There donation of books to our food pantry has made a memorable summer for lots of kids. Can't thank enough for their kindness

Absolute refusal to give teacher discount though I had my old card and teacher ID that I showed at the register. Was told I couldn't get the discount because they store was "closed." Est amount I spent there last month was $250. The ridiculous part is that they remembered me and my purchases. This is exactly why amazon does the business they do. Hit Target on the Buy 2 get one Free music and you can get great prices on vinyl. Or try VCvinyl or VCvalue on whatnot for $5-$10 records I've seen at this location for $20-$25. I've traded items in for measly amounts of cash, and that was my choice, but this last experience was ridiculous. I'm a believer in brick & mortar stores, but there are other options these days if service lacks like this. read more

This is almost a destination because the variety is so good and I can spend so much time just looking through not only affordable books but everything else in the store. Real bookstores are becoming a thing of the past and that's a shame! I guarantee you'll find a couple (or,more) things you can't live without but didn't know it before you entered. read more

It's a great bookstore! They also sell music & things for the kids. Everyone there is super helpful. If they don't have the book you want they will get it from one of their other stores for you. read more

I going here to get book's until today,when I was at the checkout line I noticed some anti Donald Trump chapstick and a tin with mints in it,I never noticed anything that had to do with the Democratic Party,I think I would rather go to barns and noble and pay full price than give my money to a liberal owner that probably donates some of his earnings to the democratic candidate. I went to Half Price Books to sell 117 Movie DVDs which included 8 3D movies, and 9 DVD collections. The dvds ran the gamut of genres. They were in pristine condition and I was the only owner. I wondered the store and saw they sold DVDs anywhere from $3 to $15 yet I was offered $35 bucks which translates to 29.9 cents apiece. I turned down the terrible offer. The rude gal with the buzzed hair and tattoos tossed my dvds back into the sacks without any care, turning down my request to put them back the way I had them which was 30 in a sack with the collections annd 3Ds in another sack. I could sell my collection myself for a $1 a piece and get 3.3 times what at they offered. Think about how the seller was screwed when thinking about buying here. If they gave me a fair deal, I may have bought some items. read more

This is a good place to get discounted books because the selection is large. Staff is friendly and store is clean. A lot to look at and enjoy. If selling books it's a different story. My suggestion is to take one bag in at a time because in my experience they pay by the bag not what the book is worth. You'll end up making more this way but don't expect to pay off college debt with selling books here I made the mistake of taking in four bags at the same time, lesson learned, and they gave me $1.50. It had DVD's, kids books, music and other stuff in there all within two years old. Then I had my daughter last Bag full of children's books and they have her $2.50. Great place to buy books, games, and movies. However, DO NOT BUY THEIR RECORDS. I have bought 3 from there and they all have not worked on my player. They don't check them before putting them up for sale. They have a very wide selection for being such a small book store. I got a book that can go for about 100$ in good condition there for 7$, which was great. Staff is friendly, but not very chatty. read more

This place is pretty great. It's like treasure hunting. I could spend hours looking at everything. Ignore all the salty reviews about selling dvd etc. Here's the deal, no they will not give you the value of an item, duh, they need to stock it, inventory it, sell it, give "it" shelf space. All of that is called over head. You essentially are getting a bit of money and the paying them a commission to sell your junk. All that complaining is just noise and ignorance. Somehow I have lived in Auburn, and never come in here. This was my first time to one, and this my favorite. Maybe just because its closed to my 'hood. It's also a manageable size, a lot of them are TOO big, and filled with TOO many books. Which coming from a hick town type is not saying a lot. They feel too daunting, and claustrophobic. In the words of Goldilocks "Ahh, this store is just right". I spent over an hour here, and ended up with 7 books for less than $20, sounds like a great deal to me! I ended up getting all the books in the Clearance section so they were all $2-3. A lot of the other books are more expensive, but still reasonable. I'm just a cheapskate. Plus, I was able to find a number of books from my current reading list, and a few that sounded interesting. My friend was able to grab a hardback copy of "The Stand" for $3! I highly doubt I will make it here more than once a year, not because I don't like it, but because I like it too much, and I already have too many books. read more

I love browsing this place even when I'm not looking for a specific book. In addition to good deals on paperbacks and hardcovers they have journals, postcards, thank you cards, and small gifts. I wish the parking lot wasn't so difficult to get into though. read more

Great place to browse for books, gifts, cds, dvds and vinyls. The outside (and subsequent strip mall location) is very misleading and sad: inside is bright and cheery and fun. Pretty decent kids corner with a variety of new and used books. Lots of good deals throughout the store. read more

