The only good thing about this "bakery" is the name they picked. Half-baked is to the point, describes the taste of most of their stuff, and lack of any artistic flair in presentation. I have not been to the store itself, but was "assaulted" by their half-baked goods at a party. It's no exaggeration that no one could finish a cupcake. The birthday cake looked like it has been in a terrible car accident. All you could taste was sugar and raw flour. It was utterly disgusting. The hosts were so embarrassed and apologetic. The cake is consistently fantastic but their service today was beyond amazing. I ordered a cake for my husbands birthday to be picked up at Whitehall. When I got there it wasn't ready, No biggie, I'll come back (Whitehall is way easier than Main Street and only a mile away). The owner instead apologized, gave us a bunch of cake pops, delivered the cake to my house, and gave us 6 cupcakes. My young children are telling everyone about the owner and what she did. I'm a cupcake snob from California no less who relocated back East. I've been so sad in trying to find a great cupcake place. Half-baked is an answered prayer. Their cupcakes are flavorful, fresh, moist with the perfect amount of density and darn finger-licking good. Their cakes look impressive and are reasonably priced. I only wish they were open slightly later but then again I'd be a daily visitor if they were and I'm not sure my waist line could handle all that delicious sweetness. I went to Half Baked Patisserie for the first time. I was ordering for a Brunch last minute. My original baker had an emergency and couldn't produce my order. I ordered a cake and cupcakes and my guest were beyond pleased. The hit of the brunch was the Raspberry Champagne infused cupcakes. My guests raved about how delicious the cake and cupcakes were. Cupcakes are awesome! The young blonde girl was sweet - but everyone else ignored us like the plague, only answering our questions when the girl asked them. Maybe HBP would do better as a wholesale place where they don't have to interact with other people. Or, they could rethink their game and put service back in their customer service. Bonus points if they take a cue from Martha's Country Bakery in Queens NY and offer a sit-down experience with an espresso bar. Recently got my daughter's wedding cake from this bakery - the cake tasted stale and was extremely dry. I attended the cake tasting with my daughter/son in law and tasted every flavor that we ordered -the favors of the cake that we got the day of the wedding simply were NOT the same as the ones we tasted in the bakery (for example bottom tier was to be snickerdoodle but we got plain vanilla and 2nd tier was to be chocolate Oreo cheesecake but there was no cheesecake filling - just chocolate cake with white buttercream filling in the middle). Aesthetically, the cake looked fine (not spectacular, just fine) but overall, a very disappointing experience, particularly for the price of a 5 tier wedding cake. As a vegan and a temporary resident of Delaware, I have to say that the selection of vegan cupcakes Half Baked Patisserie has to offer is mouthwatering. Although vegans can only get a vanilla or chocolate cake base, the finished products are SO GOOD. Go somewhere else that's CLEAN and FRIENDLY. I really wanted to give this place five stars. I mean there's only five reviews on here and three of five barely give it one star. What could be so terrible with the customer service?. And who doesn't like cupcakes?! I've only shopped here twice. The last time I visited the bakery was a few months ago to order a dozen cupcakes to take it to a friend that I was visiting. There was a fly buzzing around the case where the cupcakes were on display. I understand people are in and out of the bakery with the door opening closing. However the two women that were working there were eating their hoagies from down the street. I think I would've been more focused on getting rid of the flies then my hoagie. I figured I'd give it another shot today understanding that the outside insects may not be very controllable. I walk in the bakery and asked the woman behind the counter for two dozen cupcakes. And the woman looked me right in the face and said "I can't sell you two dozen I can only sell you a dozen and a half. anything over that has to be pre-ordered" I'm not quite sure I understand why she didn't want to sell her inventory. They could just make more cupcakes, what's the difference between a half a dozen and a dozen? I didn't know it that hard to buy from a seller. And to buy cupcakes at that!. And what small business wouldn't want to sell to a potential buyer. Without batting an eye she started to close the case. apparently lost business was not a concern for her. Maybe she's rolling in the dough "pun intended" After that I was on my way. I hope this was not the owner, because I'm sure when she was wishing and dreaming and hoping and praying her business will be successful