growing it for years, my hair is what makes me decide if I look good for the day or not. For me it is all about the hair, not the shoes. I noticed that my hair was thinning in the back but thought it was due to getting older. It turns out she was taking hair from the back and cutting it forward, making the hair thin out in the back. I was here visiting for a short while, so I was very lucky to be able to make a VERY last minute appointment (more like someone cancelled and then they were sweet enough to squeeze me in:)) ERICA, was my hair stylist and if I could bring her back with me to Northern Virginia I would! I was terrified to find a new stylist after moving to Mississippi and after not coloring my hair for years, I needed a change and a different cut. After some researching, I picked Hair + Tonic because they had great reviews which are totally correct. I lucked out and Lauren was available. I wanted to try balayage for a more natural transition with less upkeep than all-over color and gave her an idea of what I wanted out of my cut and she NAILED IT!
