The airport its self is very large and we did have trouble with AA in getting our paid luggage tag. Machine not working. Staff telling us different things as to get it fixed. But finally we were taken care of. At that time of the morning TSA was quiet and we got right through. We arrived at the airport at midnight from Charlotte but we had to call for the shuttle because it was taking a long time for the bus to come up to the second deck to get us. But a lady had just reported in and she came and got us. She apologized that we had to wait, which was nice of her. She was pleasant and got us right to our vehicle. Again, great service from the shuttle staff. My only complaint is that we could not find the parking area for economy that was supposed to be $12 a day. We ended up at express which was $18 a day. We were told the old parking lot way out in the back had been replaced and was now for employees. It's a long drive for me to use this airport. The only thing I would suggest is that the signage be clearer for the parking areas and make sure the website is properly updated.

Unlike a lot of metropolitan airports that have updated and renovated over the decades, Norfolk has retained the same aesthetic but it is a dependable airport. The terminals are clearly defined once inside. Where you go to check in is easy and stress free. There are food options both within the terminals past security check as well as before hand. It's fairly stress free where there was no terminal that is specifically overcrowded. While an international airport, Norfolk does have a regional feel that is not as full throttle. It certainly feels easier to navigate and not as cramped as say Asheville that is a regional airport. Overall, it was solid.

The bathroom is ok accessibility wise. A wheelchair user might find the one disabled stall to be a bit cramped, but you can fit the chair in there. The toilet isn't too high off the ground, so a transfer could be easier than some locations. I am five feet tall and my feet don't reach the floor on the toilet. The door has a hook that is only a few feet off the ground so a person in a wheelchair or of short stature could easily reach it. There is a large inset shelf above the toilet upon which belongings can be placed. There are grab bars behind and beside the toilet. However, the grab bar beside the toilet is almost completely useless because the toilet paper dispenser blocks you from grabbing it. There is another vertical grab bar above that, it wouldn't work for a wheelchair user. The main bathroom space has a built in footstool for the sink and a needle disposal container. The sinks are too tall for a wheelchair user.

Things went just fine with flight arrangements and such in the past. Let's see how this one went. I set my flights via a 3rd party with no issues at all. After my Uber ride dropped me off, I dropped my luggage all tagged up and went to the gate after. The beginning flight was at 6am and we were able to board on schedule heading to Charlotte in an hour's time. The planes leaving out of this airport are on the smaller side so keep that in mind. For the flight coming home last Saturday, no problems at all. Arrived back in the 757 just past 11pm and was able to catch an Uber with everything in place. I was so glad things worked out well with my flights back and forth. We're definitely in good hands with airports during times like this. This airport will continue to be a go-to for yours truly :)

Usually only service 1 gate so boarding or getting your luggage out from arrival is very quick. Clean and there is WiFi available if you need to do some work. They also has the nicest TSA staffs I ever been encountered with They used park the plane and let you walk on the tarmac but I guess now due to security reason you have to board and de plane from the skybridge which is a bummer.

Amazing modern airport that seems really underutilized…read more Since Covid 19 the only car commercial airline, American Airlines, flies here daily between Greenville and Charlotte NC. The staff and security are all courteous and helpful. Both check in and security are handled quickly and efficiently, and there is a small departure lounge to wait in prior to boarding. Only drawback I experienced was that my luggage took a long to to arrive at baggage reclaim which was surprising considering that my flight was the only plane arriving at the airport.

They have a crew car available with the option to take it overnight for $35/day (taxes include). Cheaper than many rental car options! Fuel was $4.29 for 100LL full service which was very reasonable and our parking fees were waived for the few days we stayed here with fuel purchase. The FBO closes after 5pm on weekends so be sure to come in either on a weekday or make prior arrangements. If you fly in after 5pm, you can park the airplane and tie it down yourself and probably settle the bill in the next few days. This is a beautiful airport with very easy access to the outer banks. I would highly recommend flying in here!

Parked here for a few days as a friend of mine lives in Goldboro, NC and this was the closest…read moreoption - truly a wonderful airport. It is so welcoming. The fuel is some of the cheapest, there are NO parking or tie down fees (for single engine planes) and they have plenty of spots and ropes available for use. Everyone I met at the airport was incredibly friendly and community minded. It is attended 7 days a week and is truly a wonderful facility and gift to the region. It seems like there's a maintenance facility onsite and a building accessible 24/7 (via a code). Night landings are a breeze with a great lighting system. For food, I would suggest Adam's roadside barbecue about a 10 minute drive away from the airport. I'd come back here in a heartbeat!