this was not the type of person she would want or expect working for her life dream. First of all, nothing French about this place ...Patisserie?? Regular run of the mill cupcake, cookies, bar cookies etc The cashier did not seem to know the prices of the items, overcharged me, I had to point out the correct posted price!!! Furthermore she suggested my item would be good microwaved, so I asked if she could microwave it for me and she complied. To start off the cake we purchased for a birthday party looked nothing like what we requested. The cake looked like my 10 yr old son could do the design. It was horrible. What takes the cake is the customer service, some folks should not run a business with the attitudes they have. Was back in on Saturday. The service was very pleasant and the cupcakes were even better. My kids absolutely adored the icing in the Funfetti (I think it was). They looked like tiny Christmas trees. I had a pumpkin cream and a maple bacon. Both were very good. The maple bacon made me wonder what it would be like with a chocolate ganache. Recently ordered a birthday cake for my daughter from here and I will not be going back. I placed my order with the owner/manager in person on 1/10/2020 for a party on 1/26/20 (a Sunday). At the time I placed the order she advised me that their hours MAY change and they would no longer be open on Sundays. She stated that if this was the case someone would call me and let me know and I would need to pick up the cake the day before (the 25th). I informed her that this was ok. The theme of the cake was Baby Shark and I showed her a picture of what I wanted. The picture only showed 3 sharks, however she specifically asked me if I wanted all 5 of the sharks which I stated that I did. I was charged $5 per shark and nickel and dimed for every other little thing as well. I was charged the full amount for the cake the day I placed the order ($77.00 for an 8" diameter cake). She asked that I e-mail the picture of the cake I showed her and I did so per her request. Fast forward to the day before the party (the 25th). At this point I had not heard from anyone about needing to pick the cake up early so I called to make sure I could still pick the cake up on the 26th. When the employee answered I explained to her what I was told my the owner/manager and she placed me on hold for more then 5 minutes. When she got back on the phone she told me that she was currently working on the cake and since they would be closed on Sunday I could pick the cake up by 4:30 (at this time it was around 1:30). I was highly upset, because had I not called we would have been without a cake since no one called to tell me they were closed on Sunday. When I arrived to pick up the cake there were only 3 sharks (even though I was charged $5 per shark) on the cake and it was sloppily done (I guess the girl who made the cake only looked at the picture and not specifically at the instructions written down by the manager). I also reiterated to the employee that no one ever called me to tell me that I needed to pick up the cake the day before. At this time she then tells me that there would be someone at the store on Sunday for orders to be picked up. By this time I am furious, however I was not going to get anywhere with an employee so I left with the cake being that I already paid. When we cut the cake the day of the party it was dry and there was nothing special about it. Definitely not a $77.00 worthy cake. The Tuesday after the party I went to the store to speak with the owner/manager, however she was not in. I spoke with an employee and expressed my concerns. She was very helpful and apologetic and advised she would forward my complaint to the owner. A week went by and I never heard from the owner (she had my phone # and e-mail address). I stopped by the store again and spoke to the same employee and informed her that I need heard from the owner. She pulled my order form with my complaint on it that was STILL hanging on the wall. She again apologized and stated that the owner was busy as she also works a full-time job. I explained that it was horrible customer service and just because she is busy doesn't mean she should neglect her customers. It has been almost I month and I have never heard from the owner. HORRIBLE customer service and the cakes are overpriced for the quality that you get. WILL NOT BE RETURNING!!! read more

