I had a terrible experience with Duane. I had a death in my family and when I called to reschedule the morning before my afternoon appointment, he did not stop to find out why and started yelling, telling me that he wanted my credit card because he demanded payment for the hour that I was supposed to be there. He is a good stylist and Debbie is really good with color, but Duane gets angry too easy and does not think before he judges and God forbid, says things he cannot take back. Also they push their special products and make you feel horrible if you do not buy what they are pushing. On top of that, they did not have what I needed in stock and they sold me a product that was not the strength that I need it for my hair type. In other words. I feel like they would do anything just to make a sale. When I expressed my opinion that the product did not get good reviews, Debbie got defensive. Two years ago Duane told me that I did not have enough money to come to them and then later on he thought about it and he apologized. But now we go through the same thing again only this time I don't think he's going to mend his ways. If you can handle his high strung temperament this place might be just fine for you. read more

He is horrifying, when he gets mad. And the way he treats his wife, who is a gem, in front of the cliental, borders on verbally abusive. He is all nice, till you say one thing he does not agree with. Don't go unless you want your hair cut like his wife's (they work together). He spent a lot of time telling me how good he was and not enough time listening to what I asked for. I asked for my hair to be cut to below my shoulders and that I could still wear it in a ponytail. My hair was down to the middle of my back and now doesn't even touch my shoulders. Can't get all my hair into a ponytail and the hair that is long enough only leaves a short spiky ponytail. Was starting a new job and wanted to feel good about it. I feel so embarrassed. I apologize for the lengthy review. I was a new client. I have Multiple Sclerosis & heat sensitivity is a problem with my thick hair. My only request was "as long as it ALL goes in a low ponytail so I can keep it off my neck" & he said he'd do that. I also didn't like how bulky my ponytail is, & I said he could layer it BELOW the ponytail to fix that. I suffered alopecia last winter from an M.S. drug I was on, & the bangs area was not only thin but gray from the roots in a big area right in front. I hadn't colored it in a while; it looked bad. Dwayne sold me a kit with shampoo, conditioner & serum, also a styling gel, all to help regrow thinning hair. Due to arm weakness, I can wash my hair only about once a week. I knew it wasn't likely the products could work if I didn't use them more often than once a week, so I never opened or used them. The total price of them was $65. Two & 1/2 months later I was in the area, so I took them back for a refund. He said "it's been too long, so you can't get a refund, but you can get a service". (There is no return policy posted anywhere, or printed on the receipt.) I scheduled a cut for a few days later. When I arrived for my cut at 10 a.m., there was a lady in his chair getting a trim. Dwayne was saying to her how "often Debbie schedules a client in front of another when there isn't time enough to squeeze them in". He was looking at me as he said it. It was more than 30 minutes later that he finished with her & called me over. I tried to again explain why I brought the products back, but he kept cutting me off, saying repeatedly "we're not going to talk about products!" He seemed angry. Debbie said "I told him you just couldn't afford the products & that's why you returned them!" I then said that it did NOT all go in a low ponytail after the 1st cut, & that the layers were so short it was many weeks until finally I could get them all in. He was not happy with that. I wear glasses which have to come off; I can't see what is happening during a cut. Also, he blew it dry with a diffuser after that 1st cut, so I couldn't tell it was too short. Dwayne then cut it SO short, there was only a tiny ponytail if I pulled very tightly. He said "do you want to just leave with it wet in a ponytail, since you said that's all you do at home?" He had made me so uncomfortable, I agreed so I could just get out of there. Later that day, I removed the ponytail. When I saw the back, I was horrified. He had cut a large section in the center way short. Obviously that's why he encouraged me to leave with a wet ponytail ~ he didn't want me to see what he'd done! Outrageous. He got his revenge for my complaints, he didn't dry or style it which is supposed to be included in the $60 charge, he got back $65 in products, & he gave me such a rude attitude he surely knew I would never return! You definitely DON'T always get what you pay for. They "poor-shamed" me as well, Debbie adding before I left "now you can go 6 more months before it needs to be cut again!" Needless to say I was very embarrassed, and ashamed that I'm disabled with M.S. & unable to work & afford $60 haircuts. I would give them a very negative, "minus 2" rating. read more

To find a level of skill and professionalism every bit the match of the finest salons in Dallas was a very pleasant surprise for us after we moved to the Sherman area. Add to that the personable and caring style of Dwayne and Debbie and you've got an incredible winning answer for all your hair needs. I don't plan to let anyone touch my hair but Dwayne from now on. I agree with the lady with ms. I went to the salon one time & swore to never go back. The haircut was not what I requested. It looked like a child had cut it. Also more effort was made to sell their overpriced products than to please me as a customer. I too bought products for thinning hair & all I got was a sore scalp. This lesson cost me over $100.00. Just needed a good hair cut. Dwayne spent 2 hours selling me product in fact I was told not to come back if I did not buy product. The hair cut was good. But give me a break I spent a lot of money sending a daughter to school to get her cosmetology license ,so why can't I take advantage of her buying product at cost.. Please take your business elsewhere. There are lots of nice and professional hairdressers in Sherman who can give you the same haircut at a lower price + better customer service. These people are standoffish, disorganized, and pretentious. When I went in for a haircut a couple of years back, Dwayne made a series of racist comments about a homeless man walking by his shop. Then more recently he miscommunicated the date and time of an appointment. When no one showed up at the time he ~thought~ was scheduled, he expected full payment for the appointment. I'm not the type to jump on Yelp and bash small businesses, but they should have considered their reputation before behaving so horribly. read more
