It is located in an old building with pleasant surroundings. They tend to have quite a few counters open and there are cash machines, both inside and outside of the bank. There are also personal advisers who will give you advice on your finances. As well as They counter staff are pleasant and courteous, the only downside is that at lunchtimes and Saturday mornings, you may have to queue. For this reason I have knocked stars off and also because the products they sell are not the most competitive. They do however, offer an efficient online banking facility.

The customer service is good, but I think that sometimes they are pushing some of their services too much (such as the Silver Account). The staff communicates well, and I have never been disappointed with them. What was surprising to me was that I have seen a few posters in Polish on the walls. Another topic is the internet banking that the bank provides, but that is a different story.

There is a seperate foreign exchange counter. There are 3 personal bankers, but it is unusual that you can get in straight away, an average wait is 20 to 30 minutes. Inside the branch, it also has a machine that you can access bank statements, order cheque books, and check nalances. There is also an internal cashpoint machine as well as an external area of 3 cash point machines.

The staff are always polite and helpful and willing to offer advice etc. They do have 4 cash machines and an extra fast payment machine. I use the fast payment machine a lot as the ques are big . This is an excelent facilty though it does take a day longer to pay in. When i ha a recent fraud on my account they was more than helpful to sort it out.

Sometimes when you come in here during the week the ques are very long but the staff help you with the self service if you are in a hurry and don't have time to wait. last year i had some fraud on my bank account and the natwest fraud team went out of their way to inform me how much had been stolen and within the month they recovered all of my money and they started a police investigation to find out who had done it. I was so pleased with how far they went to help me and all they did to prevent this from happening again. I have been with many banks in the past but this is by far the best i wouldn't change for anything.

Unfortunately my local Leatherhead branch has closed. This was a fruitless journey as it only opens Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, not particularly helpful for the customers. As my day's arrangements today took me near to Epsom I visited the Epsom branch and presented the letter to the gentleman behind the counter who asked for proof of I D. I asked if the standard letter requested I D and he confirmed it did not. My bus pass, issued by Surrey County Council and showing a current date, my name and my photograph was not acceptable although the name matches the letter Halifax sent me and the debit card of the account I wanted the money transferred to. I asked to see the manager but apparently he was in a meeting. What a shambles. I asked if he would paying my parking fee but I merely received a blank stare. Halifax are still earning interest on my money that I should have in my account.

There is never usually a long wait to be served and the service is always very efficient. The deputy manager even went as far as to ring me up and congratulate me the day I moved into my first house after she had arranged the mortgage for me.