First off I don't normally post reviews but felt this was necessary. I Placed a cake order for my sons 2nd birthday and was totally displeased. First I was told I could pick the cake up at 9 a.m. .. When my mom arrived they didn't even have a cake box for my cake and told her "well we don't even open until 10 so that's why there's no box." Who doesn't have cake boxes at a bakery ?!!? When she left to go pick up balloons from Fulton paper to buy some time until they got a box , the owner was in Fulton paper buying a cake box! Second the cake looked nothing like the picture I showed them I wanted. It was supposed to be in the shape of a bone and they told me whatever they cut off of the cake they would icing and place in a seperate box. They basically threw those pieces (which was basically another half of my cake to feed 60 since it was the same size as the bone) in a box which mind you did NOT have any filling like the rest of my cake . So I got a half of a cake decorated and half of a cake with filling. The second half not decorated and filled cake was thrown in a box with icing scribbled on top that said "eat more cake"? To top it all off the cake looked nothing like the picture I wanted. My friend Is scheduled to have a cake from them this weekend and when she called to say how unhappy she was with mine they told her it was because mine was a sheet cake ? First off never seen a sheet cake be that thin and second off should have never discussed my order with another customer. Very very unhappy with how his whole ordeal turned out. read more

The cupcakes are yummy, but the business plan is lacking. First, inventory is spotty...I've never seen another bakery that doesn't have stock during the hours of operation. We've been in an hour before closing when there were just two cupcakes left in the cases--TWO. I question a fresh bakery that doesn't bake more product to keep up with demand. Also, if you want more than a dozen cupcakes, you are required to order them ahead. After the two-cupcake debacle, we visited earlier in the day, and were told (in a rather unpolite tone) that we had to call ahead if we wanted more than a dozen, despite cases being full at the moment. Horrible customer service.I called to order 2 cakes spoke with the owner,she gave me her email and asked me to email her some ideas.As per her request I emailed her that evening.I never heard back from her.Two weeks later she contacted me about my order.I explained to her that I emailed her and never got a response back so I just figured she was too busy and didn't want my business. In an argumentative tone,she insisted that I never emailed her & that she checks her email everyday and is certain that I never did.I was completely turned off by that point..I told her to cancel my order and then she hung up the phone on me. The girl who took my order was not properly trained in taking orders, she didn't know flavors or pricing. Big mistake by management. The cake was completely the wrong flavor! I came across the owner's business card in the lobby of my OB's office. I visited the website and was encouraged by the reviews. Long story short, they must have been paid or friends and family. I wandered in on a slow Saturday over the summer with my husband and infant son. The owner was at the counter talking to another young girl and didn't even acknowledge us when we walked in and took several minutes to finish their conversation before deigning to bestow her attention on us; and, when she did, had such a bad attitude that I wanted to turn around and walk out. I should have followed my instinct. There was no selection, which she blamed on a busy day the day before (per her site, the pastries were made fresh daily). Also, there were flies inside the cases which she made no effort remove. For sh!ts and giggles, we ordered 5 cupcakes and realized upon leaving that we had been charged for 6. When I went back in to tell her this, she just about rolled her eyes as she offered to refund me or give me another. Upon finally tasting our first cupcakes, my husband and I were not impressed. They were stale and dry having probably been sitting out in that case from the previous day. We wound up throwing the rest away. $15 well spent. read more

The cupcakes were good but the service was amazingly bad! Last week, my daughter and I walked into the (empty) bakery on a Saturday afternoon. First of all, no one greeted or welcomed us to the bakery. Then, the lady stood silently behind the counter frowning with her arms folded as we looked at their selection. It was hard to tell if she was annoyed that we'd interrupted her conversation with her coworker or because 3 minutes had passed and we were still looking. The selection was VERY limited --only 8 kinds of cupcakes-- so, I don't know, maybe she thought we should've been faster?? But, again, the store was E.M.P.T.Y. Anyway, instead of offering a suggestion or attempting a friendly conversation she said with an attitude, "Well. Do you know how many you want to buy?" I stared at her and contemplated leaving. But since I'd already parked and walked down the street to the bakery, we chose 4 cupcakes and I gave her my credit card. She swiped it, handed it and the cupcakes to me and said "Here you go" and walked away. That's it?! At the very least, I expected a "thank you", "enjoy" or "please come again". Unbelievable! Notice to Half-Baked --customers require "customer service"! Be friendly and smile. This was my 3rd and final attempt to patronize this business. My two previous visits were equally dismal.
