I had them make a cake for the former marines that had served and worked at a GM plant in White Marsh, Maryland to be honest this was a few years ago but being did a magnificent job and it went over greatly. I still go there to this day and their Italian pastries and other cookies and cake cakes are still great. They have other little goodies other than their pastries that are also enjoyable if you've never been there in Newark, Delaware or driven by I highly recommend you stop and if nothing else take a look, you might find something you really like and you might find out you should've stopped sooner. read more

used to be a good bakery. we picked up a cake a week ago for a party. we cut the cake at the party and many said cake was dry and tasted fishy. we learned the fishy taste can be caused by old canola oil and or old egg products used for making batter. cannot recommend Bing's any longer. read more

This bakery, I'll admit I might be a little biased since I learned the owners are from NY. Walking in feels like stepping into a true bakery--options, options, and more options. The atmosphere takes me back to my childhood, from the bell on the door to the display of beautifully decorated cookies that instantly catch the eye of any little one. On two different occasions, I've had last-minute emergencies--one was completely my fault, the other wasn't--and both times they came to the rescue. Not only did they fix the situation, but they also made sure I didn't feel like the mess I thought I was when I walked in. They worked hard to make things right and sent me out the door with a smile. Honestly, I usually leave smiling anyway, but those two times, they were nothing short of superheroes. Now for the pastries... let's just say if there's something I don't like, it's strictly personal preference, not because they did anything wrong. For example, I'm not a fan of chocolate and mint together--I'm sure they make an amazing chocolate-mint dessert, but it will never be for me. My personal favorites are their carrot cake and carrot bars (I love anything carrot), their brownies, almond pastries, apple danishes, donuts, and their arugula. They used to sell pre-sliced cakes--and honestly, I'm glad they stopped (well, not really!) because I couldn't resist buying multiples. I definitely blame them for my former cake addiction. You need their cherry pie in your life: even if you're not a pie person, even if you're not a cherry person-this pie elevates both and makes them so much more delicious than they are just by themselves. Definitely the top bakeries around. Old fashioned feel and busy on the weekends. Lots of choices from pies, pastries, cakes and cupcake, breads, cookies, and loaf cakes. I was looking for a menu to take home but I couldn't find one. I also couldn't find rolls to take home. Delaware doesn't have many decent local bread bakeries. 5 star service. I ordered a sheet cake for my nieces graduation from Penn State. The cake was both beautiful and delicious. Bings went above and beyond to save me when I accidentally crushed the top of the cake after I picked it up. After a good cry my husband took it back to see of there was anything they could do.....not only did they fix it but no one (not even me) could tell anything had happened to it! They are cash preferred but do take card with a $5 minimum that can easily be reached with the cookies ranging from $1.50 for a sugar cookies to $2.50 for a peanut butter cookie. I grabbed the above cookies with lemon bars for my roommate to see how they compare to her homemade ones. You can park on the one way street or in the back and with them opening around 7am you can grab a treat for lunch or breakfast before work starts. There were a team of 4 today when I went to help with patrons. I would suggest that you plan your order out and then step up when you are ready. I went in to make a custom order, a baker from the back came out to take the oder but was not helpful at all and was almost rude. Bings did an excellent job on our wedding cake in 2013. In the years since, we've gone to them often, and have always had great experiences with their staff and quality of their baked goods. We went elsewhere else for our 4 year old granddaughter's birthday cake this week, with some pretty sub-par results. We went into Bings yesterday to get some help to finish off the cake and make it presentable, and ended up speaking with the owner. She went out of her way to make sure we got back on track with the cake. She gave us direct assistance, and also pointed us to other resources that would help to finish up this "project cake", which would have resulted in a pretty sad looking cake if the owner didn't take the time to help us out. All for a product that wasn't hers. That is exemplary customer service! Lesson learned. Spend your money on quality product and service like you get at Bings! read more

Bakery items are okay but i have to give them one star based on their customer service. I won't say it's a racial thing but when I walked in the bakery I was not greeted at all or asked if I needed help. I was just stared at for over a minute. Once I was finally helped the young lady visibly had an attitude. Not to mention other customer who came in after me were warmly greeted with smiles. To make matters worse my order was not ready for pick and I was told they are working on other orders and given not estimate as to how long it would take for mine to be finished. This business has been around some time so i guess they feel like the products will speak for themselves but i am still of the belief that good customer service is a requirement for my business. read more

Lawd! Went here with a friend to pick up cupcakes for a birthday! Came out with almost $30 worth of cookies, cheesecake, elephant ear, sticky buns, cinnamon rolls, pizza and tomato pie! (lost my mind) Why is the vegetarian pizza one of the best I have ever had! The elephant is on the only pastry I had so far.. flaky and delicious. They have all the bake items you can think of. They also sell these amazing gingerbread houses to pull apart with cookies and candy. Beautiful small cakes on display too. Great customer service! Old fashioned bakery, lots of very tasty sweets and cakes. Cakes can be done up for special occasions and are spectacular whit your choices of cake, fillings and decorations. The only negative thing I can say about this place was that I had $300 in seafood in my trunk and it took about 30 minutes to get my cake that I ordered a couple days prior. That can easily be forgiven because the seafood was still good and I'm the idiot for getting seafood first. Not to mention this is literally the first bakery I've found out here that does everything right, they're almost good as my girlfriends baking (and likely only because the volume, my girlfriends a perfectionist with her baking.) I had the expectation this would be top of the line when it was obvious whoever took my order was annoyed with my questions. So my expectations for bings were a little higher than they usually are. I realized the second I opened the door of my car to pick up my order that Bings would be the best bakery I've been to my entire life. I could smell everything coming out of there from probably 200 feet behind the entrance. Once inside i felt everything in the shelves looked lovely, so I got some macaroons, cannolis, napoleons, and those weird jam cookies I've rarely seen in bakeries. my girlfriend was not only impressed with the pastries (this is suuuppppper rare) but the cake was the best shes had that she didnt bake herself. I cannot express how happy I am that bings bakery exists and is close to me. Seriously worth the wait, because nobody can bake like my girlfriend can bake, but bings is pretty darn close. read more
