The Barber's Room is small but spacious, with only 4 stations, and it's not unusual to find 3 or 4 people ahead of you in the queue when it's busy. I don't want to even imagine how crowded it can get on a Saturday. As a result, I usually drop in first thing on a weekday morning to try and beat the crowds.
The owner Keith is a bit of a perfectionist, and will often spend a full hour cutting my hair and tweaking it until it is just right. And anytime Keith cuts my hair, it always is just perfect at the end.
As more staff appeared over the years, they've taken a page out of Keith's book and will often spend a good hour obsessing over your haircut. Each member of staff is chatty and always interesting to natter away with, so the time tends to fly without you even noticing.
The decor is quite trendy, with a leather couch and a vintage arcade machine now serving as a coffee table. There are painted prints on the walls including one of Glamour Bowie in the 70s and assorted music and gig details about. The music is always impeccable and when the radio station proves disappointing, Keith will often put on something from his CD collection to correct the atmosphere.
At €17 - €20 for a dry cut, it's perhaps a tad pricier than a traditional barbers, especially those near Trinity College, which are trying to appeal to the budget conscious students. But I've never been disappointed with the service, the haircuts, or the chats, so I keep on going back again and again.
