I was recommended by a neighbouring cafe I always go to, Clement & Pekoe. The two lads really take pride and joy in what they do. The y have a couch that is comfy to sit in, tv's, beers etc. Top spot. Dont expect a quick shave of the head. They cater for all types of hair cuts, I enjoy having my hair long and they just tidied it up nicely. I will definitely be back to them.

Will not be setting a foot inside this place again. After my last experience I was keen to explain exactly what I wanted so as to avoid another disappointment, but the woman cutting my hair was so unbelievably rude. She cut me off and said sarcastically "you're gonna teach me, huh?". Wow....what a great way to speak to a paying customer. I got embarrassed and hushed up, when I should've just got up and walked out. She then proceeded to hack away without a word while I sat in stony silence. It felt very uncomfortable. Twice more I tried to give her some detail about what I would like and each time she shot me down, as if to say 'I'm the one with the scissors, I know how to cut hair, so shut up'. In the end the cut looked completely the opposite of what I had attempted to ask for, again way too much length taken off the top even after I had mentioned that I wanted to keep it long. I was too tired for a confrontation. I begrudgingly handed over the money and left feeling so pissed. If you are in anyway particular about your hair, don't go here because they are not interested in listening to you.

Ironically, it was finally finished when the recession already had Ireland in his grip, but never the less I hear that the rent for the top penthouse is in the several thousands region. Anyhow. The Barber shop is "Grand", like the name says. The team is friendly and last time I went there (a friday evening) the place was full, but thanks to the efficiency of the people I didn't have to wait too long. My hairdresser was a nice hungarian lady and the chat was interesting and not of the "artificial" style I always experience at other hairdressers (like the hairdressers from hell - chain "Peter Mark"...). I got a free delicious coffee with it and if you happen to work for Google you even get a 6 Euro discount - so all in all great stuff: I found my new personal shaver! :)

So the student offer is €10. Monday to Friday. Before 12.30. Sounds great right? Well it is a good price but once they find out you are a student the treatment on offer is polar opposites to full price treatment you get. Don't get me wrong. They ain't treating you badly but the attention to detail is just not there. I was asked if I was a student when I sat down in the chair. [I must be looking like a student these days and need to sort that out immediately. This is not a good thing.] Do you have your student card with you I was asked. I did. He proceeded. He did a good job on my hair but if I am honest I was skeptical as it was so so quick. But on further inspection afterwards it was good. For a mid week morning it was busy. So be prepared to wait. I think you can make an appointment though if you get a name of a barber you like. I think the normal price is €22 so €10 is a huge discount for students but it is not the same experience if they are aware of your student status pre haircut. Will I be back? Of course. It was a good cut. I may just dress up a little so they don't presume I am a student. Jeez I must have been dressed like a total skank.