I absolutely love this store. I'm a huge book fanatic and any place that has excellent books for a decent price is good for me! Since this is a 'buy & sell' used bookstore the selection isn't as large as you would find at other chain bookstores. However, if you enjoy books (or DVD's , CD's, vinyl albums, etc. )and are willing to really look around you will find that they have a great selection at very good prices. They also have a small selection of 'collectors' books if you are in the market for very old and valuable items. I am always very surprised with the rare gems that can be found here. read more

This is a great inexpensive bookstore. The always changing selection means that you have to go back about once a month to see what is new on the shelves. I found 3 books there all in new condition and spent $17 total. Which was less than the price of any one of the book that I bought, had I picked it up somewhere else (Barnes and Noble). I will be back from time to time to see what's new. Also they have a nice used DVD/Blu-Ray selection too. Plus if you have books to sell this place does buy back used books/cd/DVD ect. You won't get much for them but something is better than nothing. read more

Half Price Books - Books, Mags, Music & Video Near Me - Fort Wayne, Indiana

Oh my goodness, you Fort Wayners don't know how good you have it to have a Half Price Books. I am from the book happy Texas which created Half Price Books. I didn't know how lucky I was until I moved to the book desert that is South Florida. I loved browsing the halls of a Half Price Books again. The only one thing I didn't like is the One Direction CD or something stupid of that nature that they seemed have on repeat both times we went in there. Yes, "Baby let me be your last Your last first kiss" on repeat. I think I heard it both times we were in there. How is that even possible for someone like Harry to pull that off? Unless, they never get kissed again? Their first and last kiss...ha! I'm trying to figure out who in the crowd or workers that appealed to but okay. But back to Half Price Books. It was very similar to the Texas stores I have spent many hours in. They have things nicely organized in interest sections. The books are actually affordable. They even have a nice clearance section. If you want cheap books, this is a hot spot for sure. There are even half priced books. I have been able to find all the classics I could think of wanting here though sometimes I can not find contempory titles and have had to got o Border's which is now closed. They do however have a website which you can order online from with a much larger selection. You can sell books there, but do not expect to get much for them, pennies on the dollar for sure. But if you are simply lokoing to get rid of them, then a few bucks for them might be worth the drive. I go for the paperback classics (which are half price of original marked price) which I can get for around $5.00 a piece usually :) read more

Love this place. I can always find great finds in any category and any medium (comics, books, movies, music, etc.) Staff is always friendly. Only complaint is its location. There is only one way to get into the store, so you either have to pass the place and turn around, or go a long way around so you double back and then go on the street where you can turn right on into the store. But that's not the fault of anyone working there. read more

The concept behind this store is great. Cheap books for everyone so more people can read and share their knowledge. Today they had a 50% off clearance sale. I bought 20 children's novels for my classroom at $10. I could never get that kind of deal in a teacher's catalog. I just wish they would explain their buying procedure. Absolutely love this bookstore! You can find anything from books to vinyl records. The store is so neatly labeled, that it makes it really easy to find what genre and author you're looking for. The employees can even look up whether or not they have a book in Stock. The store features everything from collectibles to children's books. You can sell your books here as well, another plus. The only downside is that depending on the book, they might not have it or they may only have one copy of the book. Other than that, it's a wonderful place for book worms. read more

STEALING? Went in today with my boyfriend and he had a few games and a wii to sell. They told us to walk around the store a bit while they go through the stuff and figure out how much it is worth. (How is that not suspicious?) It took (I kid you not) a half an hour! Finally, we got called back and the guy at the counter went through the order of what he was purchasing. The complete wii, Borderlands and Crash Bandicoot. The total came out to ONLY $24.50. First of all, RIP OFF. We left the store and went back to the car when he realized that he had also brought in two game boy games to sell and the guy never mentioned buying those. Our conclusion was that half-priced books STOLE from us. I had him call the store and they said that the two game boy games were included in the order purchase but I did NOT see them on the counter with the other things. I went through reviews of other Half Priced Books to see that this is not the only time this has happened. read more

You can't beat this place. I just picked up the 6th season of Three's Company at a good price. Their dvd collection is growing bigger ! I love the variety in there. Unfortunately, every time I visit this place I end up having the urge to go to the bathroom. read more

I gave the store only four stars because they give you pennies on the dollar when you sell books. Then they sell old paperbacks at 1/2 off the original price. However, selling my old books here is the easiest way to get rid of them for me. Someone will come out to unload your car and take the books into the store. A great service. Thanks. read more
