Hands down this is the only place to go if your destination is beer. The loads of different types from Asians, to German beers and MicroBrews are all over, beaming down like necter from the gods. I've been a long time customer and fan of the place since it opened. Always treated great by the staff, and spoke highly of the place when I recommended it. A recent visit this past Memorial weekend changed all that. I was returning my empties and had a bottle of Coke that still had some left, so I went outside and poured it out. Next thing I know I got this guy in my face asking what I'm doing. "Don't you know that was sugar" ? So I told him I guess I didn't think that over as well as I should have and apologized. Next thing I know he's taking my returnable container (tucker tote) and tosses it outside. He says "Don't you know this is an aisle way" ? Sure I do, but why did you put your returnable table right in the aisle way ? At this point I say to him. Look, if you got a problem, you tell me. Don't grab my stuff and toss it outside. I was gong to leave, but you know what, they have no problems charging us a nickel for each bottle/can, why should I leave without completing what I set out to do. I have done this there numerous times before without ever getting any grief! I asked one of the kids working there if that was the owner? Sure enough it was. So instead of just parlaying my returnable money into a purchase, I took the money for the first time ever and walked over to the owner and the first thing out of his mouth was how many returnables I had? Really. That's all you care about ? I told him that I was always treated well there, spoke highly of the place, but after this incident I would have a hard time coming back. He said it was a tough day and that he was short handed. Well, I can't in my right mind find myself going back there knowing my hard earned money would end up in his pocket. It's a good thing he has good people as the face of his business, because I believe others would have the same opinion as I do. Everyone has a choice where they spend their money. My son & I ordered 12 beers from Halftime. They were shipped to us in 3 days from NY to NC. Everything was packed very well and arrived in perfect condition. I was pleased to get some brews that I can't get in my area. Their web site is easy to use and it was so easy to place an order. I got e-mail confrimations on when it was shipped with tracking numbers. I recommend Halftime to anyone wanting to order beer online. I gave four stars because one of my beers was close to being out of date, but it was still fresh when I had it. read more

I happened to be in the area awhile back and stopped in. The store is nice and I found it easy to shop. They do have lots of different beers and the staff was nice and helpful. But I am confused about their answer in one of the reviews, stating that Fedex ground no longer ships beer. That isn't true and I order it all the time. So, not sure what is really up with that. I wish they hadn't stopped shipping. Also sounds like Half time needs to change credit card processors. read more

My father is a Sam Adams fan, so I ordered their sampler for him. I ordered the item on the 19th. They charged my card and emailed me the same day saying I'd receive a tracking number from the shipper. I emailed them on December 21, December 22 and December 23 from their website (they don't have a number to call on their website). They never got back to me. (By way of reference, I ordered something for my Step-Mom at Wine.com on the same day to go the same address. It came from California and actually arrived on December 22.). I called them on December 23 (after looking them up on "the Google"). I told them I never received a tracking number. They told me that the package would arrive on December 27...8 days after I ordered it. They are in New York, and my Dad is in Ohio...so not a very long way. With a cough drop in his mouth or a bite of a chicken sandwich, the man told me that there are problems with the automated tracking system. I then asked why it took three days to even ship my package (I ordered it on 12/19 and the UPS tracking systems says they did not ship it until 12/22). The guy tried to tell me it took three days to pack and send to the shipper. He then told me that UPS doesn't work on the weekend and is closed Monday. He told me that "things get busy around the holiday." I told him about my Wine.com experience and his response was to roll his food or cough drop around in his mouth, but, other than that silence. Never an apology, never a real explanation...nothing. read more

Order from Half Time Beverage's website at your own peril!! I ordered a gift basket from the website (HalfTimeBeverage.com) on December 14th. UPS did not receive the order until the 19th (five days later). Today is the 27th and it has still not been delivered (13 days after ordering). Not very helpful for a Christmas gift basket. I sent multiple emails requesting information/ help with this delivery between Dec 19th and 24th with no response whatsoever. I tried their phone number (after finally locating it on the website) but every time I called I got a busy signal. I'm sure their store is lovely, but their customer service is atrocious and the speed at which deliveries are shipped is a joke. read more

This review is for the on-line service. In this electronic age I don't really see why when an order is placed it can't ship within one day. Anyroad, the order shipped in 3 business days. I should have received it next day, but the order was sent to NJ for some reason and as luck would have it there was a breakdown in the NJ sorting facility. So, there is no guess at when my beer will arrive, only that when the problem is fixed I should see it the day after that. As far as Half Time themselves, I would highly recommend them. The prices were reasonable and even if it wasn't shipped next day, three days is still within reason. And for $12 I couldn't have driven the 90 miles down and 90 miles back for that with gas prices the way they are. read more

$5 fee for deposit just crazy. Picked up a keg for a picnic and they asked for a deposit no problem figured as much $80 deposit over $200 for keg still no problem. The next day returned keg and tap only got back $75 ($5 swiping fee) in other words let me just rip you off. I recently ordered a draft beer at a local restaurant and really enjoyed it. I inquired about the name and brewery, then decided to purchase the beer in bottles at Half Time. Rich and Greg told me it is a seasonal brew and they did not have any in the store; however, they took my number and said they would try to locate it for me. I was away for several days and upon my return I had two messages from Half Time telling me they located several cases and to come in. I did and I couldn't be more pleased. This is excellent customer service - far above what I expected. In fact, I received a follow up call from Rich asking if I had gotten the previous messages! If you like warehouse type stores, this is the place. Lots of taps, but many bottles sit on the shelf for a long time. I even saw employees stocking the shelves and not rotating the beer(putting new beer in from of old beer). The safest bet is to get a growler. I personally stopped shopping there because I've gotten so many bad bottles. read more

You will not find a larger selection in the Hudson Valley. Best part is you can buy just one can or bottle so you don't end up with a six pack of something you don't like. Some other area beer stores only let you break certain 6 packs, not half time you can buy just one of anything. If you go there at night ask for Trevor if you need help making a decision I have been a beer geek for years and he is super knowledgeable and friendly. Only down fall is when they added new shelves, some of the racks seem like they aren't marked anymore with the description and pricing. Wouldn't let that keep you away just hope they take care of it because there is nothing worse than a rack not being labeled and bringing a beer to the register you wan tto try and finding out its a 6 dollar bottle. read more

I am extremely disappointed in this company. I am writing regarding their online beer of the month club. I signed up as a xmas gift for my husband last year. I requested the 12 packs be shipped in January, March, and May. The first pack came at the very end of January. The second pack came in May and the third pack has yet to come. I am beyond disappointed. They may have a cool bricks and mortar shop but they haven't quite figured out how to use the internet and it's too bad cause it would have been a great yearly gift!
